This was sent to me from a work colleague

One girl went to a laptop Sales & Service Shop with anger and threw her new laptop on the desk at a Salesman from whom he bought.

She told the salesman that you have cheated me.

I cannot transfer file from my previous Computer to Laptop..

Salesman : Madam, can you please try in front of me.

This is what She did,

1) Right clicked the mouse on the file which she wanted to transfer and selected CUT option.

2) Then She Disconnected the mouse from that Computer.

3) Took that mouse carefully and connected into the Newly Purchased Laptop where she wanted to copy that file.

4) Right clicked the mouse and selected the PASTE option

Sales person was admitted in the hospital after thi

Well... it gets the job done, but it looks kind of boring. Also uses memory stick duo
User avatar #21 to #10 - dunderbiffen (03/12/2014) [-]
Its also seems very easy. You only need to combine mouse and a memory card. And It also needs to be big enough to copy large files.
User avatar #23 to #21 - kinginthenorth (03/12/2014) [-]
It's mostly rendered useless by online storage, but those require internet connections.
Hell, it should even work wirelessly, albeit slower then.
The only issue i see arising is the way to identify it as both an input device and as a memory storage.
User avatar #25 to #23 - dunderbiffen (03/12/2014) [-]
Hmm. Wireless mouse might be a solution, just plug in recievers on both computers and maybe could transfer files simply by dragging them like you would from one monitor to another.

But then again you could just connect both computers via bluetooth and send files that way?
User avatar #26 to #25 - kinginthenorth (03/12/2014) [-]
yeah, but connecting on bluetooth doesn't look cool enough
User avatar #28 to #26 - dunderbiffen (03/12/2014) [-]

not all computers have this newfangled bluetooth crud.
i mean the new ones do but there are older computers.
if someone is upgrading their computer its more likely than not that the old one wouldnt have it.
#150 to #75 - Rascal (03/12/2014) [-]
If the mouse contained a small two port usb hub on the board, then it could run the memory card and the mouse at the same time. You'd need to deal with the way that the computer recognises the different devices, maybe give the drive a label like MOUSEDRIVE, and have something in the dropdown meus which allows you to send to the mouse. A dll file and some registry work would do it. Windows would never allow the two things to be listed as one device, so that might be confusing for noobs.
User avatar #86 to #10 - tffan (03/12/2014) [-]
The idea is already in use. The Logitech G600 mouse can store macro presets internally and can be used as a medium to transfer presets from computer to computer.
#92 to #86 - kinginthenorth (03/12/2014) [-]
Yeah, but that doesn't work on the same level as transferring complete files instead of just macros and presets
We need it like an USB

Honeypots set up by producing agencies. IDK if it's even legal, it's been called into question. If you do every get caught, you can likely argue against the means they used to acquire your identity.

Depends on the country I think. I heard in some places fines for piracy are often. In my country, there were only 2 or 3 fines in like 20 years, and everyone pirates at least a few terabytes in their life.

Some providers (Charter, Road Runner, etc.) will track your IP address and will send you a small postcard in the mail relaying the "copyright" laws for you. I believe it comes from using uTorrent and/or Pirate Bay.
User avatar #48 to #7 - Deeticky (03/12/2014) [-]
In the U.S. it generally works like this:

Let's say I wanted to pirate the second season of Game of Thrones. I use my Torrent client to download the show from a website such as the Pirate Bay. Because of the way P2P sharing works, I'm also uploading data as I download (Seeding). HBO, the copyright holders of Game of Thrones, decide they want to pwn some pirate noobs, so they go on to the Pirate Bay, and they begin tracking the IP addresses of the people seeding the torrent of their show. They put these IP adresses onto a list and contact the cable service providers of each person with some legal threats. The cable service provider then forwards the the threats to the infringing customers and I would receive a nice little threatening letter.

That's the gist of it. If I were to infringe multiple times and with a whole lot of data, those threats might actually become real legal trouble for me.

I guess that only downloading music is safe. But using torrent where you not only down- but also upload is not safe because you distribute the files to other clients. I must say that this is the situation in Germany and I don't know how it is in other contries, but here people get sued only for spreading copyrighted files.

my grandmother would rather pay $140 for a new screen to be installed on her laptop from some scumbag technician in town, on the theory that if I buy one off of amazon or ebay it would never show up.

Also the other day she was complaining about how I'm rude for not installing "some internet" on her flash drive to share with her sister and that she'd do it her self because she knew I just didn't want to do it for her. I went through the folder and all she did was copy the desktop icon for internet explorer and tossed it in there.

Usually my mom is a decently smart, level-headed person. however, put a computer in front of her and she goes full retard in 2.4sec. Installs every single toolbar she sees, falls for every popup and scam that blinks across the screen and blindly mashes Next and Continue when installing bloatware. She can figure out how to download and install 15 different internet radio toolbars but still searches google for google so she can google facebook. I have tried so many times to sit down with her and explain computers as best I could but I can see the information dripping out her other ear as I speak. They demand I fix every virus they download. It gets to the point where I need to install a new copy of windows almost monthly.
