i feel like just using a saw would be more efficient. if it uses a link from an actual chainsaw it would take more effort to saw through the wood.

granted if you were a roidmonkey then it would probably work better.

You can't rol up and then put a saw in your pocket. Stuff like that is designed for light camping/survival gear.

The ones I've always seen were a high-tensile, textured wire. I personally doubted one of those to be any good, but a good tensile wire, that I've seen in survival stores (assuming you aren't swinging from it like tarzan), should hold up just fine.
