guys i've finally decided that i'm going to get a playstation 2 for christmas this year.
User avatar #52 to #49 - tombombadil (06/14/2013) [-]
Only downside is that the REALLY good games are hard as **** to find. I've been looking for Dark Cloud 2 for like, a year.

My parents kept making me get rid of my old consoles when the new ones came out. I would still have my N64 if I had a choice.
User avatar #54 to #52 - assdoreponyfucker (06/14/2013) [-]
are they going to make ps4 backward compatible? i heard no, that they might work on it with the cloud, so if you get the release ps4 which may not be back compatible, and they make it so, will you need a new system? inb4 stupid
User avatar #56 to #54 - tombombadil (06/14/2013) [-]
I heard something about "Old software support" and being able to buy games from all the way back to PSone on the PS store.
User avatar #59 to #56 - endofgods (06/14/2013) [-]
they wont make it disc compatible, 3 didnt let u do that
but on my vita at least ive noticed the PSN has been allowing you to purchase a lot of old games online to play like psone titles and such

idk i was kind of being sarcastic with my original comment but i have a lot of ps2 games with a broken ps2 and i'm planning on getting a ps4 since i was a PC guy during the ps3 era so i never got one.

I partially agree with that, but sometimes it's bad luck or traitorous dogs. And you can't really blame players, a lot of them committed suicide or saved others in kamikazee's.
User avatar #75 to #71 - thebannedzombie (06/14/2013) [-]
The "real" deathgame SAO or post-ALO nice happy and friendly SAO? I'm scurrilous which is more appealing to you.

And I am yet again reminded that BakaTsuki hasn't updated the progressive novel for nearly three months. **** .

That's how I feel, but at the same time I'm not sure how well I would truly fair, in game. In theory it sounds fun, in practice I think I might kind of snap/die.

Oh... Sorry. The anime series is based on light novels, each is a few hundred pages. The first book was a standalone short-story that was rather rushed to fit it within the page limit for the publisher he was submitting it to. The first 12 episodes of the anime are taken from that first and tragically short book, with a few filler episodes from side stories he wrote later.

The progressive series is a re-write where instead of saying "two years later we are on this floor and almost free", they progressively storm each floor. The story of Kirito continued long after the anime ended with ALO. But since I always loved the Aincrad arc far more than it's successors, this re-write is just ******* amazing. The only problem being that it is in Japanese, and for whatever reason the translators have abandoned it 3/4 of the way through the first book.

I just discovered this when I went to check up on it and I figured I'd share my misery with the person I'd just asked a question about SAO.

User avatar #87 to #86 - mindsculptorjace (06/14/2013) [-]
Aww...that sucks.

I don't fear the Orwellian future because any attempt to suppress will only bring dissidence, the only way human will, can be extinguished is through pleasure and desire, just look at current times, Humans have a free flood if information yet no one cares, we are awash with endless hours of mind numbing entertainment, through TV, Movies, and video games, funnyjunk is as well a part of that, of course every now and then someone cares and makes something to make you think, to care, however it is lost in the mass of mindless AAA shooters, reality TV about who is the prettiest little girl, and movies whose only message is "violence is fun". Orwell's future isn't coming however we have been silenced by being giving whatever we desire. Look at all the bad in the world, you have the power to alleviate it, at least a little 10 dollars reach far in Africa, yet is some parts of the world it can't even buy a sandwich. Yet you haven't done anything about it, why is that?

tl:dr Orwell's future isn't the dystopian future to fear, we are already living one, yet no one cares.

I can't agree with you there my friend. I don't believe we're there yet. I do believe that we are on the path though, and it's a terrifying thought to me, and a sad truth. I fear for this world, friend, our world.

Here is my view on the kids in Africa. The adults **** when there is barely enough food for themselves, and I will not say "that's ok" by paying their child support. Let the kids die, and maybe they will stop ******* or atleast take an abortion, which you can do yourself with a stick.

But one man will rise to face the tyranny, to fight the DRM and the all seeing eye of the connect. Because he's the hero gamers deserve, but not the one it needs right now, until the xbox one launches. He's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight. And the day we need him, he will emerge from the shadows and say "3, Half life 3 is upon us."

you can't backwards compatible these new gen systems because they are utilizing a different graphical engine not suited to run older disks

And you don't understand how a console works. What's new?
#74 to #62 - anon (06/14/2013) [-]
Ok, let's take this apart, one step at a time. As an FYI and a precursor, I am playing a ps2 game on my tv. Not on hardware connected to the tv. -on the television's own chipset-.

1. "You can't backwards compatible these new gen systems because-"
Yes, you can. It's quite easy, when you have the proprietary software that's used to decode the discs in the first place.
2. "-they are utilizing a different graphical engine not suited to run older disks"
Graphical engines don't run disks. File systems run disks. Peripheral systems run disks. IO systems, in general, run disks. Graphical systems are modules devoted to sending video data to the onboard video card. That is their entire purpose.

TL;DR, **** you eat a dick suck my fem-nuts **********
