This episode would have been even better if when Toph said "afraid not," Aang said "all right then, Melon Lord."

This scene was beyond ******* awesome, but if anything I was a little sad that Toph's style had changed.
A common criticism of Legend of Korra is that it took away from the Last Airbender's previous mistique; the martial art styles had largely been foregone for pro bending, more UFC-style fighting. Yes, Toph was, is, and will forever be badass, but instead of doing some badass southern mantis-style vice-grip-style earthbending, she just threw a chain. I don't miss, I sort of miss the days when Toph kicked ass martial-arts-style.
User avatar #30 to #14 - aldheim (06/13/2012) [-]
She likely still did, but the only bending she needed to do during that was the chain thing.
I can't imagine Toph would alter her style to accommodate an art that she invented.

She metalbent, not earthbent. Metalbending seems to use no stance except brute force. For example, when they tear metal doors off walls, all they do is touch the door and tear at it. They don't do a specific stance and move it.

Who is the airbender on the council?
User avatar #26 to #16 - rectangledot (06/13/2012) [-]

probably an air nomad
User avatar #21 to #20 - vedopunky (06/13/2012) [-]
he is not a nomad he is an air acyolide if i spelt that right a person who is not a bender but follows the spiritual believes of a air nomad

I had a theory that the energy bend didn't work and Yaconne came back as Amon using blood bending to create permanent chi blocking. More or less out to get the Avatar, rather than benders in general. He just happens to crush everyone in his way.
#39 to #3 - Krathalos (06/14/2012) [-]
If it didn't work, that doesn't explain why Amon can't bend. If you say it's because he doesn't want people to know, you're just grasping at straws for the theory to be correct.

He's probably a character somehow related to the lore but unknown to the viewers. Being a past character makes zero sense. He's also too bad ass to be like 100 years old.

Aang got pretty ******* serious.
It makes sense, but still, he's more badass than anything, now.
User avatar #29 - bluestationery (06/13/2012) [-]
The only reason i can see for those two not throwing off a massive amount of light is that Aang's willpower and spirit have grown to a point to where the laser show just doesn't happen.
#37 to #29 - Krathalos (06/14/2012) [-]
It doesn't do it with Amon either. I think they're just saving time when they don't show it. They wanted to stress how epic it was when he used it against Ozai, because back then, he was the only one who could.
User avatar #23 - banteringcat (06/13/2012) [-]
So when I was watching this at around 1:00 am just before Sokka gave the guilty verdict my power just flickers out. I went NOPE NOPE NOPE until it came back on.

Other than Sokka, I think they did their older voices quite well.

Sokka's older voice just doesn't resemble young Sokka at all. I don't think it needs to be deeper or anything, it just doesn't sound right. They did everyone else so well though.
