Angel Beats is weak as **** especially for someone who's just started watching anime
Go watch Cowboy Bebop and thank me later.

SPOILER, even though that should be obvious cause angel beats thread
The thing that I really wasn't sure about the ending was
how kanade said she had his heart was how was she at
the school before otonashi despite him having to die first
her to get his heart.

I had actually put some thought into it today and used some Doctor Logic. Basically what that chart says up there. I'd assume that the "limbo space" exists outside of relative time and reality, so even though she died after him she was able to appear there before him. My guess is that it would be reasonable to say fate plays a part in the story too.

Ah ok, sounds about right. I agree with what you said further above as well, I never really got any feelings out of Angel Beats. There wasn't enough time to really connect with the characters.

The only part that had given me a "That kind of sucks" moment was him regaining his memories. But I didn't tear up like I have in others. Hell, the ending didn't even do anything for me.

This is what got me, but like tyrion lannister I have a soft spot for cripples and broken things.

True, her story was touching. Mainly because she was such an upbeat random person the whole show that you would never imagine her being the way she was.

its the only reason the show got to a four in my book. if that story wasnt there i would have wasted about six hours of my life.

It was a good one to watch for some random action and comedy, but I have watched ones that I like a lot more. Maybe if they remade it with a longer season, or at least more than one season, and expanded the story a bit; then I would probably put it up there in my favorites.

Obligatory mention that I don't like Angel Beats.
I think they just passed on. Reincarnation 'n ****. Actually when I think about it it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Dude. Spoiler-flag your posts, c'mon man. Chances are not everyone here has finished it.
More SPOILERS below.

The way I saw it was that it's like reincarnation. They're each born into a new life, a new person, a new existence. They just happened to look similar to how they did before so that we as the viewer can know it's the same person. It's also presumably without any memory of their previous lives. So at the end, Kanade is just humming Iwasawa's song without knowing why she's humming it, or why she even knows that song. Otonashi recognizes the song from somewhere deep inside him, and that's a connection.

I think they are born into a new life, but the same situation, so that they can try again now they know how to deal with it. Like the girl in the Other World gave Tomoya a second chance in Clannad.
