After I turned 18, my weight skyrocketed from 160 to 240 in less than a year. I had all the excuses of why I was that weight, but I didn't really care nor truly notice until I got stretch marks. I had them everywhere: my arms, my thighs, my ass, my breasts, even my calves. I got a job as a factory worker, and I went from weighing 240 pounds to 180 pounds in almost 3 months. I cry looking back on where I was, how depressed it made me. I went from that.

Possibly? It was just a reaction thing I found while reading a thread the one where they showed the intro of that Teen Titans GO episode that they just killed off Slade and told the people who liked the original series to go **** themselves and everyone replying to it was showing extreme anger and came across it. But thanks, now I have something new to watch :v

The full thing was posted a few months back. Following the initial post, and after some encouraging words, some fatty posted about how toxic the girl was and how she was being rude to fat people, and made up some ********* about how excersize was unhealthy for some people.
The real problem was likely that the fat around her skull was blocking any rationale from reaching her.
#149 to #66 - Darkrin ONLINE (09/23/2015) [-]
You know I use to love the fat acceptance movement for one reason, it use to help give people confidence yet still accept their flaws. Because without confident fat people we would never have had Chris Farley. But now it has devolved, and now it is a menace to society.
User avatar #159 to #149 - Viceroy (09/23/2015) [-]
There's already something called body positivity, which is the idea that if you have some physical disfigurement, or even an odd body type, that doesn't mean you don't deserve respect and kindness. The things you can't controll don't define you.
Fat is not a body type, it's a curable affliction. And while it technically can apply to them, most obese people want to feel special so they invented 'fat acceptance'.
And I'm well aware how much of a dick i sound like when I say this, but while Chris Farley was funny, he probably wouldn't have died at 33 if he wasn't so fat.
#176 to #159 - anon (09/23/2015) [-]

excersize was unhealthy for some people.

Well yeah, if you're morbidly obese you don't go out for a run. You ruin your knees like that

Ride a bike instead or something that doesn't put stress on your knees.

It's like these people will try to find the most retarded reasons to excuse themselves for being lazy

Seriously, just drink water. Drink nothing but water. Get a damn hydration bladder and wear it around the house (and job if you can get away with it). It really removes the temptation to have something else to drink. Because most drinks out there are at best barely beneficial and at worst horrible sugary cancer in a can. #107 to #5 - eatwaffles (09/23/2015) [-]
**eatwaffles used "*roll picture*"**
**eatwaffles rolled image**Don't be afraid to ask for help from your doctor. Learning how to eat is a fantastic start, but actually following a plan can be incredibly hard for some people. Using an appetite suppressant can help. However, many people use it as a 'lose weight quick and gain it back quicker!' drug, so learn the right way to eat and the right portions for you before asking for any medication.

I say this because I struggled with my appetite. I ate very well, but couldn't handle the portions. Didn't matter how much fiber or protein or how slowly I consumed each bite, I was always hungry. Especially right after exercising heavily. So, I asked my doctor for help. Three month of an appetite suppressant, and my body got used to the smaller portions. I can now eat like I'm supposed to without feeling ravenous, almost two years later.

Long story short, don't feel ashamed or afraid to ask for help. Insurance doesn't usually cover the medication (if you are in the US), but the pills are cheap on a discount program...about 20 bucks a month.

There are tons of people who can absolutely lose weight and look fabulous without help, and their stories can be incredibly inspiring. But if you need it to stay on the road to being healthy, you will not be alone.

I wish you luck, happiness, and good health!
#238 to #107 - tiarajean (09/25/2015) [-]
Thank you so much, I'll give the eating well a go for 5 or 6 months and if it isn't working I'll go to my GP and see what he says. Prescription drugs in Australia are very expensive so I hope I don't need it.

You've made the first step by admitting there's a problem and wanting to better yourself (:

- Just do one thing today (go for a walk) it HAS to be today. Put some headphones on and just walk into town/around the block/to a friends/a far away shop that has some **** you want
- and do one thing tomorrow
- and every day thereafter
- don't eat if you're not hungry
- eat 3 meals a day at sensible times
- Make good habits

(also, this might not be appropriate and don't do it if you don't want to but take a picture of yourself now, not to upload anywhere or share, but to look at as you lose weight. ****** inspiring as **** )

Good luck (: it's worth the little bit of daily effort you put in

My joints hurt and creaked, I had headaches and was lightheaded, you name it. I eventually put my foot down and said, 'You know what? No. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.'

