To all those who don't understand

The jail is supposed to be "anticipated game hell"
people looked foreward to duke nukem since forever and it came out finally in 2011
hence being released.
the new guy is gordon freeman

If you had only bothered trying to keep up on Half-Life related news, you pretty much know that Half-Life 3 is being worked on at this moment, but you'd have to remember that's in Valve Time, but they are working on it.

They're just good games. Half Life 2 was the first shooter I really got into, and HL2: Episode 2 was pretty weak (I'd say the weakest in the series. HL1 isn't as enjoyable, but considering how long ago it was made, you gotta give it credit), but the cliffhanger was crazy.

"decent" story?! Half-life has an amazing plot, which in my opinion has to be uncovered and investigated by the audience themselves. The jaw-dropping plot has to be unveiled underneath the plot which many people see as they play the game (a rebellion against alien invaders).

It's like Dark Souls, where you aren't given all the pieces to a puzzle, instead you have to fill those gaps with an interpretation of your own.

While many may proclaim that it had a 'decent' story, I'd say that simply labeling it decent wouldn't be fair.
I can understand though that those without any knowledge in physics would dismiss all the genius references to scientific phenomenon.
Half-Life not only touches upon the whole alien-overlord and human uprising-theme, but I see it as an indirect criticism/evaluation of the term ENTANGLEMENT (which may grant us the ability to teleport in the nearest future). Try playing through the games once more and notice how important the ability to teleport is to them. It's constantly mentioned.
The whole of Half-Life (Half-Life 2 especially) is like a statement of the paths on which science can lead us. This may sound very obscure, but though many may overlook the game-series' deeper layers, it really is deep ****.

I'll take the red thumbs but here we go:

I liked it, even though it was ****. Maybe it's because I told myself I'd love it, waiting 12 years, but I liked it. Than again, I didn't play all the Duke games, so probably I'm not a die-hard fan. The fact you could gain health by gaining ego was cool. The subtle jokes were funny because they were created in the intention to not be funny, which thus made it funny. Although it wasn't anything wonderful, I enjoyed the time playing it. Maybe if they changed the name and main character, and sold it as a whole new game, it'd done a bit better.

Honestly, Forever really wasn't that bad. A lot of people honestly expected way too much of it.

I kept my expectations realistic: A new Duke Nukem game that'd be just that. Another Duke Nukem game. Nothing epic, and probably not as good as 3D, but fun nontheless.

It was exactly that.

Just barely. The whole game was super linear with the only redeaming aspect being that it's fun to kill things. Other than that it is definately what you would call mediocre

I thought it was ok, but my major complaint is Duke Nukem was a very classic shooter, where you carried a ton of crazy weapons all at once, and picking up health and armor made it faster paced. The new one had regenerating health and only 2 weapon slots, which made it feel a little more like a watered down Halo.

The prison is a metaphor for games that have been in development for a long ass time. The guy talking is duke nukem, a 90's video game star who has had its newest game be in production for over 12 years only to be release a couple years go to bad reviews. The"new guy" is gordon Freeman, the led of an acclaimed video game series half life which had its last game end on a cliffhanger many years ago and to this day has not had it concluded. He doesnt say anything because gordon is a silent protagonist,

But they didn't make DNF. They just finished up what was there into a playable shooter and shipped it out. I'm hoping that since they at least have the license, if they make something with Duke now, that it'll turn out okay. They treat Borderlands alright (it is their baby, after all, though), but Colonial Marines has left me uneasy.

The point still stands that they couldn't give half a **** about the outbound product rather than the cash they'd get in. It doesn't make sense to me though, since big name games already have the name on it, the developers should already expect SOME money to come in, so wouldn't it be better to keep delaying it in order to make a GOOD game that everyone would want to play and hence buy?

Alien Resurrection on PS1 was pretty good. Classic AvP on PC were good too, and Predator: Concrete Jungle was OK. The thing is, you COULD make an epic FPS game from the alien franchise but Fox doesn't want just anyone to handle their milk cow, and when they do let someone take it, it's more often to companies that just want a cash flow rather than to make a game.
