And now ere comes the hardest part of the game: finding a good balance between quality and performance so that it looks good and performs well.

Yeah, I can run it on Ultra, too, but it gets laggy in some places and I prefer to have it not lag at all while looking its best. I think I should get game booster..

hehe, that's okay, I'm happy with the performance of this one. Some day I might snatch a more powerful CPU but for now, I'm sticking with this

Eh, I'd like to upgrade, but I'd need to replace my motherboard and CPU cooler and RAM, so that's not really an option. I can't push my CPU past 4 GHz and even 4 gets unstable sometimes

I don't think even Intel has anything more than i7, so chill out. Only thing you may upgrade is on RAM, but 3,4 GB is enough, let alone 8 and 16

Nah, you don't get it.

My i7 is a 950. Bloomfield. Not even sandybridge or ivybridge or whatever the new ones are.

And as a 3D modeller, I need more than 3-4 GB of RAM, but the reason I would need to replace the motherboard and RAM is because if I get a new CPU I need a new socket, which means new RAM for the new mobo.

Oh, didn't know you were a modeller, and I know how the motherboard thing works, with the sockets and all, but if you really are willing to replace your CPU and/or RAM, you might wanna look at a few catalogs for new PCs. It's a hella lot cheaper than buying the parts one by one, and you can get a more powerful beast, which will be cheaper "by the pound" .

But then again, if you have the money, why not?

Nah, it's not cheaper to buy a new PC as a whole. I don't need a new power supply (it's got a 7 year warranty and is a 1200w 80+ Gold PSU), I don't need a new GPU anytime soon (It's a GTX 680), my HDDs and SSD are still working perfectly fine, and I have two external HDDs for storage (also useful for when I need to bring projects around).

It's much cheaper to just buy the parts and change it myself.

I said "by the pound"

As in: all the parts that you get when you buy a PC would cost a lot more if you bought them individually. But yeah, necessity is a big factor here

No, they don't, actually.

Buying a prebuilt is ALWAYS more expensive than buying the parts individually. ALWAYS, assuming you're comparing the same parts in each.

Here they do cost more. I spent enough time walking around whatever stores this town has and browsing online catalogs from some others in this country, and ain't no way the prices add up to what you're saying. I mean, I got this laptop from an order in Germany and it costs cheaper than its equivalent here, so I can see how more developed countries may have that. I checked the price for an i7 not too long ago, and it costs at least a third of this laptop. And laptops are more expensive than PCs, mind you. So ya, in other words, enjoy your developed country and take pride in your passport

You can't compare laptops to desktops, at all.

It's like comparing chicken to apples.

You can when they cost at least twice as much and still can't match up to the sturdiness of Desktop PCs

A chicken would cost more than an apple (unless you buy it as a chick), but it has more protein and calories to sate the hunger of the consumer

You can't compare them because laptops are very. very limited in changing the parts.

You can't buy individual laptop parts (other than batteries, ram and HDDs), nor can you swap out things.

With a desktop you can. You can buy every piece on its own and assemble it yourself, or swap out any part.

Yeah, which here is very inefficient to do. Thank God this country only covers about 27 000 square km..

Anyhow, despite the sidetracking....

also depends on the season, sometimes apple prices go sky high, and where you buy them from
