A shepherd from Serbia took care of sheep in a valley for more than 70 years. The country decided to give him a pension because he has been doing this as a volunteer almost all the time. Reporters came to interview him, but he was shy. They asked him to tell them the most interesting story that ever happened to him in his 70 years of work.
"I was twenty. One day I was walking through the woods when I found a little puppy in the leafs, it's eyes still haven't opened yet. I took it with me and after two days I already loved it with all my heart. The people from the village told me that it was a wolf and that I should kill it because it will bring bad luck. I didn't listen to them because it had stole my heart. He grew up to be the smartest animal I have ever seen. If i were to forget something in the village I would send him and he would bring it to me.
One day, I went into my small house in the valley, the pen with sheep was close, a little down the hill.
I was very tired, so I went to sleep and my eyes closed as soon as I hit the bed.
I was awoken by some growling. I opened the front door and all i could see was him, with the sunlight reflecting in his eyes, with a bloody muzzle and fresh meat lying in front of him, still warm.
I went inside and coldly took my rifle. As I aimed at his head, I saw in his eyes that he realised he had betrayed me, that he threw my faith in him away.
I went to see the damage done. All of the sheep were killed.
And among them four wolves."
