Well my only interaction with it is Parkway Drive's song "Ice" which uses part of it. So beyond that I don't have a clue what it's about

I never understood it, and that kept me from liking it.

I had the opposite problem, I always felt that they repeated the same god damn information over and over, acting surprised despite the were informed of stuff not a few minutes prior

Or worse yet when they do a reveal on stuff you figured out episodes ago

...That's cool.

It is overly pretentious...but I dunno...I kinda like it. You could do worse.

If you ignore the pretentiousness and bad animation post episode 20, it's a pretty good show. The chilling moments, cast, and great OST easily make up for its faults in my eyes.

Honestly? I was fine with the show up until the middle, I just thought it was alright and didn't really deserve the high praze

and then the second part came in, and it slowly erroded my patience with it trying to me intelegent than it was, being pretentious, and blah blah blah

And ofcourse the show seems better if you ignroe the worst parts about it

The beginning of the show just felt like Monster of the Week though and I didn't like that.

I was alright with the monster of the week stuff, because a lot of big robot animes do that and if you don't learn to deal with that then you're just gonna have a bad time.

My problems started to pop up when the episodes stopped being about stoping the angels and more about the people piloting them, that is to say, i was forced to see less of the best part of the show, like that episode where they had to be 100% synced to take the thing down, and so the end fight lasted maybe 30 seconds after about 21 minutes of ******** whining.

The only good one that came from those was the episode with the angel that was trying to hack the place (though I thought the conclusion was stupid) and the one with the angel in space, but only because that spear chucking scene was ******* metal

The repeated information was pretty ******* bad but all the symbolism I tried to ignore and I found that more enjoyable. Enough that the high points of the show made up for the low points to a good 7/10 from me.

2-3/10 for me, It was the overly high praze compared to how ****** I felt the anime was what really got me

I would be alright with it if it didn't have such a rabid fanbase, like if it was just an obscure little thing, but no, it is absolutely huge, with a consiterable following ready and willing to bow down and blow the thing at a moment's notice, and I just don't get it
User avatar #115 to #114 - yusay (08/25/2013) [-]
That's because you only see the rabid fans. A very, very large portion try not to even talk about the show in fear of being associated with those fans.

As for you saying ignoring the monster of the week part and just dealing with it, that's pretty much all I did for the pretentious parts.

I actually enjoyed the shift to the cast growth. If it was only fighting angels I felt that the show would have gotten very boring.

Having a monster of the week isn't really dealing with it, so much as something you have to accept because it comes with the territory of the genre, just like you learn to just to deal with filler in long running action anime, or how you learn to tolerate melodrama if you start watching a romance anime

Episode 20? It starts getting pretentious around 12.

No, I meant bad animation post episode 20.

You hate it... alright, and you are posting this in a evangelion post, because... you want to share your hate with us?
User avatar #110 to #75 - franklyimaperson ONLINE (08/25/2013) [-]
More or less, yeah, here I was browsing FJ when an Evangelion post came out of nowhere, and reminded me of the show I hate, so I voiced my opinion
