It will not go away because record studios keep the original copy in a vinyl because it is in an Analogue (physical) then convert it to CD/File (digitial) this way they can re-release and "Remaster" and create multiple copies of the recordings as much as they want without losing much quality (Lossy) but vinyl always offers the true to form sound of the original (Lossless) , but to be honest most mainstream bands use so much digitizing and digital manipulation that keeping Vinyl copies of them is pretty much pointless, hence why dubstep/techno artists just save everything on their Hard drive, and how a lot of them upload it on the internet in case it was lost or stolen.

Live is always the best quality of course, especially for rock bands.

8-track is a type of tape (like a cassette) but it requires a special playing device. What is special about it though, it that it allows for what is essentially surround sound, rather than the mono that cassettes produce.

My dad (58 years old) still has some 8-track tapes and several 8-track players.

Without any proper labeling or information, this pie chart gif is practically meaningless. Is this based on a survey? Is this sales? Is this supposed to be answering a question such as "what form do people acquire or listen to music?" because if so, it's not even close to considering every format of music over the years. "TV" and "Internet" are much to vague regardless. And where is the radio? It still exists, you know.

such is our world today. everyone has an opinion they like to share as fact and everyone is to believe them

Maybe it only counts purchases and TV would encompass DVDs or something like that.

I wish OP would give a source because I'm quite confused myself.

As well as the original vinyl masters were better mixed than any kind of remasters.
User avatar #25 - mondominiman (04/10/2014) [-]
Don't vinyls have the highest quality audio?
#36 to #25 - kanyesfishsticks (04/10/2014) [-]
Yup. Its the only reason they are still around.
#89 to #25 - flyhawk (04/10/2014) [-]
When in perfect condition yes, however the quality degrades over time as the needle runs through he tracks of the vinyl numerous times, hence why classic vinyls in mint condition sell for big bux
#39 to #25 - jaked ONLINE (04/10/2014) [-]
It's arguable. They have better frequency range, but they have that snapping and popping and they degrade every time they're played. For now they're the highest quality, but with the prospect of extremely high bitrate recordings becoming standard on the horizon google pono, that's just the beginning that's going to change.
User avatar #142 to #39 - ryderjbudde (04/10/2014) [-]
I google that all the time, I don't see what that has to do with...

Oh.
User avatar #28 to #25 - cowbell (04/10/2014) [-]
Pretty much since analog does not get limited in frequency like digital audio.

User avatar #85 to #82 - woodenalligator (04/10/2014) [-]
an 8 track, sir, is like a large cassette. They have four sets or 'sides' to them. The reason for being called 8 tracks, yet having four sides, was because of having two channels for the speakers.
