Not sure why people are saying theyve had a bunch of broken ps2's. Iv had mine since the day they came out and over used and abused it with 0 problems. Its a champ.

I think those people complain because they've had broken PS2's.

to all those saying this is wrong
both of my ps2's have never had an issue reading dvds they both loaded faster than my dvd player...and i still use it as a dvd player sometimes

Whoever made this probably did not have a ps2. Mine had to be returned twice during the lifetime of the console because it could not read any discs. I remember the 2nd time was when San Andreas came out

I bought three of the old big ones each one got laser problems then we got an xbox and xbox 360 (360 broke once was fixed and given $50 credit and 3month of live for free) and my parents decided since we have so many ps2 games we will buy a new slim ps2 broke within a month stopped reading disks. I still might buy a ps3 havent decided yet since they are cheap now

******** , you get a single scratch on the game/DVD and you get that god damn manual startup screen.
User avatar #27 - cloudstrifeownsall (02/02/2014) [-]
Don't get me wrong, I love the PS2 but I went through about eight of them... I don't know why they kept going out but they did... the only thing that didn't make it such a problem was that they were really easy to fix. I could mix and match parts and basically have a new one in an hour or less depending on which part needed replacing....and it was kind of fun to open it up every now and then and just feel good knowing how to fix things...

******** ! I have three and they suck compared to a 20 year old sony dvd player.

> 20 year old Sony DVD player
They made DVD players in 1994?
User avatar #16 - respectyourmom (02/02/2014) [-]
this post is ******** . It was not the most reliable DVD player, Some DVDs would not play and after a while the PS2 eventually stopped reading any discs all together.

Ever since my brother broke mine I've been sad, I got the slim one thinking hw awesome it would be to watch movies on like the bulky one but they always were black and white for some reason when played on the slim.
User avatar #12 - malacyman (02/02/2014) [-]
I had 2 ps2's from new and both of them stopped playing dvd's after a few uses

My uncle bought 3 PS3s when they came out then used them just for Blu-ray
He doesn't even have the controllers, he sold them.
#6 to #3 - twotwelve (02/02/2014) [-]
how does he watch them without controllers? You still have to press play somehow

He has a remote for them
Literally every console since 2000 has a remote addition at least
How did you not know that existed?
