Death Note in a nutshell "I kill anyone that gets in my way, but im the good guy."
#120 to #13 - anon (07/08/2013) [-]
Actually I was on Light's side for maybe 2 or 3 episodes, after that he was definitely not the 'good guy'

Jesse and Walt only kill people who will harm them or their family, whether it may be in a direct or indirect way.
#26 to #13 - rdobet (07/08/2013) [-]
He's not really the good guy though. There is no definite good or bad guy in the series. Light was committing crimes in order to better the world, and while L was technically fighting crime but his methodology was extremely inhumane at times. They are both relatively amoral protagonist rather than having a clear cut good or bad guy.

... And that is why we have split communities; Those who favour the logic of L, and those who favour the brilliance of Go- I mean Light...

Reminds me of Handsome Jack from Borderlands2

He does it so he can kill you again, and again and again, and he takes a lot of money from you as well

You have a point, never thought of it that way, kinda explains the "Kill yourself"-mission in Eridium Blight....
User avatar #17 to #13 - tigersstripes (07/08/2013) [-]
But....he starts out with good morals and Ideas, then goes power crazy. I can't say much more because I have only seen the first season but...
I dunno, kinda like Hitler.

"Death Note, it's kinda like Hitler"
#71 to #32 - anon (07/08/2013) [-]
Except he WAS like hitler, he stood to end degeneracy, crime and corruption, the thing is like the comment bellow me says, he was too full of himself and got blinded by that, but his ideals where the right ones and he would have win if not for the idiot at the end who ***** up his plan (don't remember the name)
#107 to #71 - anon (07/08/2013) [-]
>implying Hitlers ideals were the right ones
User avatar #100 to #32 - tigersstripes (07/08/2013) [-]
As anon said, he was smart and probably would have won. He was killing people he thought deserved to die, in a (reasonably good) attempt to cleans the species and make a better world. The objective was good (at first) he just went about it an immoral way. He also went a little far with the 'I will be god' thing....
#35 to #17 - anon (07/08/2013) [-]
I actually hated Light right in the start. I thought the kid was full of himself and, as soon as he gets the death note, he proves that he is even more full of himself than I think by assassinating people, thinking that he has the right to judge (I don't defend serial killers, but sometimes you have no idea what happened before a murder or the causes leading to it). There are a ******* of opinions and ways to judge someone (if you're in places like FJ for a long time, you know that better than anyone), we all have different perspectives and Light was casting his in the world thinking that he was a god. Soon, the whole world started to fear him, and living in fear does not suit humans.
L was the true justice.
I cried so much when he passed away, Near and Mello weren't the same. Though I liked Mello a little more.
User avatar #129 to #35 - witislimited (07/09/2013) [-]
>"L was the true justice."
>Headline: Kira killed
>Crime skyrockets to normal levels
>Innocent people are killed/raped/kidnapped/robbed of all belongings
>"L was the true justice."

Light has gotten mentally ****** up, but at least he was saving people. The scum he'd have killed wouldn't have gone off to make someone's life a living hell. The actions of every idealistic ******** who think "Kira should die because killing is bad" are now responsible for the crimes Kira could've stopped because their actions directly affect the livelihoods of people who wouldn't have been wrong by the scum Light killed. Now tell me, who is more just, the idealistic, politically correct **** who believes rapists, murderers, and hundred-thousand $ scale thieves should be in jail wasting taxpayer money (something that doesn't effectively repel criminals) OR the power crazy mad man who feels that killing those who take away lives and livelihoods is more or less the essence of "an eye for an eye"? Still disagree? Then ask yourself: who causes more suffering through their actions?

Light isn't the type of person I would want to know, but he is the type I love in shows. He was cool, logical, and emotionless (by the end he was anyway). He was like that super-cool secret agent and I just appreciate that kind of character every once in a while.
L was great and weird and I connected with him in a strange way and that was great on a whole different level.

I really like how he's so into it. I'd love to be that immersed in a game.
User avatar #72 to #25 - yamiyo (07/08/2013) [-]
It's crazy to think just how many times he had to play through it to get the timing and motions down
User avatar #88 to #72 - frankieforward (07/08/2013) [-]
there is pedal for when you go up or crouch behind a barrier but I'm sure he played through it a lot nevertheless
User avatar #89 to #88 - yamiyo (07/08/2013) [-]
Oh I see. I've never even seen that game before, but the pedal would definitely make it cooler than the average rail shooter. Thanks for the info!
User avatar #90 to #89 - frankieforward (07/08/2013) [-]
wait you're telling me you've never played a shooter with a pedal?
User avatar #119 to #90 - yamiyo (07/08/2013) [-]
I've very rarely played shooters to begin with and even at the arcades I've been too, I don't recall any with a pedal, no.

Why would you cry after L's death? I mean, he was cool and all, but I really supported Light in the anime. I did laugh my ass off when Light died though...
#79 to #74 - Ihazfunkitty (07/08/2013) [-]
i guess i liked both of them equally and liked it when they interacted with each other. also after L died, i hated the everything after it. i hated N, hated the ending and hated how lame it became.
User avatar #80 to #79 - vexaton ONLINE (07/08/2013) [-]
The ending in the Anime is very different from the manga... In the manga, he just dies on the spot lol, and also, I liked Mihael, but Near was just a little piece of **** .
User avatar #81 to #80 - Ihazfunkitty (07/08/2013) [-]
yeah, ive heared of the manga and the ending where Light won, which sounded pretty cool to me.
User avatar #82 to #81 - vexaton ONLINE (07/08/2013) [-]
Yeah that is actually cool. I also read The L.A.B.B Murder Cases, but I never finished L change the WorLd... I've watched the Live action movies too, and they show a pretty decent adaptation of the story too.
User avatar #112 to #74 - spikethepony (07/08/2013) [-]
Light was a dick who thought killing people by the hundreds if not thousands would create a fear-based utopia. Not sure if you'd noticed, but fear based utopias historically don't work. In fact, a utopia cannot extend itself and its principles over more than two or three countries at most due to the differences in culture.
User avatar #115 to #112 - vexaton ONLINE (07/08/2013) [-]
Well, did you notice that many people in that world supported him for his actions? And that the only ones who died were harsh criminals? Of course, he got a bit power hungry towards the end, but his initial concept was actually not that bad. I supported him because he was a better character than L too, in my opinion of course, not so much his view on the world.
User avatar #117 to #115 - spikethepony (07/08/2013) [-]
I suppose you are right in that aspect. However, one could see Light's hunger for power coming a long way off. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Death Note is clearly the most absolute power one could have, and so corrupts the most absolutely. Nevertheless, the concept is decent enough. A decent work-around for the corruption and power hunger would be passing the Death Note off to a group that designates people who are good enough people to use it for a time without abusing the power. The selecting group should also be switched out regularly.
User avatar #118 to #117 - vexaton ONLINE (07/08/2013) [-]
And to make the Death Note properly used; don't give it to the U.S... I see what you mean, but I don't think the anime, or manga for that matter, would've been as good if it weren't for the fact that Light got power-hungry. It would just be one of those neverending animes like Naruto or Fairy Tail, which I am not fond of
User avatar #126 to #118 - spikethepony (07/08/2013) [-]
