I don't judge Lance Armstrong for using drugs. He was involved in a competition where drugs were a necessity to compete. All the top racers use them. I judge Lance Armstrong for using his prestige and power to ruin others lives, all to try and keep his secret.

Hey Arnold, awyeah
User avatar #26 - haseotakaeda ONLINE (11/16/2013) [-]
Face it,
he won while doping, yeah.
The next top TWENTY SOMETHING competitors were also cheating
His method of blood doping was no more efficient or advanced as theirs
When both parties use the same cheats, the playing field is even
He still won, and even if you eliminated the twenty (three i think) people who placed after him, and provided he wasn't cheating this time around, he would beat the #24.

tldr IDGAF, he cheated against cheaters and won.
#86 to #26 - anon (11/16/2013) [-]
You are very wrong indeed. Even if everyone doped with the exact amount of the exact same drugs, the playing field would not be level, since every single body responds differently. Some people are super-responders to performance enhancing drugs, and some barely respond at all. So the whole "thay all did, so the competition was fair"-thing, is a myth.

tl;dr : Different bodies respond to doping in different ways, so the playing field is not level.
Pic unrelated

Yes but that is just like saying that someone born with larger lungs or more efficient muscle systems has an unfair advantage
#91 to #26 - gerfox (11/16/2013) [-]
You've gotten it all wrong. His methods was at times more efficient than his opponents, his team subsidized doping heavily, and therefore they got better doctors better at administering the different types of doping. You make it out like if there's only two options, either you cheat or you don't - when in fact there's many different forms of cheating - and degrees of it. In this scale Armstrong was definitely one of the hardest users out there, and he came back from CANCER to CRUSH his opponents year after year in the TdF. And don't come here and tell me it was because he was more talented than everyone else, because he rode against for instance Marco Pantani, perhaps one of the greatest climbers - and Jan Ullrich, full of drugs - and at a young age considered perhaps one of the biggest talents every seated on the seat of a bicycle. And it wasn't like it is in the TdF in the post-Armstrong years, with occasional small differences of under 1 min between the top two. Armstrong won every single Tour de France in style, and superbly. He usually was leading with as much as 5 minutes before some of the last mountain stages on the names mentioned, who all were filled with doping.

In addition, what makes Armstrongs case even worse is how he managed his "empire" - and I call it empire because I can. He was the undisputed leader of the peloton, and no one dared to stand up against Armstrong. Just take a look at Frankie Andreu. Frozen out of US Postal because he refused to take drugs. Furthermore he also had the cycling authorities in his pocket, knew when tests were coming up - and if he were to fail it didn't matter - he'd just have some friends to void the results of the test for a couple of hundred grand. This also allowed him to dope more extensively, not having the constant fear of being checked up on, like most others had.

Yes, he defeated cheaters - but he was the worst of them all.

I like how you just downvote me instead of try to argue back. It's easy to claim he's not any worse than the others, it's another thing actually defending your beliefs when they are confronted by logic. Do what you want, sheep.
User avatar #29 to #26 - slugnugget (11/16/2013) [-]
So basically theres no point entering unless you cheat.

The point is maybe their are people in the race that didnt dope that would be Armstrong if they did.

Everyone in the Tour de France uses steroids, so technically he won it fair. Maybe not square, but fair.
User avatar #36 to #31 - assturtle (11/16/2013) [-]
I remember a newscast that said something about a race like "if every contestant using drugs was removed first place would go to the 32nd to finish."
