Avatar Trivia & Theory: Book 2 Spirits. I kinda want to see the Water Tribe Civil War happen. Get some bloodshed going on in there. Bigger the stakes the bigger

I kinda want to see the Water Tribe Civil War happen. Get some bloodshed going on in there. Bigger the stakes the bigger the payoff will be in the end. Also, since this season is about spirits, we may theoretically see any and all the characters from the original series.

And a heads up for those who don't keep up with the writer's blogs and Comic-Con panels, we're eventually gonna see the first Avatar. His name is Wan and he lived ten thousand years before the events of LoK. We may even hear about other Avatars

Anyone else think Desna and Eska are just gonna somehow stay on Korra's side for some comical reason involving Bolin?
User avatar #61 to #36 - newsmyrna (09/15/2013) [-]
Nope one will stay one will leave with their father. It is established that they are close so one of them will have to choose to break from the other for drama's sake. Most likely the daughter will stay with Korra's group and the son will go with his father maybe joining the avatar at the last minute against his father at the end of the season or series depending how long they want the story arch to go on for.

Since Yue was around the same age as Sokka and Korra's father is around the same age as Tenzin, wouldn't it be more likely that Yue would be Korra's great aunt? Also, has it ever been explained why it took Korra a decade to master the elements when it only took Aang a year? It makes even less sense when you consider that Aang had to travel across the world with only a handful of other kids while Korra lived in a compound made specifically for her and was surrounded by teachers who I assume to be some of the wisest and most experienced benders of their time.
#57 to #41 - twonkli (09/15/2013) [-]
I dont think Aang actually mastered the elements in a year, he got good at it but Toph and Katara both said that aang could use a bit more work on his water and earth bending in the episode with the beach house. Also Aang was learning and applying his bending in a day to day basis with his peers much like work experience is applied to the real world while Korra's learning follows much more of a school education theme.
User avatar #53 to #41 - Kiriopolis (09/15/2013) [-]
I agree with your first statement. However, in regards to being a Fully Realized Avatar Aang is the exception, not the rule. Just like Korra, it took the other Avatars years of training in order to become a Fully Realized Avatar. My only theory as to why Aang was able to achieve it so quickly is because he was an already powerful bender (he had to earn his tattoos by proving to be a master Airbender, something most other 12 year olds couldn't do) and because he had such a strong connection to the Sprit world and the past avatars who could help him advance.
#67 to #53 - Rascal (09/15/2013) [-]
But Korra had already learned how to bend 3 elements without any real training when she was a little kid. Aang hadn't even attempted to bend any elements other than air until the beginning of the show. By all accounts, Korra showed much more potential from a much younger age.
User avatar #80 to #67 - Kiriopolis (09/16/2013) [-]
But she hadn't mastered the elements. They took Korra and made her train with every element until she was a real master with each one, as they did with every other Avatar. With Aang he had a time crunch, so it only sort of mastered the elements. But to be a FRA all one needs to do is bend all the elements simultaneously (like when Roku was done training he went to the edge of a lake or something and bended all the elements at once). I agree that if she were allowed to just breeze through the elements quickly, as Aang had, she would've been a FRA much quicker. But that's not "tradition". Again, Aang was the exception, not the rule.
User avatar #64 to #41 - commanderbunbun (09/15/2013) [-]
first, i didn't want to add any "greats" not knowing the exact number, but your estimate seems reasonable.

second, this makes me so mad when people mention it but AANG DIDN'T MASTER ALL THE ELEMENTS IN A YEAR. it took him his entire childhood to master air, about half a year for water since it came so naturally to him (and has similarities to air), as for earth he hadn't quite "mastered" it at the end of the series (toph quotes "your earthbending could still use some work" during the finale) and he NEVER mastered fire during the series. Since he had a good grip on the other 3 elements and fire was empowered by the comet, he didn't need to master it to face the fire lord. watch the finale again, you'll see he doesn't use firebending as much as the other elements and when he does they're not complex forms. considering he started his airbending training at the age of 5, it took him at least 7 years to master all the elements, air taking the longest.

whoa that was a mouthful. but at least you didn't say "LoK's technology makes no sense". then i really would've blown up like a giant friendly mushroom in the ocean.

It's their personalities, their physical resemblance, theirs complete willingness to throw around money for the dumbest things, their complete disregard for culture and tradition, and I swear to god if he at one point doesn't put on an Iron Man suit.

I was so happy when I saw the Chibi Aang, Momo and Appa at the fair game Korra and Mako were playing.

I think that Korra will be very confused and torn in between Unalaq's vision for the south (which iseems very forceful, much like how the Sozin started the 100 year war to ''share'' their wealth and culture with the other nations) and the well-being of her hometown. I think that possibly she will seek guidance from Tenzin and after doing some airbending slicing here and using Tenzin's wisdom to restore order ask him back to be her teacher. And of course there will be spirits everywhere.

To me, this seems like the ''safe and obvious'' route, and hopefully the creators will have something even more surprising.
#37 to #27 - tengoelgato (09/15/2013) [-]
I think the fair game they were playing was Meelo. It definitely looked more like him than Aang
#58 to #37 - hiccupthehuman (09/15/2013) [-]
Hey, if Meelo himself says it ain't him.... Seriously though, you can watch the avatar chibi episodes on youtube and you'll see it is Aang (there are 3 episodes: school time shipping, bending battle and swamp skiin'). Besides, Meelo isn't famous, and he would be totally unknown in the souther water tribe!
User avatar #56 to #37 - meelo (09/15/2013) [-]
I'm pretty sure it was Aang. Because Meelo has no tatoo's yet and the game showed the Avatar State when played. So yea.. It wasnt me.
User avatar #26 - redblueyellow (09/14/2013) [-]
I hope they make Korra more respectfull of airebending and banding in general. And more respectfull overal. It slightly annoys me sometimes that she takes things so lightly (like using the avatar state to win an air scooter race from 11 year olds).

I like all the other things though, like the fact that Tenzin and co are gonna travel and Korra's uncle.
User avatar #22 - klauszen (09/14/2013) [-]
"Long live the king". Unalaq will take control of the southern water tribe and lock up (if not kill) Tonraq. Also Korra deserve a Jeoffrey-like beat up for what she did to her own father and Tenzin, her past life son and teacher.

then....just don't read it. we're not gonna stop being fans just so the other countries can catch up.

just look for the episode online, there's always 1 guy with a capture card who uploads it online immediately after it airs. in fact, here it is!

You need to login to view this link

Roku was friends with firelord Sozin. Not related but that would probably mean Roku was from a powerfull family.

Atleast i dont think the firelord before Soin would accept the fact his son would always hang out with a random peasant.
User avatar #78 to #75 - commanderbunbun (09/15/2013) [-]
yes, but there are only 4 "royal" families. meaning they ruled a nation. just like the british monarchy. in the original series, the fire nation royal family had azula, ozai, zuko, etc. the two water tribe families, one being katara, sokka and hakoda, the other being yue and her father, chief arnook. the earth kingdom royal family only consisted of earth king kuei. the air nomads never had a formal government, airgo no royal family of any kind.
User avatar #79 to #78 - lotengo (09/15/2013) [-]
Yea i know, just wanted to post something. Probably Roku was kinda like the Bei Fong of the fire nation.

I love this, although I haven't watched Legend of Korra yet. I don't want to catch up to the latest episode and then wait another year to begin watching again.
