Among many reasons there is the biggest of this:

>Says "See you space cowboy"
>Doesn't see you

I mean wtf is this
#49 to #28 - captainp (10/26/2013) [-]
The whole 'big three' dub is nice thanks to the wild west in space setting. Outlaw star is wonky, but I give it a pass.
User avatar #55 to #28 - thedutchs (10/26/2013) [-]
Samurai Champloo too.

Mugen and Spike are done by the same voice actor

Why do anime fans hate dubbed content so much? **** reading subtitles.
User avatar #15 to #14 - ipaintmyfloor (10/26/2013) [-]
It's because they find english voice actors to be annoying. Some even believe that dubbing loses some of the translation. Honestly yes some VAs are extremely annoying. I personally find Monica Rial to be the most annoying voice actress currently acting. It's also true that some of the dialogue is not translated as well in dubs as they are in subs, although it's barely any different. When characters have catch phrases it can be annoying in english or hard to imitate correctly.

I watch dubs if every episode is dubbed and the VAs aren't completely annoying. I probably watch half of my anime dubbed.
User avatar #16 to #14 - cozer (10/26/2013) [-]
The Japanese voices usually are just better. It feels alot more organic to what is happening and it just feels right, it feels like they're actually feeling pain or sadness rather than someone trying to act in pain or act sad. There are exceptions of course, but for the most part the Japanese voices are alot better.
User avatar #17 to #16 - KazumaKyu (10/26/2013) [-]
When you've watched enough subbed anime, eventually it starts feeling like they're speaking the words you're reading anyway.
User avatar #20 to #17 - cozer (10/26/2013) [-]
Yeah, that to. You pick up alot of stuff and it becomes easier to read and understand it all. I can understand how some people feel though, you can concentrate more on the anime when you don't have to read, but it's not that bad at all if you're a fast reader, it's pretty much negligible for me.
User avatar #18 to #14 - whycanticaps (10/26/2013) [-]
I like dubs, but I really only prefer them in certain settings. Like london, so shows like Hellsing, or Black Butler I'd prefer to watch dubbed
User avatar #69 to #14 - devilofscience (10/29/2013) [-]
Watch the scenes of A certain magical index that have Accelerator in both English dubs and the original subs you'll understand. Though to clarify this literally is a worst case scenario and I do enjoy many shows in dub which is far more convenient, when you hear a voice that is so out of place in a show you like it really drives you nuts.
User avatar #43 to #14 - Grom (10/26/2013) [-]
depends if it's a fan dub or official dub, 99.9% of fan dubs have horrible voice actors and also translate wrong a lot of the time. official dubs are better, but I find certain voice actors to be really ******* annoying (such as the voice actors that play Naruto, Ichigo, and Alphonse Elric)
User avatar #45 to #43 - princelaharl (10/26/2013) [-]
I agree with you about naruto but What is wrong with the other two? They play in almost everything funimation has dubbed. Is it tone? Lines? What don't you like about them?
User avatar #46 to #45 - Grom (10/26/2013) [-]
Alphonse doesn't bother me that much, it just came to the top of my head.
Ichigo's voice actor doesn't bother me in other anime but I find him to be a horrible fit for Bleach. I find his pitch too high, the tone of his voice too whiny, and either too much emotion or not enough depending on the scene.
User avatar #47 to #46 - princelaharl (10/26/2013) [-]
yeah ichigo (Johnny yong bosch) did get a bit over emotional. he was better in trigun honestly. but then again i didnt really care for bleach after season two. and alphonse (vic mignogna) doesnt really have many main char roles other than al and that is what he actually sounds like.
User avatar #19 to #14 - OsamaBinLadenz (10/26/2013) [-]
I have no problem with dubbed shows. Personally, I liked FMA dubbed better. I'm not sure what it is, I just don't see the characters having the voices they have in the Japanese versions. Pokemon Origins and Sword Art Online don't even have English dubs yet, but they still sound good though.
#21 to #19 - MDrDeathC (10/26/2013) [-]
SAO has dubs. DOn't know about pokeymans.
User avatar #22 to #21 - OsamaBinLadenz (10/26/2013) [-]
Really? Huh, I heard otherwise. The original of SAO is still really good, though.
#64 to #22 - MDrDeathC (10/26/2013) [-]
I agree, although the light novels are a bit better. I say this understanding and annoying that it's annoying how it jumps around in chronology with all the side stories.

