Not saying the post wasn't funny, but plenty of Roman historians talked about Jesus outside of the Bible and there are tons of hand written accounts of people who saw Jesus after rising before he supposedly ascended. The convincing evidence that Christians have is more in history and math than Science is all.

yeah im quite young and still learning.... but i would assume there was a jesus walking around, but he could have just been some crazy guy lol.. ive seen no actual proof of god himself

not to play Devil's advocate here, but if God exists and is all powerful as the Christians believe, then I would assume he'd be pretty good at covering his tracks.

hwy doesnt evolution have any "proof"?
#3 to #1 - jinkazama (06/21/2012) [-]
It does have proof. Also i'd rather believe the people who spend their entire life trying to find answers to things like this than people who found a book and decided it must be fact
User avatar #4 to #3 - niceguydan (06/21/2012) [-]
at the end of the day its still only a theory and cannot be proved 100%, and i'll admit neither can the bible, and until either can be proven 100% fact i will not waver to the other side.
#5 to #4 - jinkazama (06/21/2012) [-]
The bible is as credible as the homeless guy who sleeps on the bus. Evolution does actually have quite a bit of proof and it is no longer a theory. Now it hasn't been proved that we evolved from monkeys but it has been proven that evolution takes place
User avatar #6 to #4 - HellzReap (06/21/2012) [-]
The only reason it isn't scientific FACT is because of the pope.
User avatar #7 to #6 - niceguydan (06/22/2012) [-]
what does the pope have to do with this? he doesn't do anything for Christianity, and NO its still a theory
User avatar #8 to #7 - HellzReap (06/22/2012) [-]
A theory with more evidence than the OJ Simpson trial! All there is against it is a single book with no factual reference!
User avatar #9 to #8 - niceguydan (06/22/2012) [-]
so what you are saying is that the bible has no factual information? if that is what you are saying then you are highly mistaken. and as for the so called 'evidence' it has huge gaps missing in the fossil records which Evolution seem to rely on the most.
User avatar #10 to #9 - HellzReap (06/22/2012) [-]
So for you to believe a puzzle exists, you need to see all the pieces?

Also, please give me any factual information in the bible. For every 1 I can give you 2 pieces of absolute ******** proved wrong by science.
User avatar #11 to #10 - niceguydan (06/22/2012) [-]
the bible stated before anyone else that the earth revolves around the sun, it also stated before anyone else that the earth was a sphere. also many biblical prophesies have come true, even 100 years or so after they were talked about

It also said that stars were glimpses of heaven peaking through.

It also said that every animal in the world was in walking distance of an arc.

It also said that a man was able to live inside the mouth of a whale.

It also stated it's physically possible to walk on water.

It also stated that this "Jesus" fellow could make something out of nothing, which breaks the universal laws of physics.
User avatar #13 to #12 - niceguydan (06/23/2012) [-]
no it didn't say any of those things, and as an A2 level physics student i find it hard to believe that the universe could have started from nothing, if of course it is true. so believing in a intelligent creator makes more sense than believing that the entire universe in all its glory was created from and explosion from nothing. But assuming it is true, then we as the human race were too created from nothing.
User avatar #14 to #13 - HellzReap (06/23/2012) [-]
You say you study physics?

It's clearly not astronomical physics. Read up on the big bang before you claim to know it and then say "It was an explosion caused by nothing." And also, yes, the bible did say those things. The original bible heralded many so called 'facts' disproven by science, before King James came along and made a more believable fairy tale.
User avatar #15 to #14 - niceguydan (06/25/2012) [-]
yeah well who made the explosion?
User avatar #16 to #15 - HellzReap (06/25/2012) [-]
"Who"
"Explosion"

Wrong on both accounts, good sir. The big bang was more of a massive implosion, and happened purely because "Nothing" is impossible. In the vastness of space, matter and energy follow a certain set of laws (Widely accepted as 'String theory,') the most basic of which is gravity. Matter attracts to itself, whereas energy moves from it's source in the form of radiation.

String theory implies that the universe is far more heavy than should be. Why is this? Because there is a lot of matter which is fickle and unobserved. This matter is called "Dark matter," called so simply because of it's invisibility. What does this have to do with your question, though?

Upon observing the way matter and energy act when approaching the event horizon of a black hole, we learn how they acted 'Before' the big bang. As they move closer to the black hole, they approach the speed of light, causing time itself to slow down. In the incredibly dense state of a black hole, we see reflected space before there was matter. What's at the center, you ask? Absolute nothingness. No space, no matter, no energy, and most important, no time.

When asked "Who caused the big bang," Steven Hawking (The most trusted physicist of our time,) said "That question makes no sense. Before the big bang, there was no space; no time for anyone to create anything."

If you're not so dense as to stop caring about the matter simply because you've been proved wrong, I suggest you research it a bit more thoroughly. This entire matter was discussed in the Science channel's series "Curiosity," episode one. If you require a more trusted source, check out Hawking's book.

copying and pasting a wiki page does not make you smart. in fact it is impossible to have nothing, so therefore if there was nothing before the big bang then it would never have happened. and string theory actually talks about time and spacial dimensions existing within one another.
