I'm pretty sure these were Japanese and for WW2, not North Korean.

Apart from that, yeah, it's called propaganda.

Probably the only act that I can think of that would warrant a picture anything like these would be U.S. troops pulling gold teeth out of the mouths of dead Jap's. But they were already dead, and I don't think that anything the marines or army allegedly did to the japs would have been anything compared to what the japs would have done to any captured U.S. troops. However, history is written by the victor, so I can't say this without absolute certainty.
