Here goes guys....

I've been overweight for a long time, I would since 6 years old, a little over 15 years.
Throughout my life, i've tried really hard to lose weight and stay in shape, partially just for health's sake, but mostly so I didn't send the girls running.-___-;;

Coupled with that, my confidence level with women and most other things had been at an all time low over the years as well.

I ended up gaining alot of the weight due to my natural laziness and my addiction to soda, i've tried to limit myself but ended up failing every single time.

My folks insist that I go and meet some nice girls at church, but i'm not a very spiritual person, hence why I wouldn't go there. At the same time I don't want to resort to trying to meet women at bars, i've heard way too many horror stories about it.

To be honest, i'd like to meet a nice girl who shares some of my same interests..., someone who I could maybe settledown with, you know? But I haven't dated in 2 1/2 years...., so i'd look like I fat idiot, right off the bat.

Taking everything into account, I just can't see any of this happening for me, i've been in college for 2 years now, and already have my associates in visual communications and i'm about ready to back for another associates and get my IT certification, however, despite trying to get my shit together, job wise....

What can I do? I don't know how to proceed from here....

If you're still overweight, you weren't trying.
You lack confidence because you can't push yourself to try.
If you've met no one in your time in college, you're not going to have a better shot at church.
Go to the bars. You'd be surprised what you can find. Yeah, there's the horror stories, but there's also the success stories.

Well it's similar to engineering school for me, Technical schools aren't exactly girl magnets either.;;

I guess so...., but I live in a really small town so...., finding women is difficult, period.

Get some sort of motivation. I only recently started working out, and was in a similar position to you, only super skinny not overweight. So I get some dumbells for christmas, but specific motivation, just wanting to get fit/attracting girls etc. So I get this girlfriend, and hey presto, motivation. We broke up nearly two months ago, and then I get more motivation, to get her back. I discover she cheated on me, motivation gone. Now I like another girl, a fuckong lot, so there's my motivation. I've got bigger arms, stronger and fitter, sixpack coming along nicely, and girl comment on my appearance every now and again. (Positivley). So that's the advice. find something specific.

You bet.

On a side note, I was curious on this one, since i'd rather work on dropping the weight first before gaining the muscle.

Would it be good for me to work on sit ups first to try and tone my stomach, or to just go straight cardio?
User avatar #21435 to #21432 - bollocksonabus (08/20/2012) [-]
Well that depends, how much weight are we talking? Like a six chins muffintop kind of thing, or just some folds when satdown? Or whereabouts inbetween?

Well i'm definitely overweight, no doubt about that.

Surprisingly no extra chins, however i've gots folds.;;

To give you a general idea, i'm 274 lbs. (about 124 kg)
And my Body fat percentage is 34%

Ah, well if I was you I'd start on cardio mainly, but do bodybuilding as well. It shouldn't be as hard for you to gain muscle, because you wouldn't need to intake as many calories. That said, your focus should be weight loss, not muscle gain. Don't bother with protien shakes or supplements, as they are for gain. Go running or treadmill. Set yourself goal and see it through, even if at the end you are dead, so don't be too ambitious. Still work out your whole body, but keep your focus on cardio

Slowly build up. Go at quite a slow pace for say five minuites, then have a minuite rest, and repeat three times. Do this for about a week and then bump up the speed, same again with the time. Build up gradually and as long as you don't pig out after the session then you will be getting fitter, but probably wont notice until later. For instance, i never used to be able to do a push up or chin up. I don't feel any stronger, but now I can do lots. You won't feel any different, exept maybe higher confidence, but you will notice results if you stick with it
