The anime hasn't been dark or creepy at all, which is why this was so shocking.

Didn't say it wasn't but it was still a ****** up anime. And you can't tell me that ending was a satisfying one. Wouldn't shock me if Rebellion was only created because of that piece of **** ending.

It was way too short to be considered ****** up, at least for me. Mami's death in particular didn't have much lasting effect because she lacked any sort of real character development and was killed off much too quickly. Everything else aside from Rebellion, which I have yet to watch so I will not comment on seemed much too quick, especially the last episode. The show could have really benefited from a season that wasn't just 12 episodes long.

This, I agree with you. Everything felt really rushed for 12 episodes. And that's were I kinda hate this anime, it was always doom and gloom. Never a break to collect your feelings,.But Mami's death was by far the 2nd (probably now 3rd) most horrific death scene for an anime female that I have witnessed. (I commend the artist for making it as gory as possible without using any blood or guts. ) I'm just not comfortable seeing a female character getting killed in such a fashion, just wired that way i guess. Rebellion is pretty good and kinda tones down on the darkness.
But the anime did actually accomplish a few things for me, as in making feel for the characters (even if it were a short one) and it actually got my blood pumping during certain scenes. But ultimately, I kinda stumbled into this show and after episode 3 I couldn't stop. I hat to see it all the way through. I'm just not comfortable with this genre, so when I see something like this I just say, "nononono, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I am not going through this again."
So if you liked the anime good for you. You'll probably see Rebellion as an icing on top of an already delicious (horrifically, terrifying, psychologically disturbing) cake.
Pic related because this thread needs to be a little more dandy.

With the way her body twitches, you know that part of her nervous system and brain are still alive, intact, and functioning... but who knows what horrors she is experiencing.
