Sadly I left it about 7 years ago when I moved to England so I cant give much tips for uni-related stuff. But one thing id say to do is go to Lake Balaton. Great fun that place is. Oh and eat Goulash! God I love that stuff

I see. One more thing. How cold is in winter?
User avatar #22 to #21 - lororl (10/29/2013) [-]
It varys, sometimes theres not much snow but alot of cold winds, and then theres the times where you got a ******* of snow everywhere. Snow is my favorite time since everyone just sleds down any hill they can find. My uncle even got out a bottle of palinka (Hard ass alcohol you gotta drink when your over there, take in shots), poured it on a snowball and made me eat it. Aaah good times
User avatar #23 to #22 - lororl (10/29/2013) [-]
With snow = Big coats, boots, gloves, etc..
Without = Warm vest/hoodie/jumper + normal clothes and maybe gloves and a warm hat

In basic what to wear in winter stuff

How's Budapest? I assume no one lives anywhere else in that country. Just kidding. But seriously, what's it like? I heard it's like the gateway to the east (of europe) or something.

From what I remember its a great place, lots to do, cant give a full list of everything since I havent been back there for a few years. quiet a few prostitutes in budapest though when I was last there

Orca are more closely related to dolphins than to whales.

User avatar #31 to #27 - vladhellsing (10/29/2013) [-]
The name "killer whale" is actually a mistranslation of the Spanish for "whale killer", after Spanish whalers spotted orcas hunting other whales too.
User avatar #29 to #26 - leprecono (10/29/2013) [-]
Orcas are dolphins mate

noun: dolphin; plural noun: dolphins
a small gregarious toothed whale that typically has a beaklike snout and a curved fin on the back. Dolphins have become well known for their sociable nature and high intelligence.

AND small. killer whales are big enough to kill a sea world trainer and get the tape released to CNN 5 years later
#48 to #39 - irishbeer (10/29/2013) [-]
Let me hit you with some knowledge, cus quite frankly **** the english definition. It's time for the science definition.
Dolphins and whales are Cetaceans (Classification)
Dolphins (Orca included) are delphinidae (family)
Big ************* whales are Balaenopteridae
So there's a difference. Whales and dolphins are all cetaceans. But not all dolphins are whales and not all whales are dolphins

Source: I'm a ************* marine bio major.
User avatar #65 to #48 - quotes (10/29/2013) [-]
The killer whale (Orcinus orca), also referred to as the orca whale or orca, and less commonly as the blackfish, is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family. Killer whales are found in all oceans, from the frigid Arctic and Antarctic regions to tropical seas.
again is hard to find a definition that doesnt state them as toothed whales
User avatar #64 to #48 - quotes (10/29/2013) [-]
yes but every single definition on ever website everywhere
define dolphin's as toothed whales
i am aware they are both from teh same family and im aware the orca is a dolphin
but unless you can find me an official definition stating a dolphin is not a whale you have yet to hit me with knowledge
#43 to #16 - twentyten (10/29/2013) [-]
It goes as this. All dolphins are whales, but not all whales are dolphins. That being said, Orcas are indeed dolphins (infact one of the largest), and therefore is also a whale.
User avatar #44 to #43 - vladhellsing (10/29/2013) [-]
But I doubt you'd be making the same argument if that was a bottlenose.
#45 to #44 - twentyten (10/29/2013) [-]
Well the term 'whale' is kinda confusing at times, at least for me. I'm not a marine biologist or anything like that. I just search, "are dolphins whales". Some argue that there are two different suborders of whales; ones with teeth vs. those with the Keratin filters.

Just curious: why can't bottlenose dolphins be whales?
User avatar #50 to #45 - vladhellsing (10/29/2013) [-]
'Cetacea' is the order that whales & dolphins belong to, true enough, but we don't call dolphins 'whales' any more than we call humans 'apes'. Dolphins belong to the family 'Delphinidae', of which orcas are a part of.
#60 to #50 - twentyten (10/29/2013) [-]
Because humans are not part of the "ape family", but they both part of the Hominidae superfamily. Bit dolphins in the other hand are under the whale category.
User avatar #66 to #60 - vladhellsing (10/30/2013) [-]
Humans are a subset of apes; we share a common ancestor with the "great apes" such as chimps & gorillas. In fact one of the defining traits of apes is that the genetalia hangs freely instead of being fused to the torso like it is on other animals. So we're connected to chimps & gorillas by our wangs... so to speak.
#67 to #66 - twentyten (10/30/2013) [-]
Apes and Great Apes are not the same thing though. Apes are under the category of Great Apes, or Hominoidea.

I have never been to anything that involved intelligent animals. We have a big aquarium over here, but the biggest thing there is a ray.
#54 to #9 - grandogger (10/29/2013) [-]
explain??? I have not seen it but I know the tape got released
User avatar #58 to #54 - cousin ONLINE (10/29/2013) [-]
Basically, how badly treated the animals are. How they breed them, split their young up from them and you can hear them crying for days.
User avatar #59 to #58 - helenwheels (10/29/2013) [-]
Even if they were trying to make things nice for them there it wouldn't mater. Orca's are the ultimate badass of the ocean and they cannot recreat what its like to go wherever you want and eat whatever you want 100% of the time
User avatar #62 to #59 - cousin ONLINE (10/29/2013) [-]
