Thumb me down into oblivion, but I'll still never understand why people like Hinata so much. She is a really shallow character IMO. I also find it kind of odd how so many people will call Sakura useless, and then go on to say Hinata is their favorite female character.

Glorious Itachi master race! The best Akatsuki of them all.

Hinata stood down Pain to save Naruto, she was willing to die for him, and she never hesitates to save him again. Her shyness does not translate on the battlefield, where she is just as powerful, maybe more so, then Neji.
Sakura on the other hand is so obsessed with getting Sasuke back the she is completely blinded to the fact that she is surrounded by friends who want to help her. Even if she is very powerful now, she is still such a shallow character.

It's really because she's the only female that i don't find atrociously annoying.

Becuase at least Hinata doesn't go out of her way to do stupid things and then make other people save her. (like when sakura was like "no! i have to be the one to kill sasuke!" even though she literally would have no chance, and even then she ended up being like "BOO HOO i love him too much even though hes evil, save me naruto and kakashiiiii!!"
User avatar #41 to #38 - trollmetoday (01/30/2014) [-]
While I see what you're trying to say, we have to remember that Hinata did nearly the same thing with Pein. I'm not even saying that she was wrong to intervene, just like I don't think Sakura was entirely wrong in her actions either. I think a lot of people overlook how powerful Kishimoto makes love and friendship in the series.
#66 to #41 - adu (01/30/2014) [-]
Those are completely different things. Sakura basically was enough of a ******* to weaken and delay her allies just so she could go on a suicide mission that basically accomplished nothing. (Seriously, Anbu as already on his ass and couldn't touch him, what did she think she could accomplish by herself?) And why? Because she felt some sort of delusional emotional obligation, like she was the only one who cared about Sasuke. What a ******* cunt.

MEANWHILE, later in the series, Naruto is fighting to defend the ENTIRE leaf village, and Sakura is just far away being useless, and Naruto gets pinned to the ground. There was NOTHING he could do with his own strength. Then Hinata stepped in, and rather than attempting to take on Pain by herself, she attempts to FREE Naruto, which was probably the smartest possible course of action. She spills the beans to Naruto, and there's obviously an emotional connection, and she fights to the death with Pain because she has no other options at that point, and would rather fight to the death to protect her love than watch him die. Pain stated that Naruto would have been completely incapacitated, most likely permanently, for the sake of extracting the Kyuubi which would kill him. If he was captured there, it WAS a death sentence. Hinata's sacrifice didn't accomplish much in itself, but it angered Naruto more than anything we've seen before, even more than when Sakura was in danger. 9- ************* , even AFTER he was trapped in the Chibaku Tensei. The closest he ever got to that before was 4-tails with Orochimaru. He clearly cared for Hinata a lot.

Those two events are just the biggest contrasts in their character. Overall, Hinata is sweet, sincere, a courageous, talented fighter, but also timid and adorable. Sakura is an emotionally abusive bitch who berates Naruto EVEN WHEN HE DOES THINGS RIGHT, and is ultimately useless for over 80% of the series. Only time she was useful was at the start of Shippuden.

TL;DR: Your opinion is wrong.

I'm sorry, but no. You're completely wrong. Those are in no way the same thing. Sakura went out of her way to MAKE SURE that no one else went with her or helped her (even going as far as to drug her teamates) just so she could kill sasuke alone.(which in itself is a delusion because there's no way sakura could kill him) What Hinata did was SAVE NARUTOS LIFE. If she didn't intervene when she did, Pein would have surely killed Naruto at that moment. What Sakura did was a selfish act of idiocy that had no real plan, and didn't save or even help anybody. In fact it just made naruto and kakashi have to fight Sasuke again, which they didn't want to do. It's not like Hinata was like "DERP IM GONNA GO FIGHT PEIN ALONE" literally the only reason she jumped in was because she saw from far away with her byakugan that Naruto was about to be killed.

Pain wasn't there to kill Naruto. He was there to capture him.