I joined sports teams, started drinking all kinds of water and eating so much better for me. The weight fell off with very little effort on my part. Now that I'm nearly an entire person lighter I'm starting weight training and more intense exercise to keep the weight coming off. It's not impossible, and criticizing anyone who judges you for your poor lifestyle is just a way to justify being gluttonous and lazy.

User avatar #205 to #174 - Underground (09/24/2015) [-]
What makes them disgusting? I wash and groom mine every three days and do a twice monthly deep cleanse with baking soda and lemon juice. At any given time they smell like lavender. :3

it's just my personal opinion, but its the most unfeminine hairdo that exists on planet earth. So if you want to look as feminine and prettiest imo as possible drop the dreadlocks.
Also the case is that most people don't wash it to keep the curls which is disgusting.
A lot of guys agree with me but ofcourse there is cases of people who enjoy it aswell. But hey, everyone has their own taste.

I'm a huge lesbian so looking feminine isn't really my thing haha. I agree with the no washing thing being gross, I met a girl who was dreading her hair by just neglecting it and letting it get dirty and it was really gross.

You know what no. Okay, when I was about 14 I was the same way, afraid to step on a scale unless forced to at the doctor and seeing pictures of myself made me cry because I really didn't even see myself the way I was unless I looked in a mirror.

I hated myself. I changed my lifestyle and am 90 pounds down. I can run miles, I can do pushups, I can do yoga, all which I couldn't do before.

THIS IS NOT A REFLECTION OF OTHERS.

I don't look at obese people and get offended that they dare to feel beautiful. I don't know what they are going through or how they feel about themselves. I am inspired that they can be happy in a situation that I couldn't be. Prime examples of how happiness is a choice. If I had just chosen to be hopeless and not accept my body as the vessel it was it never would have taken me miles, I never would have pushed my strength to the point where I could finally get myself off the ground.

Pic related, me at 14 and now at 21.

tl, dr: **** off it's seriously not your business to be a dick to people because they aren't living the same life as you.
User avatar #95 to #79 - pointblankhits (09/23/2015) [-]
Well their happy that's fine, as long as they don't expect me to treat them better/worse because of it.

I also don't like when they want fitness standards pushed down to accommodate them.
In my personal experience with the military and that, I want the fit healthy guy/girl that's looked after themselves getting my back over the overweight guy who just about scraped by training

Then again that's just me
#104 to #95 - sparkieemae (09/23/2015) [-]
Cool story bro, I don't think anyone was advocating the military lowering their fitness standards to accommodate out of shape people, and for the record I agree that the military should not lower their fitness standards.

And in general people should accept the preferences of others and not demand anyone else be attracted to them but unless that person you are not attracted to is coming onto you is it really necessary to share that? This bitch being a prime example, like no one asked if you didn't like black guys but K, www.google.com/search?q=sorry+black+boys&espv=2&biw=1517&bih=714&tbm=isch&imgil=E7c0vbnx_Blj4M%253A%253BX9klvYPEH77nHM%253Bhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Ftwitter.com%25252Fkelseyreynolds%25252Fstatus%25252F632010688290947074&source=iu&pf=m&fir=E7c0vbnx_Blj4M%253A%252CX9klvYPEH77nHM%252C_&dpr=0.9&usg=__GT5clzQlQQmqlITI4GyRu-w97Po%3D&ved=0CCgQyjdqFQoTCJe64_z7jcgCFVOdiAodRLoPVQ&ei=6wcDVteYHdO6ogTE9L6oBQ#imgrc=F0-iwAye479brM%3A&usg=__GT5clzQlQQmqlITI4GyRu-w97Po%3D

Anyway, what the post was advocating and I was arguing against was the concept of fat shaming being okay. Being a dick in general isn't cool. Like go ahead and be one, but it's not cool, and it doesn't serve any purpose than to be uncool. Like I said with my own experience people telling me what I already knew perpetuated feelings that I was a worthless incompetent being that wouldn't be capable of accomplishing a goal so why would I even try. My private doctor in a professional environment explaining that I would need to lose weight grounded me in reality and caused me to set realistic goal sets with myself.

