Admin, this content is important. Don't know if text content gives alerts to those who are mentioned in them.

We have a Report Bugs page, it is what we are supposed to use... hence why it exists.
User avatar #212 to #138 - cryoticshell (04/09/2014) [-]
This person should have used it then. I did the only thing I could since he didn't.
User avatar #21 to #2 - psykobear (04/08/2014) [-]
Admin has mentions turned off anyways.

I get that too. I feel like it's possible a cloudshare thing, or maybe a server blocking access. Then again, idk **** about how the site works, so I'm not gonna say anything's for sure.

Admin has tried to fix this problem before. This is not about your computers specs, it's a bug. Hopefully it will be fixed in some time.

User avatar #1 - aximil (04/07/2014) [-]
Agreed. I have had to enable my adblock for this site again because that is a virus.
User avatar #191 - slugnugget (04/08/2014) [-]
This is why we don't turn off adblock on your site admin.

implying i'd turn it off anyway

Now this I love. Users helping Admin work out some problems with the site instead of just bitching like me. Ye, this is great. I'll stick to being a little bitch though.

Step 1: Open a text editor on your computer as an administrator
Step 2: Go to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc" and open the hosts file
Step 3: Copy and paste This: 127.0.0.1 You need to login to view this link
Step 4: Save file to same location with no extension
Step 4: ????
Step 5: Profit

What this actually does is tells your computer and browser that the information at that url is located on your own device and since your device isn't (Atleast I hope not) a server that automatically downloads a virus it won't do anything. You can copy paste that ip address into google and see that it's a 'home ip'
User avatar #7 to #5 - goldenfairy (04/08/2014) [-]
It would be better idea to block whole "getsecureinstall.com" domain.
If it's private server then blocking their IP is even better solution.
User avatar #8 to #5 - wertgf (04/08/2014) [-]
I thought that was DNS, meaning it will simply assign the name of the website to an IP, but if you were to connect to that IP without the name it would still connect?

Why should every FJ user do this if it needs a single change from admin.

Off Topic:
Well since admin included the ads again I activated Adblock on FJ.
Because these ads are really annoying now (open other pages which bring sound etc. and now maleware).
...
admin could get a much more donations if he added a paypal option,
we also bring him a ******* of ideas, similar things like reddit gold and 4chan pass.
So we wouldn't even need this ads anymore.
Instead of making new way to get money he is changing the Layout.

I've been using my hosts file to block all kinds of advertising services, analytics, and other **** that I don't need.
I started with adblock, but the hosts file also helps to block them in other places such as Skype.

That's a good way to mess with someone's computer, like redirect google to wherever you want, or any other combination really
User avatar #179 - kyoutu (04/08/2014) [-]
I turned off adblock.
Adds turned out to be infectious.
Gave admin a week to fix it.
No fix.
Turned adblock back on for good.

Didn't you used to have pink text?
User avatar #30 to #29 - thechosentroll (04/08/2014) [-]
Yes, yes I did. I went to great lengths to get rid of it, though. **** was hard. I had to become a mod, get permanent colored text, have my mod rights revoked and lose my permanent text, which also got rid of the pink **** .
User avatar #31 to #30 - rheago (04/08/2014) [-]
Yeah I know

why did you get your mod privileges revoked?
User avatar #139 to #77 - thechosentroll (04/08/2014) [-]
Because I was a ****** mod, duh. I gave people who posted borderline warnings instead of outright banning them. Turns out that's too soft for a mod.

he gets them but he gets so many he ignores all of em
User avatar #52 to #40 - thechosentroll (04/08/2014) [-]
Also, I doubt he gives too much of a **** about stuff random users send him. If you did it, he may actually bother reading it.
User avatar #49 to #40 - thechosentroll (04/08/2014) [-]
**** . Could you at least link him to it or something? Server bills are important and all, but I seriously doubt he wants scam ads on his site. I doubt advertisers take too kindly to that sort of thing, either.

User avatar #47 - EdwardNigma (04/08/2014) [-]
Dude, ******* message him this with the title "Malware from ads" or something or go to report bugs, then he will actually see it quicker.
#163 to #47 - Rascal (04/08/2014) [-]
I tried to when this first happened to me. His profile was disable from being viewed. I could not message him. And yes I was logged in.
User avatar #185 to #47 - amsel (04/08/2014) [-]
It's a slippery slope. If everyone gets the mentality of "Wow I have a thought, lets message admin" then soon admin will get like 300 messages a day of "I clicked the thumb button and it said 'request failed try again later' can you help" or "I think you should give me colored text because it will totally improve the site in the following ways."

