ASIANS CAN ACTUALLY READ MINDS!!!!!!!!!!!
They can hear, and see what you're visually thinking. This is the absolute complete truth!!!!!

The reason a lot of Asians have completely expressionless faces is so they don't accidentally show facial expressions when people think things they don't like, find funny, astonishing, etc, and Asians segregate so their not nearly as susceptible to that happening.
Asians also segregate, and are untalkative to avoid accidentally saying things that are similar to what people are thinking and going to say.

Try thinking, and visually picturing things that are as wild as you can when you are around Asians, and look for Asians who give people dirty/particular looks for what appears to be for completely no reason.

PLEASE SPREAD THE MESSAGE!!!!! THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW THIS!!!!!

No where in the bible does god, nor Jesus, condemn masturbation. Masturbation is actually healthy, as long as you aren't over doing it. It keeps your urethra clear, helps it expand, helps regulate a healthy flow of endorphins to the brain, reduces the urge to have sex, reduces stress, can help you sleep, and is good for your heart.

As a christian who has sat down and read and studied the bible, and doesn't listen to church preaching lies about hell and what not, I encourage healthy masturbation.

So wank on. Just make sure you clean up the mess.

Oh, and this:
9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled [it] on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
10 And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.
Genesis 38:9-10

While it doesn't say "don't masturbate", the lesson learned includes "don't masturbate" because you're spilling seed, right?
User avatar #197 to #189 - Byte (05/01/2013) [-]
The seed was the fertilizing infant inside her womb. He cut her open and spilled her womb because he did not want to raise his brothers son, or his "seed" for she was recently impregnated.

A guy named Oman was killed by God for spilling his seed not in a woman but upon the ground. Since every sperm is sacred, any depositing of ejaculate that is not for procreation is considered a sin.

Somewhere near the end of mark it talks about cutting off your right hand it if causes you to sin or gouging out your right eye just as an example saying it's better to go to heaven without both hands or both eyes than go to hell with both eyes and hands. Now if you understood any of that, people interpreted it to mean, "don't watch porn or wank"
#358 to #162 - anon (05/02/2013) [-]
Matt 5:28-30[Jesus:] "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell."

Exodus 20:14 "Thou shalt not commit adultery."

In the bible, adultery is a sin by the word of God. Adultery, in the bible, is the act of having sex out of wed-lock. Jesus says that visualizing somebody with you is the same as having sex with them due to it being a guilty pleasure of the mind. If you've looked at them that way, its a sin. If you've used your 'right hand' then you've sinned. You're guilty of adultery in the eyes of the lord.

If the Church preaches this as a lie? Then so did Jesus

The original scrolls spoke of "Gehenna" which was a "bad lands" pit outside of Jerusalem. at one point, used to burn trash and waste in. YHWH, the Hebrew god's name, roughly translated as Yah, Yahweh, or Jehovah, said that he would "cast evil into Gehenna" into the trash, and will be "struck from the book of life, and from my memory". So what happens when you throw something in the trash? It's gone, yes?

Hell came into play when the King James bible was written and the Greek translation borrowed the word Gehenna, and adapted the theory of Hades from Greek mythology, so the churches of the 16th century could scare the people into giving their money, lives, and lands, to the church, as well as passing lords and kings to leave everything in their will to the church in exchange to promise they wont go to hell.

Why does not believing in hell make him great?
I think it's kind of a natural thing like people who believe in karma or that everyone will get what they deserve.
It's not like he believes it's his job to spread false hope.
#223 to #186 - spearmint (05/01/2013) [-]
Assuming that there is a being that judges what happens to our consciousness when we die, even the most evil person on earth does not deserve an eternity in hell. Neither does someone who has only just scraped through the judgement and reached heaven deserve the same bliss as the person who has done the most good on earth.

