TIme to shill again for the guild I'm in.

The Norhiem Kinship: A Nordic-Inspired guild, essentially wanting to choose a plot of land out in the wilds, and building from the ground-up. Unlike most other guilds, we start with no set hierarchy, no written laws, we'll sorta flow into whatever feels best.

We currently have more people than some "Kingdoms". Be warned though, we're set at a soft-cap of about 50 players at the very beginning, we've recently got our 50th member from the last post, so if you want to get in by the start, you better make good friends with the guild. Otherwise, we'll accept others later on in the game, so use that as a chance to train up, so you come to us an already-valuable citizen of Norhiem.

Yes, actually.

So far, there are only 2 possible ways. 1. You could become pretty much evil incarnate, that when you die a permadeath, you could become a lich,,I'd imagine this would require something like, sacrificing thousands of babies to a demon lord.

2. Have your soul ripped from your body, and placed in a physical item. So, if you meet a powerful Lich, and offer your service to him, he will do so, and you shall be immune from death. However, you still age, until you're eventually a walking skeleton.

I'd imagine it works one of 2 ways.

1. You die instantly, cause once the soul returns to the soul vault, the body cannot live.

2. Depending on how much you've aged since you've places your soul in an item, you may survive, but if you've lived hundreds of years longer than you should have, you'll crumble into dust.

I'd assume the former, over the latter.

In regards to this whole thing I'm kinda concerned about the world size.

I love a huge world that's ripe for exploration, but if it starts out more or less empty it might deter some people who want to have an established game world. If it's settled and too big, people might never run into each other and the possibility for cool and interesting adventures disappears rapidly. If it's settled but too small, the possibility for exploration and sneaky cunning plots disappears rapidly.

I'm hoping they do something like one large settled continent with a bunch of unsettled but just as large continents for exploration and claiming.

My understanding is, there will be multiple pre-made towns and cities, players select which general area they'd like to start in. If the game senses too many people are choosing one town, it will start to funnel traffic to other towns. So people will meet each other, it'll be distrubuted semi-evenly.

Cool. I know demons were mentioned before, is there any indication as to how that will work? Hell as a separate plane that occasionally invades, or located deep beneath the surface and accessible through tunnels and dangerous caverns?

Keep us posted! That was my favorite part of EQN, the idea of multiple layers to the game world that one could accidentally enter while in a mine or quarry.

Maybe it looks a littel bit stupid when i ask, but why shoulden i play a game where i am a normal human who can die? I mean we play a game becouse our world is boring. So why shoulden i play a game what exactly relfect the worst of this world ? To die

It's so that the story can continue. If you can become a king or a merchant or an adventurer, there's no story if you just live forever doing the same thing over and over again. However, if instead you include "perma-death" of a single character with the continuity of their soul, you add interesting game mechanics. A PC king could reach the end of his life having fathered two sons who, once he's died, declare war on each other to seize the throne, resulting in a huge change in the game world as dukes and counts choose sides.

A planeswalker character could earn a reputation as an expensive resurrection aid, being contracted by guilds or even emperors to help ensure that they can stay alive in the world as long as possible. When they die though, their presence is temporarily lost and as a result the landscape of the world could fundamentally change. Alternatively, given that they've discussed capturing characters which seems to naturally indicate slavery, one could keep a planeswalker permanently captive in order to keep a major figure alive. Upon the planeswalker's death, it could hugely change the landscape of the world as that figure finally dies, leading to a divide in a kingdom or dissolution of a guild.

for the challange.

creating a living and chaning world in a videogame sounds really cool to me so thats a reason for me to look forward for this game.

I'd like to ask that you guys who are interested in the game, to leave a thumbs up, considering youtube videos don't gain as much traction as MP4s, I want more people to be able to see it.
