I'd make a frame out of tying yarn or something flexible and glue the straw onto it.

Name one genius, either real or fictional, that wasn't an idiot in something that isn't what they're known for.

"There's an old saying my late grandma taught me. When you're ten, they call you a prodigy. When you're fifteen, they call you a genius. Once you hit twenty, you're just an ordinary person." β€” Haruka Nanase, Free!

Nearly every high achieving athlete that didn't use performance enhacing drugs or just hasn't been caught, I haven't watched the Death Note series (only the movies) and I don't know how long it took before he was caught but Lance Armstrong lasted for seven years, give or take one or two.

Usain Bolt, Ian Thorpe, Michael Phelps, Mohammed Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Diego Maradona, Pele, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Babe Ruth just to name a few.

Probably should have specified what type of genius.

What about Medaka?
User avatar #787538 to #787536 - nomora (10/01/2013) [-]
She was too stupid to realize that not everyone is as good as her.
User avatar #787539 to #787538 - yeorgh ONLINE (10/01/2013) [-]
She did realize it, she noticed when she beat Zenkichi's ass after the clock tower arc.
User avatar #787542 to #787539 - nomora (10/01/2013) [-]
And that took how many volumes again?

She also couldn't deal with animals properly, or show restraint with her strength.
User avatar #787544 to #787542 - yeorgh ONLINE (10/01/2013) [-]
But she noticed eventually.

The animal thing wasn't her fault, it was the animals who were instinctively scared of her and she did show restraint otherwise she would had killed Zenkichi easy but instead she only roughed him up enough.
User avatar #787551 to #787544 - nomora (10/01/2013) [-]
She also had issues with socializing properly. They may as well have diagnosed her with Asperger's at some point because she pretty fits all the requirements for it.
User avatar #787553 to #787551 - yeorgh ONLINE (10/01/2013) [-]
How so?
User avatar #787555 to #787553 - nomora (10/01/2013) [-]
Also, people with Asperger's can tell when someone else has it as well, be they real or fake.
User avatar #787554 to #787553 - nomora (10/01/2013) [-]
Above average at whatever she does, but lacks the ability to deal with people in a socially acceptable way.
User avatar #787546 to #787544 - nomora (10/01/2013) [-]
Except she had the stupidest ideas for dealing with them as well.
She nearly killed a ton of people throughout the series too, instead of simply knocking them out for a few hours.
User avatar #787550 to #787546 - yeorgh ONLINE (10/01/2013) [-]
She was trying anything, no matter how stupid because she had no other ideas.

Nah, she kept hitting them until she stopped attacking her, the only time where she didn't show any restraint was against Kumagawa when they were younger and Unzen, after that she stopped every time, well and Zenkichi, hell she didn't even attack the chick who stabbed Zenkichi in the Jet Black arc when even Naze was about

Mate, you're taking this way too deep and bringing up subjects no one was even talking about just to try and make yourself look intellectual. I've known you for all of the 45 minutes I've spent here discussing AoT and in that time I've seen you try and fail at this concept multiple times. A biscuit for your efforts, but you need a different hobby. Or at least a different playground to practice it.

He was an idiot at properly covering his tracks and avoiding suspicion, as everything he did was uncovered by L, Mello, and Near, except for that he hid the Death Note in his desk. He also drew attention to himself by accessing police files.
User avatar #787529 to #787522 - reginleaf (10/01/2013) [-]
An idiot at properly covering his tracks? I'd have to disagree. He covered his tracks pretty damn well. How many years did it take to catch him?

He really was almost perfect at everything. Then again you should have gone with real life geniuses, since fictional geniuses can be as perfect as the author(etc) wants them to be.
User avatar #787532 to #787529 - nomora (10/01/2013) [-]
He covered his tracks so well that nearly everything he did was figured out by L almost immediately after he did them. And 3 or 4, which is a pretty short time in the world of crime.
And he was in no way perfect.
They can't because authors realize that nobody likes someone that is perfect in every way and that they won't make as much money than if they made someone with flaws.