Then again, that is just me.
#117 to #104 - pointblankhits (09/23/2015) [-]
It was an example.

I'd never go out and treat an overweight or obese person differently in a social way, always be nice and polite unless it has to do with my job like I said already Except my type of girl isn't over weight so when I go out and a big girl gets offended and thinks it's fine to throw a slap at me because I don't get with her isn't. I laugh it off because I'm a man and I can take a slap but it's not like this is a one time thing, It happens all the ******* time. That's what I don't like, A persons not going to think your good looking just because you think you are and these girls are getting pissed when they get turned down because all they hear is " big is beautiful " and all that stuff, But I seriously digress.

It's 100% better to hear that you need to lose weight from a doctor, but I still think a friend telling you might hurt or whatever but it will still prompt change. It worked out very well for you, that's pretty evident in your photo but I don't think all doctors want to say that to overweight patients even if they should, do they?

Then again.....that's just me
User avatar #120 to #117 - sparkieemae (09/23/2015) [-]
What?? Who the **** just gets beat on in public on a regular basis? Don't just "laugh that off" call the police, some stranger just assaulted you why would you just laugh that off when you have every right to get them arrested at that point?

And doctors don't want to say what? Every doctor I have interacted with is perfectly comfortable telling me what my BMI should be?

And what's just you? That doesn't make sense in this context
"But then again that's just me."
User avatar #127 to #120 - pointblankhits (09/23/2015) [-]
On a night out in pubs and clubs, And a slaps not getting beat on either. Who calls the police when they get a slap? I'm a guy, if she feels a bit better about getting rejected after giving me a slap then that's all good.

I don't think every doctor wants to tell their patient straight up they need to lose weight, hearing BMI and all that is nice but it doesn't mean **** to some people

Oh right, the UK.

I'm from the US and due to private insurance it's more of a private matter medically since the only person you cost money is yourself .

I don't know maybe you guys should sell all your cars to France and replace your roads with Hamster wheels you have to run manually and also stop producing all food but a 1000 calorie tube of nutrient rich paste that everyone is limited to one a day of. Gotta compensate for the cost of public healthcare somehow.

I'm from the US you dimwit.

The cost of medical procedures, medications, and insurance premiums is increasing in large part due to fatties. www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/30/us-obesity-idUSBRE83T0C820120430

I work in a pharmacy and promise you that fat ***** spend WAYYYY more money with medicare/medicaid than healthy looking people. If medicare or medicaid doesn't cover a prescription, the pharmacy legally has to pay for it in full, we raise prices on everything else to compensate for these instances. Spoiler alert: 9/10 of the drugs the government doesn't want to pay for are for fatties.

Fat people are honestly leaches and it costs EVERYONE money.

I think it's not the happiness she hates but the promotion of bad health and asking to be treated like handicapped people.
#88 to #83 - sparkieemae (09/23/2015) [-]
If people are asking to get handicapped assistance due to complications of being overweight it's probably better that they get the assistance they are asking for than to have them collapse and go into heart failure and have to have a team of 12 EMTs have to strap two backboards together and struggle to move this massive person to an ambulance.
Is it sad that they let their situation get to the point where it impacted their health negatively? Yes, of course, but honestly unless you're their doctor it's not your business to comment in that area. I can tell you that my doctor telling me politely that I would need to lose weight before I start negative health effects did a lot more in the way of getting myself in the mindset for a lifestyle change than my peers being assholes and letting me know that I was fat and ugly because I already knew, it already upset me to my core to see pictures of myself all you're doing by insulting people is making them feel worthless and incompetent so it gets to the point of "Why would I even try? I already suck."
User avatar #90 to #88 - magicalfruitbasket (09/23/2015) [-]
Well it is kind of your fault for being fat, i'm not saying and never was that fat people should not get any treatment, i'm just saying society isn't obligated to help them and the people that do believe that are probably the ones that woman is against.
Y'know, the ones that go "hurr thin privilege! i wanna get 2 airplane seats for the price of one! Being fat is completely healthy! All men should find morbidly obese women ******** !"
#169 to #88 - guanyu ONLINE (09/23/2015) [-]
What she says is spot on. I've been in that boat.
If you feel like you're worthless, you don't think you're worth it. That's why they call it worthless, in case you didn't realize.
The only thing that makes you feel better in that situation is running and hiding. You just end up ignoring the problem or even pretending it's okay, good even.
That's where "landwhales" and "neckbeards" and 80% of Funnyjunk users come from.

