I didn't cry while watching clannad(expect Fuko arc ending), but clannad after story drained every single tear out of me.During the last few episodes, i cried like, twice per episode. I just have a lot of feelings okay?

I only cried once when Okazaki tells Ushio about how Nagisa was... That **** was too much for me.

I actually also recently finished Clannad / After story. On one night watching I made it late watching until Episode 22 (were Tomoya and a sick Ushio go outside to go on a trip). I went to bed after that completely paralyzed and unable to continue. Spend the whole unable to function in anyway, the episode 23 came and I was so relieved.

TL;DR
Clannad is the most feely feel I ever felt

It kinda puts two fingers up at Tomoya's character development, though. He didn't just go on a trip, he went on a journey and learnt how to be no only a parent, but a reliable and selfless person.
He discovers his little girl has grown up without him and become a strong and mature way beyond her years, because she wasn't allowed to have a childhood until Tomoya is ready to face parenthood.

In the end, this all means nothign because he never went through the trauma of loss, and never had to learn to be a good parent.

I understand what you mean but he did realize that what he thought was a dream wasn't a dream at all, it had really happened to him and it made him appreciate everything he now had again even more.

Also the robot's death is one of the most horrific i've ever seen in an anime. And I've seen Hellsing.

At least the ending is happy, which can't be said about alot of other anime.

Just started watching this anime. I cried at the end of the K-on! movie so i will undoubtedly cry a river of sadness at the end of this.

Anything by KEY is gonna mess up your emtions pretty bad. It opened an emotional door for me, and I ended up crying at every anime I watched after; DBZ, Digimon, Shaman King, Yu Yu Hakusho, YuGiOh, Black Butler... **** , dude, I cried at Hetalia (though it was more of a realisation than episode content)

I'm on episode 16 of After Story and am yet to shed a tear. The series is sad to be sure, but the was FJ talks about it I expected to be crying like a baby.

Well if you go into a series not wanting to cry you won't, also you probably have extremely high expectation when you started watching the series, so that can have an effect on it aswell. Or you as a person have a hard time relating to the characters, because it is an anime and not live action. There are a lot of reasons as to why a person wouldn't cry, but those are the most common reasons.

I did cry watching it.
User avatar #9 to #8 - TheCanadianPatriot (04/28/2013) [-]
I get more emotional with anime then live action, don't know why I just do. I also am able to relate to the characters in one way or another. Though your probably right that I expected it to be sadder which probably resulted in the level of sadness to not be enough for me to actually cry.

That being said, I just finished episode 16 and I almost broke at the end, and I saw what happened coming.
User avatar #29 to #9 - Happybean (04/29/2013) [-]
Probably because with live action, you know they are actors. In anime, this is the character's life. A voice actor isn't enough to remind you of the reality that these characters are fictional, thus you immerse yourself more.

Did you watch the first season before watching after story?
User avatar #11 to #10 - TheCanadianPatriot (04/28/2013) [-]
Of course, though I haven't watched the movie yet.
#14 to #11 - weetikveel (04/28/2013) [-]
I didn't watch the movie either, yet I shedded a lot of tears watching clannad and it's definitely among my top 3 anime. But I agree with you that fanbases can ruin alot (like with Death Note). Even though I love Clannad, FJ really needs to stop flooding this.

TL;DR I still hope you're enjoying this and FJ didn't ruin it for you
User avatar #17 to #14 - TheCanadianPatriot (04/28/2013) [-]
It is good, was just expecting sadder. Though it just broke me, I cried on episode 18.
#20 to #17 - weetikveel (04/28/2013) [-]
watching clannad without crying is impossible for everyone. But you should prepare yourself for an even sadder episode... and a pretty confusing ending

I'm not so sure about the last bit of your statement
call me a monster if you want but I didn't cry or feel crushed at the end of Clannad:AS, it made me think about my life for a few hours but it didn't last
and it's mainly because of personality issues

I watched all but the movie, and although I didn't cry, the feels built up over time and by the time the father goes home, I was welling up to critical capacity. The ending didn't tip me over the edge since it was resolved rather quickly (and I saw it coming).

I can still claim to have never cried to an anime, but I'll be damned if I wasn't close.
#33 to #11 - Rascal (04/29/2013) [-]
Its no reason to watch the movie until you have finished both Clannad and Clannad after story since its just a compressed version and alittle bit rewritten

If you watch it late at night, you'll be tired and closer to your emotions, and it will feel damn good to cry it out.
