Just a question: I recently bought AC Brotherhood in a Steam sale, and I was wondering, why does everyone complain so much about that game? So far it's my favorite of the series. It has so much to do.

Brotherhood is my second favorite, #2 being my favorite. I really didn't like revelations or III

People complained about it because the story was short in length (naturally, due to the addition of multiplayer). When you compare it to II, which had about 14 sequences, (and Brotherhood only has 9), you can begin to see the difference. It can be argued that the story wasn't much either, again, when compared to the II. And the locales are limited to Rome alone, as opposed to the multi-faceted environment that was Firenze, Venezia, and Forli (back in II). The strong points in Brotherhood were it's improvements in combat A.I., it's use of combat killstreaks, and Rome - architecture-wise. People also pick on the multiplayer, which was flawed primarily due to it's reliance on player cooperation, and if Assassin's Creed lore has taught you something, it should be that people are ignorant and stupid and incapable of following the simplest of instructions, such as sneaking around and not running like their ass is on fire. I sincerely hope that answered your question.
User avatar #22 to #19 - thepyras (03/25/2013) [-]
It does I guess, but the sequences seemed to be shorter in AC2. The entire campaign was around 10 hours, whereas I'm at 17 hours in Brotherhood and I'm somewhere in sequence 6 I believe. As for the multiplayer, 2 didn't even have that, so it was hard to compare it to anything, and if you play with friends instead of the preteens that you get stuck with then it works out pretty well. That's actually what I like about the multiplayer, it's not just something to pick up and play like COD, it's a bit more sophisticated.
User avatar #21 to #19 - forbesydemon (03/25/2013) [-]
Multiplayer gets really good once you reach a higher level as all the players know how to do things properly and it becomes really tense as you're trying to find the enemy. But yeah, when you start there's idiots running around everywhere making it really easy.

**** the haters. I loved Revelations. After reading the comments below, you gotta remember, Revelations wasnt about villains or anything, it was about answers and concluding Ezio's story, which is EXACTLY what it did. Ezio's legacy was carved in stone and is one of the best ever told. As for the Desmond story in Revelations, I enjoyed it as well. I mean, cmon guys, you got to meet Subject 16. Those platforming levels were a nice little twist as well. Not only that, but you got to learn more about Altair! Idk, I just enjoyed the Ezio trilogy above Assassin's Creed 1 and 3

I preferred number 2 but fail to understand why people disliked Brotherhood so much. I think they looked at the leap in quality between the original and number 2 and were disappointed by the leap for Brotherhood as there was less of an overhaul, excluding the property buying etc which I loved thoroughly. But we can all agree, Revelations was terrible.

I still need to play 2. I guess that makes sense, but Brotherhood was part of the subseries that was AC2. I actually really enjoyed Revelations when I played it, but I'm beginning to see now how much it pales in comparison to Brotherhood.
#10 to #9 - forbesydemon (03/25/2013) [-]
The reason I disliked it is they pretty much just took Brotherhood, gave it a few small gadgets and chucked Ezio into a different location. It did very little to advance Ezio's story and the Desmond story wasn't very good either. I can't even remember the Desmond story that's how little I enjoyed it. And now IV is coming out and I hope it doesn't turn into a medieval Call of Duty, where one is released nearly every year and they stop bothering trying to make them amazing games.

Too long to find more AC pics. Got more vidya ones though.

I have severely high hopes for IV. Pirates are always a good time. But yeah, I hope they don't go overboard and make them once a year from here out, but they actually are working on more than one at any given time. Ubisoft has multiple studios.

Yeah, I made that one a while back. But here's an enormous .gif from Black Flag.

Yeah Ubisoft are doing pretty well at the moment and doing the right things when it comes to producing good games and are providing good customer service. I normally borrow games from mates, but Far Cry 3 was the first game I bought in quite a while. I'm sure they'll be sensible about it and continue to create good quality games.

Hopefully they will, and they really seem focused on the art style of the AC series, which is what draws me in to every game.

That's my worry too. Pretty soon the new assassins will just be fillers and they're only gonna be there for the sake of being there. Here's to hoping that will not happen.
User avatar #29 to #27 - thepyras (03/25/2013) [-]
I desperately hope it doesn't. I also don't want a modern-day AC, but I suppose Watch Dogs will serve as a test for that.

Anon here, the reason Brotherhood is my favorite is the villain - while most of I is spent without even knowing who the villain is, II has somewhat memorable villains. However, I feel Brotherhood really has a strong villain (Caesar Borgia). they make his character unlikable enough that the boss fight at the end is pretty awesome imo

And Revelations was terrible. Fun game play but I don't even know who the villain was. With III the villain was obvious but they didn't really explain why he was evil. Not to mention Conner could have killed him at multiple points in the story (once they are sitting in the same room).
User avatar #16 to #14 - thepyras (03/25/2013) [-]
Agreed on that. Cesare was a pretty unlikable character, which is really what a good villain needs. I wanted him to die from the beginning of the game. Although, I think we can probably agree that the real villain was his wife. I wished so badly that I could have just stabbed her when I first broke in to the mansion.
User avatar #17 to #14 - forbesydemon (03/25/2013) [-]
Agreed, the use of a "Big bad boss" style thing in Brotherhood was a great idea. It gave you someone to hate and you kept playing until that dick was dead. Revelations not so much.
#53 to #8 - Rascal (03/25/2013) [-]
I have yet to dislike a game in the AC series. I just thoroughly enjoy these games. It just makes you feel so badass.

.. I found out just 20 minutes ago that my Xbox put a circle scratch on my Assassin's Creed and broke it.. It wasn't upright, moved, or anything. I wish I had enough money for a gaming PC.

you can rent or borrow a copy of the game from a friend and install it to your system and it will work like new

User avatar #68 to #67 - brutallyhonest (03/25/2013) [-]
But don't you still need a working disk to play it, even when playing it from the hard drive? Isn't the installing thing just to prevent overheating?
User avatar #70 to #68 - semilunarknight (03/25/2013) [-]
Your disk should work fine as long as you play from hard drive
User avatar #71 to #70 - brutallyhonest (03/25/2013) [-]
So, get a working game from my friend, put in my Xbox and install, and then I won't need a working disk to play?
User avatar #72 to #71 - semilunarknight (03/25/2013) [-]
Nope, did it with my soul calibur. The disk only needs to be read to the extent that the xbox will know what game it is, so unless it's damaged beyond recognition it should still work. You'll hear it spin for a second or two then stop and the game will play.
