If you even bothered to pay attention you'd notice this part " >mfw (first comment) Borderlands 2 gave my 13 year old brother a decent understanding of politics today "

If you didn't notice I'll make it more clear.

well yes, it is based in economics, but it's been debated in politics for some time now. the left believes that all rich persons should pay outrageous taxes on everything and generally pay more simply because they have more money. the right believes the opposite.

Most left wingers only want the rich to pay taxes equal to the taxes they pay at lower incomes...Percentage wise. The extreme left wants them to pay more, though they would be paying proportionately more in either case based on their incomes

I speak three languages and I make errors too. But that's not the point. Your comment could have had a much bigger impact on the reader if it were not for that typo. MOST not ALL poor citizens complain like **** saying that the rich who earned their money by working hard for a long time should distribute the wealth to them

MOST not ALL rich folk, however, don't want to give away their money. it's theirs, they earned it.

I was talking to my radically liberal friend about how he thought rich people should get taxed more than the standard 35%. He then went on to complain about how when he plays mario party and is in the lead with the most stars, loses them and is forced to give them to the loser. Wut

in Mario Party terms, the gov't is bowser "so I see you have 102 coins, lemme just take 80 of them to fund... koopa advanced military tactics" or if you land on his space and he decides to take 30 coins from EVERYONE, but you're the only one with more than 30, he still takes all 30 from you, even if he only took max 12 from the other 3 guys.

Well its not like the initial comment where the loser gets all 100% of it. I mean I would complain if my **** all went to someone else when I did the work. But it's Mario Party anyway, game is all based on luck practically. The government doesn't just take from the rich, they take from the poor and actually on a % basis, taxes take more of the poor's money (percentage wise) than the rich due to taxes on sales good. It used to be bowser said **** you and took all your coins anyway. I haven't been playing the lastest ones, classic n64 mario party was my fav.

1. Mario party started going downhill on the cube, came back a little at 7, but is now ****.
2. even though % wise the poor bracket pays more, the top 1% richest people account for 95% of the tax money collected, so even though
3. it does more damage to a poor person's state of living it
4. doesn't really make a really sizable difference when that spectrum pays their taxes anyway.
5. Yes mario party is based on luck, but most minigames/some aspects of it can be won/arranged by skill, with some pre-determined consequences for having more coins and such.
6. my friend actually won a MP game where he had the fewest coins and kept winning the battle minigames to take other people's coins, we stopped playing with him afterwards.

I don't see the problem, to be honest.

If I gained roughly 100 million $/year, why shouldn't I pay half of them?
Other people are doing fine with only 1.5 - 2k $, why shouldn't 50 Million be enough for me?

1. You are punishing people for their success. This logic completely flies in the face of American capitalism.
2. If other people didn't work hard to enough to earn the success they wanted, why does that make it my responsibility to take care of them just because I did?
3. What motivation is there to do well if you know that no matter how hard you work, it's just going to get taken away from you. First it's 50 million in taxes, then it's 75, and it keeps going farther and farther until pretty soon we're in communist russia.
4. 40% of consumer spending in this country comes from the top two percent of earners. Start taxing them, and the economy takes an enormous hit.

That's wrong though. Nepotism is ********. If someone is rich because he inherited a lot of money then his parents worked hard for it. If not them, then their parents.
Are you somehow implying that people should not have the ability to pass down the possessions for which they worked hard their whole lives to their children?

but then they would be successful without having worked for it, which is the reason why capitalism is so full of ****.
taxes would be a punishment if success were really proportional to work, but it isn't, that's why a lot of people who have more money should give more money in favor of people who work harder than them and earn less.

This isn't really directed to anyone in particular, but what you are describing is a flat tax rate, which is a very conservative idea. What the US currently has is a progressive tax rate, where the more you make, the higher your income tax RATE is. For example, someone who makes under 50k a year would pay say 20% of their income, coming to 10k in taxes. Now someone who makes say 200k a year pays 35% of their income, coming to 70k in taxes. So not only are you paying more in taxes because you have more income, but you are paying a higher rate as well.
