#26 to #13 - anon (06/22/2013) [-]
Because Alchemy. Because pre-middle ages. Because Chemistry didn't exist then.
User avatar #25 to #13 - yourdadsdad (06/22/2013) [-]
Because it was a common practice to consider cold, heat, hard, and soft to be the things that made up everything. So the most pure form of these were water (cold) fire (heat) earth (hard) and air (soft).
#89 - lucarioveethree (06/22/2013) [-]
With the introduction of metal bending (and this content's logic as well), does this make Earthbenders just as capable of Bloodbending as Waterbenders?

Because, y'know, iron and whatnot.
#128 to #89 - anon (06/25/2013) [-]
Probably not, because metalbenders bend rocks in in the metal itself, and considering that there isnt much iron in the blood, that would be like trying to bend a grain of sand in haystack.
User avatar #105 to #89 - formerlyaceseleven **User deleted account** (06/22/2013) [-]
i would say no due to the small amount of iron in the blood. bloodbending utilizes water which makes up 70% of the body

User avatar #122 to #120 - christmouth (06/22/2013) [-]
And again. The iron in our blood isn't magnetic, I think it's because those are ions. Sorry if I can't explain it properly.

1. Become gold bender.

2. ???

3. Profit.
User avatar #87 to #79 - sabcy (06/22/2013) [-]
You do know that would be pointless. Gold is one of the softest rocks/metal/material in the world.
User avatar #94 to #87 - arstya (06/22/2013) [-]
It's valuable.
User avatar #97 to #94 - sabcy (06/22/2013) [-]
still can't pull it out of the ground.
User avatar #93 to #87 - wheresthefudge (06/22/2013) [-]
But a goldbender could pull the gold out of the ground (or surreptitiously pull it from people's jewelry).
User avatar #95 to #93 - sabcy (06/22/2013) [-]
due to the softness of gold, all you would do is smash against the rocks above.
User avatar #110 to #95 - wheresthefudge (06/22/2013) [-]
Gold is more dense than water, and waterbenders pull water out of the ground or out of plants often in the Avatar universe.
Gold's softness and malleability would be invaluable here to guide it through the cracks in the rock.

Also: If you were a goldbender, you could form gold jewelry from solid blocks. This could more than halve the cost of your jewelry (once you take out the cost of the furnace and fuel for the furnace). Assuming your jewelry is of a similar quality as other, traditional goldsmiths, the market would seem to favor your jewelry.
User avatar #111 to #110 - sabcy (06/22/2013) [-]
waterbenders use evaporation, heating up the water. They then cool it to form water. all I'm saying is he can't pull it out of the ground or off of someone, why am I getting so much hate and challenges.
User avatar #117 to #111 - wheresthefudge (06/22/2013) [-]
Probably because you're wrong. And no, that's not evaporation, that's reverse osmosis. A non-spontaneous process, and similar to the idea of useing goldbending to mine gold.
User avatar #107 to #95 - phsycokidx (06/22/2013) [-]
You would be pulling it at a molecular level. I doubt rocks can smash an atom.
User avatar #109 to #107 - sabcy (06/22/2013) [-]
no, but they can collide, forcing it to stop. However, this could be usefoul to make sinkholes
User avatar #112 to #109 - phsycokidx (06/22/2013) [-]
The gold member we are speaking of is the best bender of all time, because he was created by my own mind. He is also an ink bender and can break the 4th wall and bend the outlines of other cartoon characters to brutally murder them.

I don't even know what you said, yet I feel insulted. Please be more clear and concise with your language.
User avatar #121 to #116 - phsycokidx (06/22/2013) [-]
That's because I'm an insult bender. I also spoke in perfect english. You must have not gotten the joke. That's alright. I'm also a joke bender but, on a more concise note. My original comment was a joke referring to the comic above in which a bender could bend all of the chemical elements. Based on that ability I said gold bending would be profitable. It was a joke. If the comic and the show didn't follow the laws of physics, I don't know why you think my joke would.
#98 to #95 - arstya (06/22/2013) [-]
>Logic
>Bending

Pick one. It's god damn magic, man.
User avatar #106 to #98 - sabcy (06/22/2013) [-]
but it does follow physics. earthbenders pick denser boulders, which they then throw, firebenders can't function without dryish air, air bender can't bend under water, waterbenders can't make water. Gold would not come out of the ground, and if you remember, benders can't move most objects, like how tohf couldn't simply rip the box open, she had to use physical force whilst weakening the metal.
User avatar #115 to #106 - wheresthefudge (06/22/2013) [-]
Airbenders routinely bend air underwater, firebenders have been shown firebending in the rian (that's more than 100% humidity by definition). Sure, gold wouldn't suddenly appear in the ground, but you could still locate and then pull out any veins. As to your comment about Toph, that was the very invention of metalbending, so of course it was rudimentary. Seen later, Lin Beifong was able to manipulate a metal whip and several metal walls/doors, even going so far as to use metalbending to pull her armor out of the closet and put it on.

Hate to break it to you, but fire is plasma, what you perceive as fire is the area in which the atoms of the element that makes up the surroundings have enough energy to have their electrons excited, after which they drop back to their original orbit, releasing photons in the process.

You will know our presence, you will feel our wrath, and you will know what it truly means to be encountered by Anonymous!
