Death Note in a nutshell "I kill anyone that gets in my way, but im the good guy."

Actually I was on Light's side for maybe 2 or 3 episodes, after that he was definitely not the 'good guy'

Reminds me of Handsome Jack from Borderlands2

He does it so he can kill you again, and again and again, and he takes a lot of money from you as well

You have a point, never thought of it that way, kinda explains the "Kill yourself"-mission in Eridium Blight....

He's not really the good guy though. There is no definite good or bad guy in the series. Light was committing crimes in order to better the world, and while L was technically fighting crime but his methodology was extremely inhumane at times. They are both relatively amoral protagonist rather than having a clear cut good or bad guy.

... And that is why we have split communities; Those who favour the logic of L, and those who favour the brilliance of Go- I mean Light...

Jesse and Walt only kill people who will harm them or their family, whether it may be in a direct or indirect way.

But....he starts out with good morals and Ideas, then goes power crazy. I can't say much more because I have only seen the first season but...
I dunno, kinda like Hitler.

I actually hated Light right in the start. I thought the kid was full of himself and, as soon as he gets the death note, he proves that he is even more full of himself than I think by assassinating people, thinking that he has the right to judge (I don't defend serial killers, but sometimes you have no idea what happened before a murder or the causes leading to it). There are a ******* of opinions and ways to judge someone (if you're in places like FJ for a long time, you know that better than anyone), we all have different perspectives and Light was casting his in the world thinking that he was a god. Soon, the whole world started to fear him, and living in fear does not suit humans.
L was the true justice.
I cried so much when he passed away, Near and Mello weren't the same. Though I liked Mello a little more.

>"L was the true justice."
>Headline: Kira killed
>Crime skyrockets to normal levels
>Innocent people are killed/raped/kidnapped/robbed of all belongings
>"L was the true justice."

Light has gotten mentally ****** up, but at least he was saving people. The scum he'd have killed wouldn't have gone off to make someone's life a living hell. The actions of every idealistic ******** who think "Kira should die because killing is bad" are now responsible for the crimes Kira could've stopped because their actions directly affect the livelihoods of people who wouldn't have been wrong by the scum Light killed. Now tell me, who is more just, the idealistic, politically correct **** who believes rapists, murderers, and hundred-thousand $ scale thieves should be in jail wasting taxpayer money (something that doesn't effectively repel criminals) OR the power crazy mad man who feels that killing those who take away lives and livelihoods is more or less the essence of "an eye for an eye"? Still disagree? Then ask yourself: who causes more suffering through their actions?

Light isn't the type of person I would want to know, but he is the type I love in shows. He was cool, logical, and emotionless (by the end he was anyway). He was like that super-cool secret agent and I just appreciate that kind of character every once in a while.
L was great and weird and I connected with him in a strange way and that was great on a whole different level.

As anon said, he was smart and probably would have won. He was killing people he thought deserved to die, in a (reasonably good) attempt to cleans the species and make a better world. The objective was good (at first) he just went about it an immoral way. He also went a little far with the 'I will be god' thing....

Except he WAS like hitler, he stood to end degeneracy, crime and corruption, the thing is like the comment bellow me says, he was too full of himself and got blinded by that, but his ideals where the right ones and he would have win if not for the idiot at the end who ***** up his plan (don't remember the name)