................................................................................ ..... so that he could drag 9 tails out of him and then he would die? Either way he was going to strike a finishing blow that would mean the death of Naruto so.... good fight....
User avatar #52 to #49 - ShadowsDemon (01/30/2014) [-]
No, to get the Nine Tails he has to bring him to the Gedo Statue or summon it. If he just kills Naruto, then he's ****** . If anything, Nagato would've sedated Naruto (had Hinata not interfered) and retreated to the Gedo Statue hideout to extract the Nine Tails, THEN he would die.

Um yes it was moron. You said "he was there to capture him" and i responded with "so that he could drag 9 tails out of him and then he would die" When i said finishing blow i wasn't talking about wasn't a death blow. He probably would have just mutilated narutos legs or something to incapacitate him so that it would be easy to transport him.
User avatar #61 to #58 - ShadowsDemon (01/30/2014) [-]
Striking a finishing blow is not the same as incapacitation. Finishing blow implies death.
#63 to #61 - nickmandemon (01/30/2014) [-]
Okay so I've heard ufc fighters say "finishing blow" does that mean that those contenders who lost all died. What I said was "he would strike a finishing blow that would MEAN the end of Naruto" Maybe if you paid more attention to detail you wouldn't look so stupid right now.
User avatar #44 to #43 - trollmetoday (01/30/2014) [-]
The thing is, you're obviously looking at both actions from a rather biased standpoint. At least from my perspective, both of them went into fights that they knew they had no chance of winning in order to save the person that they love. Obviously, it's a lot easier to see in Hinata's situation because she is literally attempting to save Naruto. The message can get easily lost due to the fact that Sakura is trying to kill Sasuke but, at least what I got from it, is that she was trying to save Sasuke from himself. The point you bring up about Naruto and Kakashi not wanting to fight Sasuke is very true, which is why Sakura attempted to kill him alone so that she would be the only one with Sasuke's blood on her hands. I can agree that she was being selfish in her actions, and she was definitely way in over her head; but imagine that the person you've loved for your entire life is going around doing all of these things that make them a criminal throughout the entire world, it must be a pretty painful thing to go through.
#45 to #44 - nickmandemon (01/30/2014) [-]
So the solution is to kill him? Did you not read Naruto? The whole point is that you don't need to cause pain and kill people to solve problems. I can't understand why you would defend such a selfish act. Did Sasuke belong to her? Is that her ******* decision to make? Can't you imagine how Naruto and Kakashi would have felt if she killed him? Naruto is literally about trying to save people from themself the right way. How much of an idiot do you have to be to be like "welp i guess the only way is cold blooded murder" It sounds like she didn't even think about it for more than 3 seconds. Thats the easy way out. Because thats the type of character she is. She'd rather take the easy rhode, and just kill him and be done with it than try to get the person she loves back, which is what the much smarter and braver character, Naruto, tries to do. There is no way you can justify her trying to do that. It was 100% selfishness and recklessness. All it would have accomplished is either her dying, or by some miracle sasuke dying, neither of which would be right, or make anyone happy. I don't think I'm the one being biased here bud.
User avatar #50 to #45 - trollmetoday (01/30/2014) [-]
I don't think you're understanding the point I'm trying to make here. I'm not saying what she did was the right thing to do. I was saying that her thought process was the same as what Hinata was thinking when she saved Naruto. But you're still not taking her feelings as a character into the equation. No matter how powerful the characters are, they are all still human. People make hasty decisions when they are under a lot of emotional stress, which was clearly shown. Another thing to look at is the fact that Sasuke is widely regarded as a menace throughout the world, so yes, obviously if by some amazing act of god she managed to kill Sasuke; Naruto and Kakashi would have been devastated, but most of the world would have been relieved about it. Once again, I'm not defending the actions, but I can easily understand the thought process behind them.

