Every time I build something I am proud of I always see these images, and I get so disappointed.
#270 to #85 - anon (03/30/2014) [-]
Id say thats pretty decent as well. as im sure you know it could be better but if you worked on it a little more you could make it even better! try adding a wider variety of blocks within the same colour scheme and create patterns in walls and whatnot with them.

this has potential to be one of the greatest creations in minecraft history! you just cant give up.

dont be upset dude. your giant dildo looks pretty cool too
User avatar #175 to #85 - mrpotatofudge (03/30/2014) [-]
Yes I too have made giant cocks before as well
Like GIANT cocks
I once cleared out 9 entire chunks just to build a giant dick monument that when from bedrock to max world height
it was amazing I lived in it for 2 weeks
Its now filled with chickens and there's a bunch of dispensers at the top that every once in while launch a bunch of chicken eggs making look like its having an orgasm
User avatar #146 to #85 - skeptical (03/30/2014) [-]
that's actually pretty ******* cool

Quite a while ago, around when Redstone was nothing but Redstone Dust, Torches & Repeaters, I created this huge ass typewriter.
When it was first created, it was the most powerful typewriter in the whole of Minecraft. It supports up to 16 character words/phrases, with each character having a 6x6 display. The amount of unique characters that are provided by default is around 55 or something, however, it also has a custom character input, where you can create your own characters. It displays the text by scrolling it along an array of Repeaters, although that is laggy as **** without Optifine.
I'm guessing by now tons of people have crated vastly superior Redstone creations, but I thought I'd show it anyway, since it was once the crown jewel of my Redstone collection.

Today on "I didn't know I had Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders" we look at a fancy image of a scrolling marquee..

I don't use then to combine the performance, I use them to run multiple games simultaneously. I use my 560 & my 680 on different monitors, & each runs their own game, I also use my 560 when I'm using my GTX 680 as a heater, or as a dedicated PhysX card.

User avatar #286 to #173 - kolpster (03/31/2014) [-]
Which means, it could be very recent.
Not much has added to redstone to make this much better.
User avatar #187 to #173 - rokkarokkaali (03/30/2014) [-]
weren't lamps introduced with comparators?
#200 to #187 - anon (03/30/2014) [-]
They came around about the time of the Piston update, which is was beta 1.7. Redstone was only updated with all the new parts post release. I heard that was around Full Release 1.5 or so.

you should, I have some interesting things to show you
#93 to #32 - anon (03/30/2014) [-]
This is probably the best Screenshot I've ever taken of it in action. Usually, the text is completely illegible by now, due to some of the chunks refusing to update.
#41 to #32 - motherfuckingkenji (03/30/2014) [-]
Now you could do all that in like a 5x5 using Project Red.
Or just use a single computer and a huge monitor from ComputerCraft.
Which is, you know, not in the slightest bit impressive by comparison to something huge and made of redstone dust.

Related story

So my mom tells me one day a while back that my aunt had been freaking out over my younger cousin playing his video games all the time. He's a senior in high school, has a few friends but doesn't venture out much. I'm like yea, whatever I'm sure he's fine, just a teenager. Fast forward like 3 months and I go over to my Aunt's house for Christmas. Start talking to my cousin and ask about what video games he likes to play. Says he's really into Minecraft, never heard of it, ask to check it out. We go up to his room and he shows me what he has been up to... I was freaking blown away. He had built some of the coolest buildings and full cities I had ever seen on a video game. **** just like this comp if not some better and bigger. He tells me that he gets straight A's, all CP/Honors classes. He's been accepted early to Pitt and plans to stay there for it's engineering school. Go back downstairs and his mom is telling everyone that he was upstairs showing me how he wastes his life away day after day, etc., etc.. I rage on the inside. I can feel my core temperature go up. I tell her and the whole family what incredible things he had built and had been doing and what he planned on doing for a living.. Shuts aunt up and the whole family wants to see them. My cousin literally started tearing up and thanked me. This game is going to spawn a lot of really creative construction in the next generation. I'm all for kids playing this game.

