I know it's a joke but I actually think that the vr makes the players see the "ghosts" attacking but in a way that if the players shot the "ghost" the bullet would hit the person. Kind of like a projection.
On one hand, if you showed this to an idiot, you'd get an hour-long speech of "TURCHNOLORY IS EEEEEEEVIIIIIIIIL!", which is a lot of ammo for those guys. On the other, I have a semi-boner now.
personally i feel only an idiot would get technology is evil vibe from that.
Id get more a government using a drug like experience to get you to kill real life targets as a much more accurate and terrifying vide for Humanity is evil.
Kind of a similar scenario to Ender's Game, innit? Granted, this is disguised as VR gaming rather than military simulations but it's still a cover for actual military operations in which the user is an unwitting controller of those forces.
That was pretty cool. Reminded me a bit of that movie Gamer.
Also, if anybody's a reader, Otherland is a pretty cool book, about a group of people that get trapped in VR and have to jump from world to world trying to escape the forces trying to keep them there.
Wow, just imagine if there are side effects. Typing this about halfway through so I dont know if it states something like that like constantly mixing up visual signals in your brain the way synesthesia. as i type i reach where he becomes desert robot and am now more intrigued Like god damn this one of the most well made things I've ever seen, thanks for sharing OP.
