I love how this game decided to **** you over if you even think about going another direction to get credits or ammo lol

Ah, Dead Space was great even though I'm usually bad with horror, seriously though **** those jump scares. The second one was my favorite and I ******* loved using the Javelin Gun. Something about seeing a necromorph flying through a corridor while emitting electrical sparks was just too beautiful...honestly reminds me of Raiden's tackle move from Mortal Kombat though. What a great two game franchise.
User avatar #5 to #4 - flemsdfer (07/20/2014) [-]
Do you just dislike the third game enough to disown it or something?
User avatar #76 to #5 - durkadurka ONLINE (07/20/2014) [-]
They turned a niche survival horror game into another bland co-op shooter. They added in-game purchases to the game despite you having already bought it.

It wasn't a terrible game, but they stripped away the things that had gotten me into Dead Space in the first place.
User avatar #6 to #5 - kibitzer (07/20/2014) [-]
What third game? Kidding aside, yeah, the forced co-op killed it for me and I wasn't a fan of the scavenging for gun parts either. I also thought the multiplayer for the second game was pretty fun too.
User avatar #40 to #6 - yuukoku (07/20/2014) [-]
I liked the scavening for guns and the gun building system, but the co-op felt forced and unnatural, not to mention that it took away from the horror aspect way too much.
User avatar #7 to #6 - flemsdfer (07/20/2014) [-]
Some good points. It made the game worse for me with all the dlc like "Buying more scavenger bots", "Buying stupid voice packs", and my personal favorite "The ending to the game"

The second game did have some real good multiplayer. Very unique.
User avatar #8 to #7 - kibitzer (07/20/2014) [-]
Ha, forgot about the scavenger bots. Also dlc to change the voice of the bots? Oblivion's horse armor was more useful. Honestly though, I never did finish the third game. Other than the few changes they made, the game stayed basically the same and it kinda burned out on me after having played the first two games repeatedly. I did watch some walk-throughs on the game though since I was still interested in the story. Looks like there isn't going to be a fourth game after that, huh?

Yeah, I thought it was really fun. Reminiscent of Left 4 Dead which was another fun game.
User avatar #9 to #8 - flemsdfer (07/20/2014) [-]
There could still be a fourth game. The ending looks like you die, then there's dlc for the rest of the ending which is you crash on earth and escape while major crazy episodes go on with you, and then you fly your ship back to earth to find dozens of more moons surrounding it and they're like "Oh god" and then cliffhanger
User avatar #10 to #9 - kibitzer (07/20/2014) [-]
Yup, I was talking about the dlc ending. Apparently the ones that created the necromorphs all awoke or something and by the time that Isaac and pal's ship reached Earth, those moons already took over it entirely. Then you got the one that encloses on their ship too. Unless it was all some kind of dream, I have no idea how they would go about it. Maybe the surviving humans who escaped are now living in migrant ship colonies? Who knows.
#50 to #4 - ffinfinity ONLINE (07/20/2014) [-]
imo co-op added more replayability due to different sequences happening if you play as carver or issac. Honestly don't know why you guys say it was forced since you could quite easily disable jump in co-op and play as isaac solely. Plus its fun to play game with friends.
#115 to #50 - theinfamouschad (07/21/2014) [-]
It's forced in the sense that it wasn't really needed, but added anyway, not in the sense that they force you to do it. It's just jarring, and you can tell that they crowbarred in Carver. A good example is how he kinda just shows up in a lot of the cut scenes, as if he'd been there all along. It makes sense playing co-op, but otherwise it just looks silly.
User avatar #113 to #4 - dsgbiohazard (07/21/2014) [-]
The second one was AMAZING. It kept the jump scared, but toned them down. They transferred the scariness from the jump scares to the general atmosphere.