The punishment of hell is infinitely too severe for what, relatively, is an infitesimally short test. However, Hare Krishnas believe (I am not one or know everything about them so sorry if this is inaccurate) in what I think is a much fairer view of the afterlife where you work towards heaven step by step through reincarnation. That might be closer to the sort of karma you believe in.
User avatar #240 to #223 - sketchysketchist (05/01/2013) [-]
I believe you're going to pay for all your mistakes in hell in a fair way when you die and then you'll either go to heaven or stay in hell because you don't learn your lesson or something.
The reencarnation thing sounds reasonable, but I've heard it's all B.S. created by leaders to make the masses submissive and afraid of fighting the rich because they may be reborn as frogs, and the fact that the only reason the rich are rich are because they earned it in a past life so hating them is working against the mighty deity's work.

That's very close to how I view it. Plus the fact that the scriptures don't say anything about a hell.

I believe that some day the answer will come for everyone. And it wont be a who was right and who was wrong. I believe our world will someday find a way for religion and science to work together to unlock the mysteries of life.

For me, Science is the how, Religion is the why. I am a complete science nerd, with an IQ of 162, and will never stop perusing to know more of the how. But I am also religious, and will continue to hold fast to my faith, and learn more of the why, and let the two come together.

Like this gif. I could get into a huge lecture of physics as for how the bullets are causing mist, causing a rainbow. But why do rainbows form in the spectrum of water particles? Science can still explain the how, and a reasoning of why, but not truly the why. The answer to the why would simply be "Because it's beautiful".

And that is why I am religious. I find so much beauty and balance in science to believe it was an accident or a coincidence.

But that is just my belief. : )

I'm positive it's all made up for ulterior motives. You know, justifying murder in war, taking money from people, and so forth. I'm more of, do good no matter what and celebrate the things that lead us to where we are even though the road to our existence is paved in blood.

And yes, those people are just the people with ulterior motives.
Like the parents that tell you to stay in bed or the monster under your bed with get you, because they're tired of you staying up after dark and walking into their room during sexy time.
Yes, that analogy work positively fine.

I don't know about you, but a lot of these quotes seem to condemn a lot of sexual things. What else would they be referring to? (and no, they're not ALL adultery)
www.openbible.info/topics/masturbating
User avatar #210 to #184 - Byte (05/01/2013) [-]
A lot of these are quotes from the old testament. Actually, all of them are. Back when you were expected to be married by the age of puberty. Laws were different back then.

It's also hard for most to understand the message unless you read over it a few times and really think on it. Note key words like "immorality" and "lustful" and the like. Words that tie to perversion. If you were to masturbate to the thought of a woman, that would be considered immoral. If you were to masturbate to the imagination of say your future wife or someone who doesn't exist, that would not be.

Today's standards are much different. The Bible does clarify that you abide by the laws of the land, unless they are a direct violation against his word. Since you cannot marry until you are 16-18, and most men are single, or have girlfriends and are struggling with puberty. Thus, to prevent pre marital sex, accidental children, rape, ******* up your life, masturbation is by far the better route.

Back then, you didn't need to masturbate because by the time your junk was fully functional, you had a bride. Thus was considered a filthy habit by law of the land. Today, it is a healthy practice and should be done, especially since the law of the land conflicts with your natural growth and hormones.

[sorry for the book long post!]

Way to make my idea even sadder.
I shall never donate anything to a religious cause ever again.
#235 to #217 - Byte (05/01/2013) [-]
It depends on who/what you donate to/for. Are you donating towards the church? or towards a campaign?

By all means do not spend your money on the church. But do help those who need it. But not all churches are trustworthy. Some sects are non-profit. They are rare but they are out there. One big one that is highly over looked is Jehovah's Witnesses. They are usually hated on for being pushy and rude, but that's only because they are the more well known door to door. The pushy ones are the door to door baptists who ask for money, put their foot in the door, etc, and are usually mistaken as witnesses and give them a seriously bad rep.

Witnesses are non-profit. Which is why they give you their books, booklets, study books, anything for free. It's all done on volunteer work. You can find them at kingdom halls. They do not have a church nor a membership either. And instead of collecting money, they set up days where they take over a soup kitchen, help build a homeless shelter, set up a banquet cook food for the needy, etc.