There should be some consideration towards having a panel of mods that do slightly different functions. Like a "Suggestions Moderator" and a "Technical Moderator" who are all the first point of contact for a specific type of problem. Then the important stuff can trickle in to Admin and the site developers.

I've messaged Admin with bugs or bannable **** before I was a mod, and usually it did the job, I don't understand why this is such a difficult thing to comprehend.
User avatar #78 to #58 - klick (04/08/2014) [-]
Arn't you a moderator or something? Someone who's supposed to alert admin when something is up;; so when he see's a report from you he would address is faster.
User avatar #97 to #78 - critality (04/08/2014) [-]
Can you read though? "I've messaged Admin with bugs or bannable **** before I was a mod"
User avatar #99 to #97 - klick (04/08/2014) [-]
huh. Apparently not.
User avatar #73 to #58 - fishinyourface (04/08/2014) [-]
maybe they feel they've done that before and it was drowned out by other messages? at any rate it might help if you messaged him about it. I don't know if mod messages are put at the top or some ****

I don't get admin. He might be good at flexing his arms but managing a site doesn't seem to be his thing.

He wants us to pay his bills, fair enough. Since we are the users of it. But then again he does absolutely zero to make it either easy or rewarding for us to donate. No donation button apart from that message/links in the top of the page. No sort of extra minifeature or icon for people who donated, nothing.

Admin is just taking the path of least resistance in my opinion. Apparently creating an option or button to donate, which is stupidly easy, is too much to ask. And a tiny reward for doing so as well.

I mean it's his funeral but comeone.

Tl dr Admin is just being a lazy arse. Like I pointed out so many times.

**** yeah adblock.
That **** is amazing.
User avatar #160 to #146 - thegrimgenius (04/08/2014) [-]
But, funnyjunk needs them.
#189 to #161 - kingantichrist (04/08/2014) [-]
I agree with this guy

not ever seeing annoying ads > Funnyjunk revenue
User avatar #162 to #161 - thegrimgenius (04/08/2014) [-]
Then let funnyjunk lose revenue, you don't need funnyjunk either I suppose.
User avatar #193 to #192 - thegrimgenius (04/08/2014) [-]
How is it wrong to appeal to emotions? Also, if you have adblock on, that hurts FJ, it ain't ******** or anything.
User avatar #194 to #193 - anenemy (04/08/2014) [-]
""You attempted to manipulate an emotional response in place of a valid or compelling argument."

Did you even read it? Also, you didn't say it would 'hurt FJ," you implied that FJ would completely disappear.
User avatar #195 to #194 - thegrimgenius (04/08/2014) [-]
I did read it, I just asked why is it wrong to. "In place of a valid or compelling argument" quite something for someone who's basically saying "I don't give a **** ". The only argument is "Hey, it used to be good, I stick around for the rare good bits". You realize if more people thought like you the ads would get worse quick. This would probably mean more and more people use it, thus, FJ loses revenue, it dies, 404, gone forever. A-C.
User avatar #165 to #162 - thecurlysage (04/08/2014) [-]
admin took too long to get rid of the ****** ads so i got rid of them all

funnyjunk died a long time ago
User avatar #178 to #177 - thegrimgenius (04/08/2014) [-]
Then why are you picking at a carcass?
User avatar #180 to #178 - thecurlysage (04/08/2014) [-]
i commented saying adblock is sweet in an attempt to get thumbs because i know many users share my opinion and it's handy to get rid of the annoying ads. there is no carcass picking
User avatar #181 to #180 - thegrimgenius (04/08/2014) [-]
I meant why are you here.
User avatar #184 to #181 - thecurlysage (04/08/2014) [-]
funnyjunk was my home it was full of creative and funny OC. any and all reposters were batted away and it was amazing. slowly people started to become more accepting to reposts as admin become nicer. funnjunk quickly became filled with reposts and all that opposed any reposts were shunned. i'm still here because funnjunk was unique. i am here because the thing that made funnyjunk so unique still pops up every once in awhile.
#186 to #184 - thegrimgenius (04/08/2014) [-]
Then go on, while I disagree with your actions, I cannot deny the past.