User avatar #102 to #31 - thinkwithportals (07/21/2014) [-]
The game doesn't give you any hint that you can't kill it at first (or I just didn't pick up on it) and I ended up using like half my ammo cutting its legs off
User avatar #159 to #102 - blacklightsun (07/21/2014) [-]
You CAN kill ONE of those, in DS you have to kill one to continue (Or just get a Node).
When you get the spaceship funtionating, that ****** shows up and you kill it (spoiler) Using the ship's turbines, just make it follow you to the back of the ship, freeze it and then hurry to start ship's engine)
User avatar #164 to #159 - thinkwithportals (07/21/2014) [-]

I love the Dead Space franchise, played the **** out of the second, last play through I did was a hardcore plasma cutter only run, best **** I ever accomplished. Also liked the third one a bit just because of the story and I did like the idea of making a shotgun that can also shoot a javelin.

It really is a wonderful series, and one that i need to invest time into finishing. I got stuck on #2 when you go back onto the Ishimura. I got to that giant tunnel that you need to run down and open the hatch to escape, but for the life of me i can't ever make it out alive. Any pointers?

Stasis and kinesis if low on ammo, stock on health, it's a taxing bit but it's doable, Sprint stasis things and grab spikes to knock them down and whatever you do, don't get cornered.

I still loved the third one, not as much as the second but it was still good. I don't know why people express so much hatred for it. Sure, it had microtransactions and overpowered DLC items No doubt only included at EA's demand , but so did the first and second.. Just disregard them and play it as it was intended. I've also heard the Co-Op was "forced", but there is not a single mission where it's mandatory. Once again, just disregard.

My only real problem is the DLC ending, which just ruins the sense of closure that the original ending gave. When will companies learn, nobody likes a ******* blatant cliff hanger. Especially when you'll have to wait another 3 or 4 years to find out the conclusion. Other than that, amazing game.

Pic related, mfw people who hate DS3 just because of EA's meddling.

Ya the awakening dlc was kinda a cheap shot but through and through, it wasn't bad, people just like to rage because it's EA doing DLC shenanigans and reviewers **** on it because they didn't like the idea of co-op being an option in a horror game.

Remember though, he was coming from inside a ship, which was heated. In space there's a lack of particles to take heat from him, therefore it takes a long time for him to cool down. Let's add in the fact that he is generating heat himself AND the sun is beaming on to him a lot of the time.

When I played Dead Space 3 co-op with a buddy he started using a shotgun with an underslung rocket launcher. I'd just be sitting back popping cultists in the head when I'd get an rpg shoved up my butt.

I just bought and am currently playing Dead Space 3.

It's really good, like, at lest as good as 2. I don't know why everyone hated it. I'm loving every minute of it.

like, the segments where you're free floating around in space, with hundreds of seconds of air to explore with. and basically free exploring derelict ships in orbit.

bliss.

why did everyone hate it?

Because it doesn't do well as a horror game,it has shody combat( I shot a necromorph like 4 times in the leg with a regular pasma cutter but instead of it getting its leg cut off it just dies, the little inconsistancies),and it doesn't really feel like a true dead space game

Dead space 3 is a loot collecting game more than a horror game, each mob was a bump on the road to more loot for better guns.

I liked Dead Space 3, granted it wasn't AS scary as 2 was, but the game play, and especially the story and voice acting more than made up for it.

Then the Awakened DLC. Brought the scary back.

That and the Carver/Clarke Bromance was hilarious to watch.

While 2 is my favorite of the series, I didn't hate 3. The crafting system is really nice and fleshed out, you can really make any combination of weapon you can think of, but because of that, the game is more about getting the right weapons to mow down anything in your way, instead of the horror thriller like the first two games. I never played it co-op, nor touched any of the dlc / micro-transactions, but all around it's solid. until the last 10 minutes of gameplay :c Also if you're playing on any diffulty higher than normal, invest in a force gun, I hated it in 1 and 2 but it's really solid if you pair it with a semi-rifle or plasma cutter to just mow through huge groups safely while using little ammo.
