Yet you forgot the best Mod
#6 - alexanderh (11/13/2014) [-]
Another great mod is SkyRe, aka Skyrim Redone. It completely delevels the world, making you think about when you attempt certain quests (some dungeons will have very high level draugr at level 1, which can kill you instantly). It also overhauls the skill system and introduces the crossbows to the entire world. Combat also feels much better. With light armour you absolutely have to dodge or block all attacks coming at you, otherwise you will die very fast. And with heavy armour, you still need to block as much as possible. it slows down melee combat, making it more tactical.
It introduces new weapons and categories, while also categorising mod weapons based on name (if it has katana in the name, it gets put into a different category than a shortsword or broadsword).
Racial bonuses are also drastically changed, to make the races feel more unique (khajiit walk and run faster and have a "panic" mode if they get down to 25 % health, making attacks almost instant. Other races have similarly useful abilities). You can choose which parts of the mod you want when you install it through the Nexus Mod Manager.

Another mod that I refuse to play without is called "Death Alternative - Your money or Your Life". Whenever your health reaches 0, you get the same death animation that essential NPC's get. If you have any spare dragon souls or black soul gems, you can continue fighting, but reaching 0 health again will kill you. If you don't spend the soul, you will be in this bleedout stage with a bleedout health bar until the fight is over (your companion saved you) or your bleedout health reaches 0. If your bleedout health reaches 0, you will become unconscious. You will later wake up to one of a few things happening. if you were killed by bandits, they will have taken some of your stuff. Otherwise, you will mostly keep it. You can now fight again, but if you die again before your bleedout health has regenerated to max, you will die.
Continued in next post.

SkyRe is a nightmare when it comes to compatibilities. Any mods that add or remove enemy spawns dicks you over, as suddenly there are 10 bandits on hard-mode punching 1/4ths of your health off through a blocked attack.

Also, **** mods that add equipment in general. Especially if it gets added to the loottable of enemies that equip it. Some will equip themselves in full iron chainmail worth exactly 0 defense and die in a stiff breeze. Creating a massive contrast.

This is (partially) fixeable with stuff like reproccer. But it takes quite some time and ***** bound to break something.
#111 to #97 - alexanderh (11/14/2014) [-]
I wouldn't say it's a nightmare. I didn't have any problems, but I didn't add a ******* of mods either.
#128 to #6 - couchcow (11/15/2014) [-]
I have a question, if you're willing/able to answer it. I have skyrim redone, and when i activate it, it removes either the meshes or the textures from some items, like all silver weapons, or the nightingale bow, or some masks. I tried nuking my downloads, starting all over, but it still doesn't work.

Both vanilla and modded, since that matters.

Would you, or anyone else reading this know what might be a solution? I've tried redownloading like i've said, and i don't know what's wrong.
#142 to #128 - alexanderh (11/15/2014) [-]
Try using BOSS or something similar to check load order and incompatibilities.
#148 to #142 - couchcow (11/15/2014) [-]
Have, still hasn't fixed it. doesn't say there's any incompatibilities. Haven't tried LOOT but i feel the result would be the same

skyre's sequal is out now so your comment is invalid
#141 to #139 - alexanderh (11/15/2014) [-]
You might want to read the entire comment. I didn't only mention skyre. And skyre is still pretty relevant, I'm not switching to the new mod before I'm done with this playthrough, which could last quite a while.
#7 to #6 - alexanderh (11/13/2014) [-]
Your bleedout health will regenerate slowly during play, but it is easiest to just go to an inn and wait a bit for it to regenerate.
I got killed by bandits with this mod on, waited in an inn, went back to the bandits, got killed again, waited at the inn, and then (because they stole all my gear) came at them, completely nude except for a loin cloth, wielding nothing but an iron sword. And killed them all.
Overall, a pretty great mod if you're tired of restarting from quicksaves and autosaves.

I also have a single follower mod. I never used followers before I got this mod because they were ALWAYS in the way when stealthing. But I downloaded INIGO, and it was worth it. He is voiced very well, has some funny jokes, and best of all, he doesn't get in the way when you're trying to be stealthy. He doesn't push you into traps (mostly), and you can set his aggression level by talking to him (a little buggy, but it is skyrim we're talking about). he has a ton of custom voiced lines, and some of them are genuinely funny. And when you're stealthing, he will whisper at you instead of talking to you in a normal voice.

I played Skyrim trough the main campains and DLCs with a good load of mods. It was fun times.

I wanna try out Oblivion too, but I would rather do it with updated textures and such. Problem is I have no idea how to install the OBS mods from the nexus sites. I've tryed looking up walktroughs on the forums and on youtube, but they left me just as confused as I was before.
I would ask for help, but at this point I'm just to scared to ask.

OBS mods ? you mean mods that needs OBSE to work ? If it is that I can help you
User avatar #156 to #18 - sinonyx (11/15/2014) [-]
you need oblivion mod manager (not nexsus mod manager) and OBSE (oblvion script extender)
User avatar #19 to #18 - noblekira [OP](11/14/2014) [-]
I am clueless with Nexus, I just use the steamworkshop.

However i would say play oblvion regardless of the graphics, IN MY OPINION! Oblivion is so much more immersive than skyrim
#65 to #19 - alexanderh (11/14/2014) [-]
The nexus is very easy to use. Download the nexus mod manager, and just click the magnet link on the mod page (download with NMM).
Then you wait for it to download, and you click install. If there're any options, you can choose now. Otherwise, it'll be installed.
#130 to #65 - twilightdusk (11/15/2014) [-]
Steam Workshop is even easier though. You click the subscribe button on a mod in the workshop and next time you load the game, there it is.
#140 to #130 - alexanderh (11/15/2014) [-]
But it is very limited in file size and how many files you can add. Most of the really good mods are on the nexus, because they are too large or have too many files for the workshop.
#21 to #19 - kokett (11/14/2014) [-]
Finally someone who can recommend steamworkshop-mods. I have about 130 mods installed on Skyrim and all are from steamworkshop (mostly alternative armours, etc). Please stay this way, I would love to hear more about good and usefull mods!

