most of the deaths by gravity are due to people trying roll out of the way, if you've done PVP at the iron keep entrance, you should know that rolling at the center point could lead to you accidentally terminating yourself.

that and misjudging how much dmg you will take before falling.

are you seriously telling us that you've never fell to your own death by accident? i've played dks2 for 102 hours and more then likely killed myself at least twice per 5 hours whilst pvping.. although it is hilarious when you watch someone else roll into their own demise.

TLDR most of the bloodstains near drops are most likely because of people accidentally rolling into the abyss, misjudging a jump or because of those lion ******* after the shaded woods.

Apart when dealing with strange jumps, just fell in the second dark chasm.
Also I got all the dragon scales for +3 in that bonfire, never died nor saw anyone die at that point.

Also the point of the comment is: You discover gravity damage, you are curious and want to try, you die
You see 3 bloodstains falling to their death, you get curious, you jump.
Therefore:

just get lightning spear spell and lead him to the patch of water there, then throw the spears at him when he's on the water

I use a Rapier and a Medium shield, my only other guess will be that you'll have to parry it, or just keep on shoulder breaking him into the abyss

I probably could have just used the force miracle, couldnt I?

But in all honesty, I have over 100 hours on one character in Dark Souls 1, and am close to that in 2

That would be good

I got about 1200 hours on my DS1 and so far 1500 across DS2 on toons (I basicly play everydays)

If you "explore" before jumping in the huge hole, you discover a shop if you are there for your first time, chances are you are facing it's door at the same time you see the hole, nice planning I tell yah where a ring that lessens fall damage is sold.

So you COULD assume people just should wonder about why a falldamage lessener is sold next to a clear falling "platformer".
User avatar #23 to #2 - artimax (08/01/2014) [-]
Or maybe people are trying things? I mean the first time I played Dark Souls 2 and saw that hole I was like "This hole will probably kill me, I should do the sane thing and just carry on with the real path. Then again, this is dark souls, dying here won't do anything so I might as well try it, you never know what'll happen unless you tried it." Then I died and carried on like nothing ever happened

I love watching people die in the most odd ways possible, I've seen several people who are NEXT to a bon fire, turn, then run and jump off an edge. about 20 bloodstains around the first bonfire of the DLC area.

******* loved it
User avatar #108 to #98 - Monopolus (08/02/2014) [-]
Well there's a reason that they do that...or at least I do.

They do that to keep themselves in Undead form so that they don't have to deal with any assholes that try to invade them in the lower levels. If I'm playing a new character and go through Forests of Giants I don't want some dickhead in endgame armor invading me.
#121 to #108 - wanicochil (08/02/2014) [-]
You do realize that unless they're hackers it is impossible to have end game armor early game

You know Dark Souls 2 summoning/invading is based off the amount of total souls you have, not your level like in 1
User avatar #122 to #121 - Monopolus (08/02/2014) [-]
Well if that's true, then okay, I was a bit ignorant there.

It still doesn't change the fact that I hate trying to go through a level and then have to stop and fight this random dude who wants to kill me before I can proceed on. Especially knowing that if he kills me I just have to start from square one again.
#125 to #122 - wanicochil (08/02/2014) [-]
Either summon people for jolly coop, play offline mode, get rekt, get better, run to boss fog before they can kill you OR wait their 15 minute timer

Oh or just join acolyte of blue and people will come protect you when invaded
User avatar #110 to #108 - metalcoldreaper (08/02/2014) [-]
You could just burn an effigy, just an FYI
User avatar #111 to #110 - Monopolus (08/02/2014) [-]
BUT. If I burn an effigy that means that I can't call any good phantoms to help me with bosses; now that in Dark Souls 2 you can turn human away from bonfires, I can just go human at the end of the level and find someone to help me, instead of trucking all the way through as human and risk being invaded.
User avatar #112 to #111 - metalcoldreaper (08/02/2014) [-]
Log out then back in once you reach a boss, then you can be invaded / can summon again (or walk into a pvp area which i experimented with last night.)
User avatar #113 to #112 - Monopolus (08/02/2014) [-]
Meh. I think both ways are effective; I just prefer my method because I only have a finite amount of effigies.
User avatar #114 to #113 - metalcoldreaper (08/02/2014) [-]
I only tried the effigy method last night because i was bored and i'm getting tired of being invaded (I suck at pvp and i'd rather avoid it all together.) so i popped one into the fire to do the memory area's by myself..

**** the amount of times i died...
User avatar #116 to #114 - Monopolus (08/02/2014) [-]
I was just used to staying Undead in DS1 that it transferred over to DS2 by habit.
User avatar #117 to #116 - metalcoldreaper (08/02/2014) [-]
I got pissed off mid way through DS1 with all the invades, what made it worse was i was being invaded by people who had great armor and weapons and i still had the nub **** / drake sword.

so i hacked it, and did some lol moments with friends.
User avatar #120 to #117 - Monopolus (08/02/2014) [-]
That's because FROM was stupid in that they didn't have a level range where you can avoid being invaded if said invader was X levels higher than you were. That way that **** wouldn't happen, but apparently they never bothered to do that with either game.

Personally i'll turn myself into a pot and sit somewhere inconspicuous; **** them, let them walk around for 15 minutes and not have a goddamn idea of where I could be.
User avatar #124 to #120 - metalcoldreaper (08/02/2014) [-]
...t-thats genius, i have to try that o.o
#123 to #120 - wanicochil (08/02/2014) [-]
Dark souls (Both one and two) have methods on restricting you from invaders/summons

A level 5 isn't going to get invaded by a level 100, though in dark souls 1 people could run the whole game at level 1 and get best game gear/items then invade