Some united churches are non-profit as well, but are also hard to find. At least around here.

Pentecostal down south are usually very nice, and will do similar acts. But they are hard to find up north.

I guess the key point is, avoid the ones that are pushy about money and memberships. Find the ones more concerned about giving to, not taking from.

Most churches, not all, but most, that are profit only are Catholic, Baptist, United, and north Pentecostal.

Just need to see. Are they charging you a ton of money for a candy bar? or is there simply a donation box? Are they asking to talk to you? Or shoving their foot in the door and demanding you read.

I guess the simplest way to put it is, find the religious sects that behave like Jesus. Who are there not to be served, but to serve.

Why would aliens want to contact us? And how do we know our technology isn't just too inefficient to detect signals? All we have is the "wow signal". Radiowave signals dissipates after a lightyear and get mixed with the background noise of the Big bang. If they wanted to contact us via radiowaves, they would have to get past the Kuiper's belt, and into our own solar system. I don't think they have enough time to go trough the 200.000.000+ stars in our galaxy.
And if they want to contact us via light signals, like lasers, they would have to be EXTREMELY careful at aiming. They'd have to calculate the Earth's spin around our sun, our sun's spin around the galaxy, take into account how the planets like Jupiter affect (only a "little") the sun. They'd have to take into account all of that years before that light gets to Earth. All that light has to travel light years without some planet, moon, comet, meteor, or anything gets in the way. They'd have to calculate how our moon's gravity slows down the Earth's rotation by 4 cm per year, and include earthquakes like the one in Japan that shifted Earth's axis between 10 cm and 25 cm and shortened days in 1,8 microseconds. It doesn't seem like much but it has to be taken into account in space's grate distances. And as much technology as they can have, I think they'd need to get to Earth to know if an earthquake is gonna happen.
And we probably can't detect their ships either by them being fueled by Hydrogen (a great fuel that's all over the universe), Dark matter (also all over the universe) so we can't know for sure when Dark matter or Hydrogen are being used in extraterrestrial ships or if it's there because the universe is like that. Another efficient (at the time theoretical) way of travel is Alcubierre's travel. It's a ship that doesn't move, but shifts space around it, and could travel faster than the speed of light.

Why would aliens want to contact us? Might as well ask why WE want to to contact THEM.
Assuming these aliens have superior technology and have been around longer (as we've Goldilocks planets that are older than us with stars older than ours) we may also presume they would have superior ability to observe. So, if wanting to contact us (let's assume, since, as an intelligent creature want to contact aliens that they have an interest in us) they would probably be able to see our tech isn't as advanced. Ergo, they could create transmission we could receive in some way or some form.

There is also the evolutionary standpoint of the paradox. That is to say, evolution exists to keep a species alive. However, evolution in itself is not a thinking entity with particular goals of creation in mind. The fact that we have evolved in such the way we have to possess our high cognitive ability is a high improbability and to see it repeated in the universe at many multiple intervals (such as science fiction would show) is even vaster an improbability. To evolve the way we did, our evolution scaled a great mountain.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not against the idea of aliens. I'm not really for them either, though. I just say "I don't know." There is plenty of argument in favor of their existence but the Fermi paradox, when fully illustrated, serves as an excellent argument against them. But, like I said, I don't really fall on either side. Both have their points.

About the evolutionary standpoint of the paradox, I only have to say that I am intrigued as why did we humans evolve to have such large brains, when the main objective of evolution is only to survive. But as improbable as this seems, and even taking into account Drake's equation, I think something is out there, simply because of the massive scale of the universe, and also because of the probability of panspermia, being this more probable with extremophiles like tardigrades (check them out sometime).
And it's good having reasonable people on both sides of an argument, and having a reasonable argument as well, because it's an exchange of ideas that helps get to the truth of something.

It is a very fascinating subject. And in response to your image: likewise to you, sir.
