That is quite spoiler-ish for those who haven't played the game.
I'm alright though.
Also, **** Junko for killing Mukuro TWICE.

i believe it's a steven king novel with a movie adaptation.

I like to think that the blonde boy is Togami's and Fukawa's child and that Fukawa saw blood during childbirth, turned into Genocider Shou and commited suicide for some reason I haven't fan fictioned yet.

User avatar #17 to #7 - kakariko (09/08/2013) [-]
This happens at the Ikusaba Mukuro Second Class Trial, read under your own risk:
This is a "WHAT IF ending" that happens if Naegi decides to expose Kirigiri's lie. She dies, they don't get out of the coliseum and end up banging the same girl.

This is the "ending" Hagakure talks about previously in one of his premonitions, when he says "our children will have the same mom".
However, he realizes that it isn't true, it was just a dream... or rather, a nightmare. He soon wakes up and makes the right decision.

Big ******* meh. This better not become a thing here, because SAO became a thing.

SAO was in no terms good, but you're literally only hating it because other people are hating it. There are better animes, yes, but there are many that are much worse.
User avatar #47 to #45 - blackrookfiend (09/08/2013) [-]
I'm only hating on it because everyone else is hating on it? Quite the opposite. I have a lot of legitimate reasons not to like this anime. First up, the characters. Upon Asuna's re-entry into the anime, I was disappointed to find that she had been reduced to nothing but a generic tsundere. Not to mention the rest of the cast is pretty damn one dimensional, speaking nothing of the wish fulfillment character they had in the main character's position. Next up, the relationships. Asuna and Kirito's relationship was painfully forced and they didn't have any real chemistry, which made watching their relationship grating.

Mind you, the visuals are amazing. Like, bloody amazing. But this element would have been so much more pronounced if the anime didn't take it's plot and characters so damn seriously.
User avatar #50 to #47 - deescalation ONLINE (09/08/2013) [-]
*I'll just respond to you on this post instead of my old one. Asuna was always a semi-tsundere character, and I was fine with that. During the second arc however, she reduced to the lowest of low "plot devices" and I absolutely hated that about the show. If she were simply stuck in the new game, I would have been fine with it, but to see one of the main characters practically tentacle raped made me lose a LOT of respect in the show. As for the rest of the relatively one dimensional characters, I felt it helped build the story around Sword Art Online as an MMO more than a traditional character archetype. I've been playing MMOs for many years, and it's very common to group up with one or more players to do something, even if it's it's just for a short amount of time. I felt that Kirito interacting with these characters for just an episode at a time was fairly acurate of a typical MMO experience, and I thought that that helped the setting as a whole. I do agree that Kirito is a wish fulfillment character, but again, if we look at it as an MMO based anime, that is what a lot of players try to achieve, myself included. In regards to the relationship, I will again partially agree with you. It was obvious that a relationship was going to develop between them, but it didn't feel that forced to me (although the segment where they moved into the woods was a bit painful to watch). I feel this anime was more geared towards the hardcore MMO fans (all my MMO friends who have watched it love it) and we are probably more willing to look over some of the shows faults because of that.
User avatar #51 to #50 - deescalation ONLINE (09/08/2013) [-]
Another point I would like to bring up that a lot of people who dislike mention is the time skips. I fell that this is a complaint that wouldn't be made by an MMO player, because we know that a lot of time put into an MMO is grinding out very similar quests and grinding in general, which wouldn't make for very good tv. I wouldn't expect anyone to watch me speed level a character on WoW, so why would I want to watch it in anime form? All in all, I can see where you are coming from in your complaints to the show, and I am fairly biased in it's defense (hence the profile icon) but I think that it did a fine job being the anime that it was. We still have Log Horizon coming out soon, which is another "stuck in an MMO: anime that we can compare this to as well, but for now, I have to say that this is a fairly solid show. Except the second arc, that sucked soooo many ballsacks.
User avatar #52 to #51 - blackrookfiend (09/08/2013) [-]
I can see a lot of legitimate reasons for why someone would like this anime, I really do, and I respect that you enjoyed this anime.

You're right in saying that the first arc was superior to the second by a mile, that I can most certainly agree with you on.

But what I have found is that people were claiming SAO was something of a genuine master-piece, or heck, even just thought it was a game-changer when in fact, it isn't quite. While a decent anime, I feel that Sword Art Online gets too much praise from people who don't really want to acknowledge it's flaws, which is probably what caused me to grow so resentful about it. Perhaps then I must apologize, as this resentful attitude may certainly have led me to treat the series far too harshly.

I can respect a fan that supplies legitimate reasoning as to why they like the anime without saying something crass and pointless that proves nothing other than their inability to have a debate.
User avatar #53 to #52 - deescalation ONLINE (09/08/2013) [-]
I think what really made a lot of people say that it was a great show, and able to ignore all of its faults, is that it's the first show since .//hack (which I think aired in the 90s) to appeal to an MMO / gamer demographic, so you had a lot of people who might not even be interested in anime in general watching this show.

I'm glad this was resolved civilly and didn't resolve into another anime hate fest
User avatar #37 to #35 - deescalation ONLINE (09/08/2013) [-]
I rather enjoyed the first arc of SAO. I feel people try to dig into it too much instead of enjoying it for what it is. If people analyzed Gurren Lagann like they do SAO, it would rank much lower in public opinion. I'd thumb you down, but there was this red eagle flashy thing coming out of your picture and now I don't want
User avatar #48 to #37 - blackrookfiend (09/08/2013) [-]
As I have said in another reply, SAO takes itself way too damn seriously.

Gurren Lagann gets the praise it does because it's almost semi-aware of how genuinely silly the plot and it's elements are, and focuses on the visuals as well.
The plot itself is placed second to the characters and the action, and this works because Gurren Lagann had a ******** of really awesome characters, even having one of the most iconic characters in anime to date.

SAO did not have iconic characters. It had the same character formula we've seen a ton of times before, so how is that anything special?

User avatar #46 to #44 - silvachief (09/08/2013) [-]
It's from a game/anime called Dangan Ronpa where some students are locked in their high school and told they're only allowed out if they kill someone without the others realizing it was them.
There's a lot of a talk about how they would never do such a thing but, perhaps inevitably, they do it anyway.
