I get the feeling he is the leader of the anti-bending rebellion. That would explain that maybe he did learn bending, just chi bending.

I think the leader of the Equalists was granted the spiritual side of the avatar powers since Korra hasn't seem to unlock them yet and they specifically say that the avatar is the only person who has ever possessed the power to take away bending. So the avatar is Half Korra half Equalists leader. Also leader guy says he was born with the power to take away bending (he calls it his "gift") .
I'm willing to bet money that this is what we will find out near the end of the season.

Mhmm, could be that since only aang was able to chi-bend he could have taught it to some people like any martial art. Either way we'll figure it out as we go i suppose.

But the leader says during the revelation that his parents were killed by a fire bender. Also he said that his parents own a farm. So Bumi can not be the leader of the anti-bending rebellion due to aang and katara not dying from fire benders and katara is still alive. I may have misunderstood what you were saying and sorry if I did. Just wanted to state some things.

Well all i remembered was his father was killed by a fire bender and they never specified how aang died, and he is the avatar he could own a farm for all we know. But who knows i guess we'll find out later in the series. It was just my first thought about who.

Aang died of old age. The 100 years of avatar state int the iceberg wore down on him.

random question, but how long will the legend of Korra last? (episode wise)

Ya know thats a good question. Im not sure since she only needs to master one element, but the oncoming revolution could take a while.

Same here. It may not technically be an "anime" but its definitely better than some of the actual animes out there.
