Because we no longer live in biblical times and the so called ethics of that age are for the most part completely nonsensical

These are not ethics declared by people, they are declarations of god. The bible describes god as omniscient and never changing. So no they just don't become "pointless" because of the change of era.

Well, if you really believe that these are the rules thrown down by some deity, then that's your prerogative.

I don't believe it, I'm just simply implying that if you are going to use a certain book to prove a ******* religion, I don't quite understand how people can nitpick at what they would like to follow. Especially the whole "it was during that time" argument doesn't make sense to me when it's an order from an omniscient deity.

Well, remember, the book itself was written by people. The Gospels, Revelations, the books of Moses, even Genesis was penned by a human being. They just claimed to be working diction for their God. So even though it's supposed to be God's word, people are the ones who wrote it down. The King James Bible is about 400 years old. People change in that time, and if there is a God telling people new/revived things, we aren't listening. Unless you count the Mormons.

I know all of this lol, my main point is if you are going to call it the word of god (excluding all of the facts related to the creation of the book, and trust me it goes much deeper than constant revisions after time, it actually was revised numerous times before its release and acceptance through organized religion) then act like its the word of god.

I am a Christian. A CHRISTian. No fundamentalism at all. We are told to disregard the readings of the past. Which means I am fine with gays, i am fine with pretty much everything. I even shave and everything. If Jesus didn't talk about it then it doesn't matter hence CHRISTianity.

To the best of my knowledge. Do you not follow them? Besides of course the want of other things? Do you murder and steal often? They are good morals. If you could not want things like your buddy's wife then your relationship has less chance of being stressed does it not?

Oh no, I was mainly asking because the ten commandments are in the old testament so if you follow them then you have to accept the old testament into christianity, otherwise your picking and choosing which you want to believe of gods word.

But you actually help the arguments atheist's make that there doesn't need to be a god for morality.

You don't need a god for morality but for those with weaker wills it helps. There are arguments that weaker willed people should be taken out by natural selection but we don't live in that society anymore. Not all things are to be taken out. Jesus said to follow the mandate of god as brought down from Moses from the mountain. Not those made up by the leaders of the Jews. My father was a professor of theology. I read the mandates of the Jews 95% of them were not issued by any relevance to the Christian god. I now refer to the now very popular Gandhi quote, "I love your Christ, but not your Christians." in the wrong hands Christianity is a horrible thing. But in the right hands it can lead those who are not quite well enough to lead themselves and have no one else to do it.

Well I can't really think what to say, anything I would go on with would be semantics (Jewish and Christian god being the same, connection from those brought from moses to the old testament, etc etc etc) but I really don't feel like going so far into something with someone who isn't even apart of the problem.

do they mean two seeds in the same hole or a person can only plant one kind of seed

It says that god told them to not plant 2 of the same seed in their vineyard. So it may be just saying to not mix plants in the same area.

I would assume so, probably because of the conditions under each can grow properly they may just hurt one another or another can become dominant and take all the sources of nutrients from the other. But I'm just guessing.

Atleast the good lord realized to give us good farming techniques in his holy word, not any real medical knowledge or anything....but atleast we know not to plant apples and petunias with one another.
