well, it's fantasy borderline anime (it's arguable of what it is or not, not gonna engage in it) so you gotta remember to leave the logic outside before you watch it.... it's like a thumb of rule when watching...

bending defies Newton all the time. I think we can cut them some slack when it comes to classic physics problems. The sandbenders did it by faking dust devils with Earthbending so a pure tornado can't be worse. It's internally consistent so it doesn't bug me.

i suspect the air bubble he made around her was just for immobilization as the bubble disappears and you can then se her breath leaving her body but idk i watched and i don't remember it that much.