P.S. You are actually being really biased
#54 to #50 - nickmandemon (01/30/2014) [-]
So your defending Sakura even though you're admitting that what she did was wrong, but you understand her thought process? And I'm biased? I can understand the thought process of Hitler and Nazi Germany but i wouldn't defend them. The point is that there are smarter and more just ways to go about solving a problem. And Sakura is too terrible and stupid of a character to think of those ways. I'm not saying that Sakura is some demon, bent on making people unhappy. She's not evil, and she definately had good intentions, but she's just an idiot, and her stupidity affects other people negatively. That's why she is a bad character.
User avatar #62 to #54 - trollmetoday (01/30/2014) [-]
I'm not defending her actions though. I'll say it once again so that you understand my viewpoint here. I understand why she did what she did, nothing more, nothing less.

Also, you need to look up the definition of bias. If you come into an argument, and clearly favor one character over another e.g " Sakura is too terrible and stupid of a character to think of those ways" you are biased.
#64 to #62 - nickmandemon (01/30/2014) [-]
Umm ok you came into the argument with "i dont understand why people like hinata so much" so what is your point? Now you're contradicting yourself. And yes, you were definately defending her, you're just sad that you're wrong. You tried to say that what they did was the same thing.
User avatar #65 to #64 - trollmetoday (01/30/2014) [-]
I said they did it for the same reason. Also, I don't dislike Hinata, it's true that I don't get why people like her so much, but that doesn't mean I dislike her as a character. You, on the other hand, clearly hate Sakura as a character. You're argument is beginning to get really childish though, so I'd rather not continue on repeating the same thing over and over again if you don't mind.
#185 to #65 - nickmandemon (01/31/2014) [-]
No I'm sorry, but you keep going back and changing what you said. You did not say "her thought process was the same" you started with "we have to remember that Hinata did nearly the same thing with Pein" You keep changing what you said because you're afraid of looking wrong. Who's really being childish? And, i do know what the word biased means. and yes, i don't like sakura as a character. But, i also did not say anything but cold hard facts. The only opinion i put forward was that she is a bad character. Everything else i said actually happened. Also you said "I also find it kind of odd how so many people will call Sakura useless, and then go on to say Hinata is their favorite female character." which implies that you think that Hinata is useless, which implies you don't like her. So shut the **** up, you immature little cunt. Stop going back and changing what you said when you realize that it was wrong. Stop calling me biased and childish, when i only said facts and you're trying to defend Sakura through like ******* symbolism or something. You sir, are a hypocryte.
User avatar #186 to #185 - trollmetoday (01/31/2014) [-]
What are you, 10 years old? Everything you said was an opinion, that's the point of an argument. I also don't think Sakura OR Hinata are useless characters, the reason I said what I did was due to the fact that Sakura is arguably a stronger character in terms of fighting and medical capabilities. And on a final note, "So shut the **** up, you immature little cunt." is actually the funniest string of connected words I have read in a while, thank you for being too much of an imbecile to insult. Have fun raging at yourself, this is my last comment on this thread.
#188 to #186 - nickmandemon (02/03/2014) [-]
So you're saying that everything in this argument was an opinion because "thats the point of an argument" but i was the only one being biased? And i also love the fact that you didnt even respond to me pointing out that you tried to change what you said. You've lost, and you're still trying to act superior. Cute.
#46 to #45 - nickmandemon (01/30/2014) [-]
And by the way, Hinata did not "attempt" to save Naruto. She did. If she didn't step in when she did, he would have died. Sakura attempted to kill (save...wtf?) sasuke, and failed horribly. I think that just from that you can see why Hinata is better.
User avatar #37 to #32 - mankey (01/30/2014) [-]
It's most likely because she is one of the few submissive female characters in the show. Whereas Sakura, Tamari, Ino etc are all aggressively dominant.
User avatar #56 to #37 - adu (01/30/2014) [-]
There's a difference between "aggressive" and "an emotionally abusive bitch." Sakura rails on Naruto for the majority of the series, even when he does things right, even though she spent most of her times staring from the sidelines dreaming about Sasuke. Her temporary usefulness in Shippuden is not penance for the majority of her uselessness.
User avatar #34 to #32 - kschmidty (01/30/2014) [-]
As long as you don't insult people for liking her I couldn't care less.