Purely so people can make giant creations and see them quicker without having to put hundreds of hours of effort into making something that could take them like 10 hours
User avatar #125 to #20 - adu (03/30/2014) [-]
It's basically like playing legos except with infinite legos and you can duplicate and share your creation with as many people as you want.

It takes the "game" aspect out of it and just makes it more of a toy, but it's still fun.

It's good to experiment. It's better to know your giant fully functional toilet works before you craft the 1,000 pistons and dispensers.
User avatar #21 to #20 - drastronomy (03/30/2014) [-]
Why is playing with legos fun when you do not make the legos yourself?
#23 to #21 - dehumanizer (03/30/2014) [-]
seriously half of minecraft's fun is guathering those resources and surviving, builds done on creative are no achievments for me because of how easy it is
#25 to #23 - anon (03/30/2014) [-]
I like building and surviving I just dont like gathering. exploring and looting is where I find my fun/
User avatar #165 to #23 - chimpaflimp (03/30/2014) [-]
Yes, because hacking away at trees and waiting for a metric ********** of stone to smelt for hours on end is fun. Survival is best for servers because you can have lots of fun adventures with people on them, but creative is best for single player because you can just get to work and build something awesome. Single player survival ends as soon as you find diamonds ( **** the ender dragon and the wither; they're both **** ) but on servers it never ends. You are half correct.
#108 to #23 - anon (03/30/2014) [-]
That's kinda like saying "Making a painting isn't even fun unless you go out and get your own berries and grind them up yourself"

So much of minecraft's resource collection is just grinding.
User avatar #37 to #23 - angelious (03/30/2014) [-]
eh even at hardest difficulty there is barely any challenge in survival....

creative is a lot more fun
User avatar #26 to #23 - drastronomy (03/30/2014) [-]
gathering and **** gets boring too if you have done it enough.

User avatar #79 to #20 - victhree (03/30/2014) [-]
Well, there are some people who like the process, and others who like the result.

I personally love creative, the survival mode just lacks realism and features.
I think Minecraft is more of a tool to do what you want than a game.
User avatar #81 to #20 - killthebilly (03/30/2014) [-]
the joy isn't about playing the game, but building something beautiful and unique.
#36 to #20 - anon (03/30/2014) [-]
Because survival is so easy that after 2 hours it just becomes a dumbed down version of creative.
User avatar #192 to #36 - quasatranquility (03/30/2014) [-]
Well it's about the challenge and hard work. Getting the right materials, building the perfect fortress, adding cool stuff to it as the days passes by, fighting new monsters in the nether, making potions, going on a journey which you log in a book at sunset every day, finding amazing sights and finally beating the Ender Dragon and the Wither, sitting there in your massive fortress with all the loot you could wish for, knowing you bloody well earned this **** . Next step, build a giant cock made purely out of diamonds.
User avatar #69 to #36 - asylumshaco (03/30/2014) [-]
Not if you play ultra hardcore.
User avatar #174 to #36 - froggets (03/30/2014) [-]
play hardcore then, I can promise you that you'll die a lot before making a save where you actually survies, and noting sucks more dicks than dying after having built your very first base with lots of stuff and you having one stack of ******* diamond!
#268 to #36 - legendofbearo (03/30/2014) [-]
Its more like its realistic creative. Where the limits are small but you must gather the resources you want. And if you want the truest of vanity then you must search hard for it.
Both Fun, creative, and rewarding.

Creative joy, quite literally. It's a bit like drawing for me. I enjoy drawing **** , but do I want to craft the pencils and stuff myself and draw at the risk of someone coming and tearing the drawing apart the whole time? Not really. I'm not interested in regular Minecraft gameplay, so usually when I get an idea I just build it, see how it turns out and then go do something else.
