Pixar's been disappointing me a lot lately. They haven't put out anything amazing to me since Toy Story 3.
User avatar #107 to #49 - zombiebacon ONLINE (01/13/2014) [-]
This wasn't Pixar. Tangled and Frozen are solely Disney movies.

I know, but I think the past few Pixar movies have been sub par. They were really on a roll with Up, Wall-E, and Ratatouille. Brave and Monster's University just didn't have the Pixar feel to them in my opinion. I honestly think Disney has been making better movies than Pixar has lately
User avatar #149 to #108 - elcreepo ONLINE (01/13/2014) [-]
I agree, but then again, disney is kind of in the process of exploring new ideas when it comes to the princess type

Whereas pixar is basically trying its hardest to dish out basic children's movies. Which is not easy to do after awhile because sooner or later it becomes all the same thing.

Pixar's just having a dead moment, disney had one before it came out with brave.

Why do i seem to be the only one who doesn't like it? I love animation and yet this just seemed above average at best. The animation was cool, i found most of the songs to be pretty bad when compared to other didney songs, it's never explained why Elsa can't tell Anna about her powers ( SPOILER finding out about it half way through the movie didn't matter much to Anna), Hans is supposed to be intelligent and all and yet he lets the queen live even though he could have instantly won if he just killed her while she was focused on pushing a guy off the balcony
(nobody would blame him and she was the only thing standing between him and the throne anyway, he would also be a hero in the eyes of the people), the act of true love is not done by the guy she fell in love with but by her sister (i don't think sibling love is the true love of fairy tales which leads me to believe: ElsaxAnna incest which i support wholeheartedly.) I did like Olaf and the Rapunzel cameo though.

I hope you're excluding Let it Go in that "most of the songs were pretty bad" statement, because Let it Go was the best song in any disney movie, ever.
User avatar #77 to #56 - kogmawsummoned (01/13/2014) [-]
Yeah most of the songs are bad but i really liked that one. It made me feel we might just see an awesome snow/ice queen although i was expecting more than we got.
It's definitely not a bad movie but i've seen much better from didney.
#31 to #23 - quackyquack (01/13/2014) [-]
I agree - I kinda hated the movie.

Compared to Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph - it solidly undershot them both. The development of each character is so awkwardly paced and the manner with which the main character speaks becomes annoying very quickly.

Biddies though - so that is a plus..

i would say it worth watching.
the reason why i like it so much its because its not a typical fairytale story. the characters often question things and are pretty sassy from time to time. also it doesnt end like the way you would think.
there are some unexplained things and i dont like the songs that much but overall its a great movie, very nice animation, likable characters and very beautiful.
9/10 would watch again

Tangled or Frozen?
Which is better?
User avatar #45 to #26 - tombobbusama (01/13/2014) [-]
Frozen felt kinda like they were trying too hard. That scene where Anna is pretending to dance about the house singing about the guy she's gonna meet and stuffing her face with chocolate. They're basically shouting "HEY LOOK THIS CHARACTER IS GOOFY LIKE YOU SO YOU SHOULD LOVE THEM NOW!". And I felt like there were too many songs. But overall, it was a great film. Definitely in my top 2 Disney films.

Tangled, however, felt a whole lot better than frozen. It just... worked. Disney just went back to its fairy-tale roots with style and did it well. But they didnt just do it like "oh pretty princess woo!", they put action and stuff and made it fun for everyone. Though the whole (spoiler) "Oh look, that painting kinda looks like this flag I found, and I kinda maybe remember some people at a cot. Obviously, I must be this "lost princess" that I heard a five year old talk about for three seconds. Welp, time to throw my life away on that bet!" was a bit ******** .

User avatar #66 to #26 - Hreidmar (01/13/2014) [-]
I much preferred Tangled. If only because the musical numbers in Tangled were all in place and very good, whereas in Frozen, only two REALLY stood out to me, and one of them felt shoe-horned in for no reason (the Fixer-upper song, while not a bad song, just felt incredibly forced. Let It Go and the Ice song [intro] were great though.)

I have an unmanly appreciation for Tangled, I have to admit.
User avatar #61 to #26 - mcstorms (01/13/2014) [-]
Bar none Frozen , everything was just better the animations were breathtaking and three years shouldn't make that big a difference. Second all the characters are just more lovable/ believable in frozen with the exception of Flynn or Flint whatever his name was. the hole movie was so damn cliche that hurts, hurdurr Disney movie where the bad guy is the mother. Yeah because we have never seen that before.

where as in Frozen going into spoilers for those who didn't watch it.
Frozen had a whole new level of dynamic for a Disney movie. Elsa had to shut herself out of her sisters life because she loved her so much. Anna was so desperate for love that she flung herself at hans. Oh god Hans that asshole. IMO one of the best Disney villains ever created. like right next to maleficent singing a love song with her ya prick. Anyway then there was the whole act of true love thing which yes is a cliche, but the way they executed it as an act of love between sisters was original as hell. Also the music score was phenomenal. Where as I dont even remember a single word from a single tangled song.

I could go on but you get the idea. Tangled was just alright IMO and doesn't deserve the hype it gets.