What helped me to take action was hearing all the risks of obesity and benefits of losing weight, seeing how happy people are when they improve their health and the positive feedback and support they get when they decide to better themselves. On a side note, sleep deprivation also causes a lot of problems, so I'm doing something about that too.
I just started to eat better trying to get the hang of it, anyway , and I already feel a little better. Same with sleep, btw.

That being said, when I start to feel insecure about my appearance or behavior, it just makes me feel like hiding again.
Support helps people, ridicule doesn't. I shouldn't even have to say that. It's not ******* rocket science.

I weighed 186 pounds at my worst. I would stress eat and eat just so I had something to do because I was unhappy in life. My husband tried to kill me and my kids and parents when I kicked him out after ten years of carrying his jobless ass and I suddenly became so stressed and anxious that I stopped eating for days on end. In three weeks I lost 26 pounds. But now, at 155, I have started to eat again but for some reason I eat smaller portions and not as often. Instead of eating because it was meal time, I wait until my body tells me it is hungry.

Halfway through my senior year of high school, I had gotten up to nearly 300lbs. I didn't realize it because I generally hide a lot of weight and am 6'6', but at that time it was starting to become a legitimate issue. I went all out with diet and exercise and dropped to 270 in about 2 months, but then lost my nerve and stayed there for about another year.
It wasn't until I worked at camp and unwittingly lost another 30 pounds or so over the summer of 2014 that I began to feel confidence and inspiration for my physical health again. I started watching what I was eating, not a diet but just not eating pure **** all the time. I regained some weight and was about 250 the past year, but I felt generally healthy.
Working at camp again this past summer and losing weight accidentally brought me down to 230, and now I am adamant about continuing my progress during the school year. As a junior in college I can now actually run a mile in about 7 minutes (in high school I couldn't run a straight mile in general) and I'm starting to genuinely enjoy healthier foods. It feels good.

I've been trying to figure out a diet to lose weight but a number of issues have arisen. A) I don't have money- my mom has had multiple strokes, my sister is handicapped and can't drive, but she needs a ride to work, so I'm stuck as her ride and she never works the same hours. B) I'm a little bitch and have very little self control, if I see that box of Mike and Ikes they're getting eaten C) Rest of my family is a bit overweight too, and my dad really gets pick of the food since he pays for most of it

Is there something inexpensive that is good for you and filling? Again, I gotta stop being a little bitch and stop eating everything that's nailed down, but I honestly don't know what food to start eating to drop pounds. I also need to get active.
User avatar #196 to #182 - teseus (09/23/2015) [-]
Eat whatever you eat now, just a tiny bit less. You see a chocolate on the table? Eat half of it and save the rest for the next day. I absolutely love cereal and instead of eating Nesquik or other sugar-packed **** like that every day, I eat it every other day and I replace it with oatmeal the rest of the time. Make small changes that have little impact on your life because it's more likely they are going to stick.

As for getting active, just try to walk more. When I was in school the buses were crowded as **** every morning and it would take me about 30 minutes to get from home to the bus station, wait for the bus and get to school. I have a quick walking pace so I managed to get to school in about 45 minute by foot. I started waking up 15 minutes earlier and walk instead of traveling by bus. I'd save money on the bus fare and it also helped me focus better in the first few classes of the day.

Whatever you do, make small changes and then use those small changes as a basis for constant improvements.

I managed to drop about 30 pounds in 6 months, by doing two things

1. Dropping soft drinks, sticking to water and juice
2. Lowering my intake of junk food (chips, candy bars, etc.)

No extra exercise, no equipment, nothing. Just one large change, and a few small ones. It really doesn't take much to start losing weight, you've just gotta stick with it, which I'll admit I've had problems with. My junk intake has gone back up, unfortunately, but I still haven't touched a can of pop since New Years Eve.

Still, make those little changes and stick with them. Eat what you want, just less of it, and try adding a little bit of exercise. Park an extra block away from work or wherever you go (unless you got heavy lifting to do, that'll get ridiculous)

Also, try coconut oil instead of butter when cooking. ****** good