dubbed anime isnt THAT bad....
admittedly its worse than subbed but for people with poor reading skills its alright
User avatar #7 to #5 - jamesisawesome (10/25/2013) [-]
It's only worse than subbed in either extremely bad cases, E.G. Sailor moon, 4kids One Piece, probably a few others I can't remember. Anyone who goes in with an unbiased mindset will admit that subs and dubs are usually about the same in terms of quality.
User avatar #9 to #7 - aedai (10/25/2013) [-]
Generally, I like subbed a tiny bit more simply because it was made that way. But dubs can be very good.
User avatar #11 to #5 - derein (10/25/2013) [-]
Black Lagoon had really good dubs. And I personally think that the Stein's;Gate dub isn't that bad either.

I don't care either way, really. It's all about whichever version will be easier to find for me.
#26 to #5 - anon (10/26/2013) [-]
here i think the complaint is more that the characters are supposed to be from England but lack any sort of british accent, though i can't be 100% sure as i haven't watched it dubbed on the grounds that the voice they use for accelerator in the sub is absolutely perfect for the role given how well he portrays the character's insanity, which is something not many voice actors can pull off.

same reason i can't watch future diary dubbed. i like the voice actress, but she's just far too sane to be yuno

pic mildly related to both
#41 to #5 - anon (10/26/2013) [-]
Girls Bravo I found to be unwatchable in any form besides dub simply because it's way funnier.

It's very rare but does happen. I preferred Black Lagoon in English because it made a lot more sense.
User avatar #61 to #42 - germed (10/26/2013) [-]
I didn't like the Black Lagoon dub, it's not so much that the VA's were bad, it's just I couldn't really get into it when every second word was ' ***** . It might be like that in Japanese as well but I don't speak it so I didn't notice either way.

Also Revy's Japanese VA sounds like a complete badass.

User avatar #56 to #54 - admiralen ONLINE (10/26/2013) [-]
its good in the beginning, and later on, but i think the author went mad somewhere, now he randomly releases chapters once every two years and does arcs that makes no sence about stupid things that makes no sence, like ant people
#58 to #56 - fingernails (10/26/2013) [-]
I love the ant arc
User avatar #59 to #58 - admiralen ONLINE (10/26/2013) [-]
it just makes no sence to me, they just create god after god (not literal gods but creatures that can beat the strongest hunters) and kill of random people and **** up gon and then he starts afking when its done
User avatar #60 to #59 - fingernails (10/26/2013) [-]
I think hunter x hunter is just one of those shows where I don't want to see no wrong in

Meh the Index dub was alright, Railgun was horrible though and Misaka's voice was just plain annoying, so yea, most dubs suck nowadays.
User avatar #70 to #10 - devilofscience (10/29/2013) [-]
Oh come now don't say that, there are plenty of shows that do it right, and besides you said so yourself index was "meh" which meant they weren't all that bad.
User avatar #71 to #70 - neocortex (10/29/2013) [-]
Indeed, I fairly enjoyed some dubs, but you know how it is, you can't say you like it on a site with so many hardcore anime lovers that think only the original Japanese version is good.

Like I said, I didn't mind Index dub, also liked the dub of Angel Beats! or Another for example although it was better in Japanase^^

Subbed anime ruins any amount of seriousness.
Vegeta fighting Goku is **** when they both sound like 11 year olds.
Dubbed is always better.
User avatar #2 - TheMather ONLINE (10/25/2013) [-]
That reminds me. I wonder what Touma says in the dub then in the final episode where he makes the grand statement that he has finally decided to learn English, since everyone else has had to use Japanese for his sake.
User avatar #3 to #2 - fjusernumberone (10/25/2013) [-]
Probably just put something completely different over top of it. No need to bring up languages when it's all the same one.