Have tried the mods from ThirteenOranges?
It's bunch of quest mods that are exclusive to the steam workshop and supposedly very good. If I wasn't using requiem I'd play them.

I've tried to, but I have so many other games laying around I'm afraid I can't give it the full attention it deserves. Atleast not now, maybe at the holydays.
User avatar #10 - Dragonchampion ONLINE (11/14/2014) [-]
I have 159 mods, sexual and realism mods both. While sometimes thing sget perverted, something is to be said of becoming a vampire while balancing food, sleep, realistic hunting, drink, temperature, blood requirement, and arousal. know it sounds bad, but right now I have arousal set so it auto-blanks the screen so I don't need to watch the scenes. So that's entirely optional.

Plus I have deadly dragons, making fighting a single dragon a 30-60 minute long haul even with the most advanced armor and items in the game.

Let's also mention Morkskrom Estate, a fully customizeable superhouse, as well as things like Moonpath to Elswyr which adds in a visitable Elswyr to the game, and the almighty Falskaar.

I am level 30, and already have around 30 hours on this character, and I specifically cheated to give myself enough stuff to get smithing to level 50 at level 1, because I was having to restart for the third time in four days thanks to mod ******* .

Essentially, what I wanted was a world that I can do anything. I want to be a perv? So be it. I want to be a slave owner? That's cool too. I want to become a vampire lord, eliminating Volkihar clan and placing myself as the vampire overlord? Yep. I want to tame beasts and use my overwhelming beastial army to wipe anything off the face of the planet I don't like? That is possible too.

Sexlabs. Go look.
One of my plays with various mods ended up with me basically whoring myself out to get enough coin to eat for a day. Buying a new shield so I'd stop being murdered on my way out of riverwood only to be stripped for everything I had when I was KOed upon leaving. Murdering an innocent farmer just for his clothing and shoes so I wouldn't freeze to death.

>Starks don't use magic

Bran is becoming a tree god, and can Warg, as can Jon and Arya, who also can use face changing magic. Robb and Rickon probably can warg too. Also, Catelyn is a reanimated zombie. There are three types of Stark: Magical, Dead, and Sansa. Most fall into the first category.

Here's a handful of my mods (I'm playing as a ranger.)
- Camping Mod - adds portable tents/alchemy labs, and other assets that can be placed wherever you like.
- Mudcrab Salt Piles - Turn Mudcrab Chitns into Salt Piles.
- Hunting Overhaul - Higher prices for pelts and meat, and pelts can be treated with Salt Piles to increase their value.
- Manure Mod - Animals generate poop, which works as an easy-to-access damage health alchemy ingredient.
- Tameable Animals - Does what is says on the tin really - you tame a beast, and it levels up as it battles.
- Varied Animals - Adds a whole ton of possible variations in colouring to Skyrim's basic wildlife.

Got like 40 or something now and the game crashes the first time I open it after booting up, but I just couldn't play without mods now.

Why you should mod Skyrim
User avatar #94 - fargfive (11/14/2014) [-]
>Frostfall

yeah, no. Unless they've overhauled it since the last time I uninstalled it, Frostfall is probably one of the least realistic mods out there. Even as a Nord, the northern parts of Skyrim are basically uninhabitable because of how cold they are. I tried hiking to Winterhold once in some of the warmest armor you can get and by the time I was within sight of the town I was having to stop and throw down a campfire to keep myself from dying every few minutes.

The problem isn't that it makes Skyrim too cold, it's that there's no reliable way of keeping warm. Any armor you find in Skyrim should be assumed to have some pretty significant insulation unless you're finding it on a corpse in the middle of a snowdrift.
User avatar #157 to #94 - sinonyx (11/15/2014) [-]
full leather armor, cloak, frost resistance, and snowberry extract... you'll do fine unless a snowstorm hits
User avatar #158 to #157 - fargfive (11/15/2014) [-]
>leather
Do you take me for some kind of light armor-wearing milkdrinker?
That's part of the issue. Every set of armor should be viable for cold weather because there's no reason for someone not to have insulated armor in Skyrim.
User avatar #164 to #94 - noblekira [OP](11/15/2014) [-]
You can set it up to how deadly you want, personally i enjoy the concept of freezing to death when a storm hits, then you have to find and chill in a hold for a while
User avatar #96 to #94 - Zeigh (11/14/2014) [-]
Same reason why I uninstalled it. It made questing in the northern areas of Skyrim damn near impossible.
#105 - wwhhaaq (11/14/2014) [-]
the problem though with modding skyrim is that it is fundamentally boring and even if you mod the **** out of it the combat will still be bland and the missions will still all involve fighting draugr

Oh this? It was like 2 years ago. Can't remember all the mods I have that time Ive made a fresh install this May. But I can still teach you the secrets of modding if you have the patience young padawan. There are many paths on the Skyrim Modding which created many types of modders which are roughly:
-Realist Modders ( people who focuses on the gameplay and immersiveness, like OP)
-Enviromental Modders (people who focus on the enviroment (like rocks, air, roads, water) more than anything)
-Visualists (people who focuses on the characters more than anything)

Choose your path and we shall begin. Here's another one of my old screenshots.
