Okay, I think I'm a retard with the first one.

What does that mean? People who died at 25 aren't buried until 75...because reasons?

No money or people to bury them?

They died on the inside at 25, but aren't buried/completely dead until 75.

They are alive, but their spirit is dead. They literally die at 75, but figuratively speaking, they have been dead ever since their spirit died.

I thought it was about soldiers who died at 25 and wthen were buried naturally at 75, however, the quote is apparently wrongly credited to Franklin, according to:

'I can not be a traitor, for I owe him no allegiance. He is not my Sovereign; he never received my homage; and whilst life is in this persecuted body, he never shall receive it. To the other points whereof I am accused, I freely confess them all. As Governor of my country I have been an enemy to its enemies; I have slain the English; I have mortally opposed the English King; I have stormed and taken the towns and castles which he unjustly claimed as his own. If I or my soldiers have plundered or done injury to the houses or ministers of religion, I repent me of my sin; but it is not of Edward of England I shall ask pardon.'

My favourite William Wallace quote. Bear in mind he said this in trial in an english court where he faced torture if he did not confess to treason.

Some pretty kewl quotes by Euripides:
"...For real friendship is shown in times of trouble; / prosperity is full of friends."

"...Then no man on earth is truly free. / All are slaves of money or necessity. / Public opinion or fear of prosecution / forces each one, against his conscience, / to conform."

"O Zeus, what can I say?... / Or do we, holding that the gods exists, / deceive ourselves with unsubstantial dreams / and lies, while random careless chance and change / alone control the world?".

User avatar #6 to #3 - testaburger (11/26/2015) [-]
Make yourself into a person you're capable of loving.

If you suck, then you suck, and the only way to love yourself is to improve.
User avatar #5 to #3 - ezzay (11/26/2015) [-]
You need to learn to love yourself before others can. Loving yourself doesn't mean being complacent being **** , but rather, knowing you are better than you were as a human, and continually striving to better yourself in all forms. Instead of degrading and devaluing yourself.

I discovered that Oscar Wilde quote, "Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions. Their lives a mimicry. Their passions a quotation." in jr. high, and it's been my favorite ever since. Back then, i thought it talked about the way people drifted to popular opinion to avoid argument, or changed the way they behaved or thought to please others. But recently I've started to think that perhaps it could be talking about how we take aspects we admire in others and assimilate them into ourselves, until we are our own unique combination of ideas passed down by great people. I think it's interesting to see how differently I've begun to interpret things since finishing school. It was probably the best thing to ever happen to my education and the world since has seemed far less narrow.

Well if you truly think this sentence is a positive one you should go back to school, what he means is most people are not capable of thinking for themselves, they just mimic what they hear, becoming just a copy of someone else. Never truly living since his life isn't truly his, but somebody else's.
User avatar #30 to #23 - tellybear (11/27/2015) [-]
I don't think the quotation was written with positivity in mind, no. I just think it's interesting that i rethought it after all these years. I also don't think people are that stupid. It might make you feel a little special to pretend like you're above the 'average', and the 'normal' person questions nothing and goes throughout life being led anywhere by candy on a stick, but people are intelligent and although they may think differently i don't think they think less... I'm aware of the literal translation of the quote. Not that any of this means anything since you're an anon and will never see this. I'm just putting down my thought process I guess.
User avatar #42 to #30 - bigswingingrichard (11/27/2015) [-]
Eh, who is he to tell you how to think. Really what he said was hypocrisy. It isn't about trying to find one meaning or the right meaning, it is about finding what you believe and your meaning. I wonder who first thought of anon's process.

btw like your thought process, very creative and out of the box.
