can i have incomplete immortality?
User avatar #23 to #22 - comicexplain (11/26/2015) [-]
Sure, but that doesn't sound efficient. I don't want to age past 25, and I'd like my cells to be in a state of healing 24/7. Self-perpetuating. No need for food, water, sleep, though can still do those things.

I wonder how long it'll take before I start wandering the earth - Might take a while to start, but I literally have all the time in the world. It'll be even better if my children become exceptionally long lived, and their children, and so on - Imagine having the combined experience to figure out the worlds problems.

We wouldn't be standing on the shoulders of giants. We would be the giants, helping the world to turn into something more. It's a fun thought!

Except you'd all die eventually
as the universe turns into a complete equilimbrium
User avatar #35 to #33 - comicexplain (11/26/2015) [-]
I think I could survive the heatdeath of the universe. Or maybe even learn how to avoid it. Knowledge would be stored infinity, after all.
User avatar #36 to #35 - icameheretotroll ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
Not to mention your brain you'd forget about who you were eventually even if you kept a journal of some sort you wouldn't actually remember who you were after a long time
you'd just have a journal telling you who you were.

you wouldn't be able to get robotic parts into your body, since your body would eventually push them out by healing if you were truly immortal, wouldn't be able to get plastic surgery, not to mention the fact that when you stop aging the authorities would notice something eventually especially in the future if everything becomes very controlled and they'd most likely do tests on you to figure out how to reverse engineer your powers

I love that ability, truly but it has way to many problems if you were to actually receive it.
User avatar #37 to #36 - comicexplain (11/26/2015) [-]
I'd like to assume an eternal body also gifts an eternal mind - And a sense of self is fairly easy to obtain, if you know how to anchor who you are, and that helps when you understand people change, and it doesn't really matter who you are now, anyway, aside from how it effects who you'll become. A journal might be nice, though!

No need to have robotic parts, but that would likely mean no internal augmentations. That's acceptable, however, considering the current augmentation would mean a -lot-. By proxy, I would have unlimited stamina, and ungodly amount of strength without fear of it harming my body. I don't really care about authorities. Either I come out as the first modern miracle, or I keep moving. When I have that power, I don't think they'd be able to do much - How are they going to capture me? Shoot me? Knock me out? How...? Sleeping gas? You know these things won't work.

They'll have to do it with words. or risk my ire - I could just go Doom on everyone and take over a small country for myself, if I -absolutely- must. Age with my people, become something beyond the typical, and lead the light of the future down the path of tomorrow.

If worse comes to worse, of course.

I'd like to think that being that sort of immortal would be really awesome if you also went back in time for about 1000 years or so, you'd technically create your own country, run it forever and slowly create a united world, you'd also have the basic knowledge of science of the future.

also, capturing you would be easy to be honest, unless you live in the third world country, the government would either use your loved ones to capture you or basically come up with something that even your body wouldn't run away from.

you would be really powerful, I agree but even with that much power, three or four highly trained men would still be able to physically capture you, even if you run away. helicopters, tanks, yadda yadda.

it basically depends on how you act, you'd have to be extremely intelligent not to get captured
User avatar #40 to #38 - comicexplain (11/26/2015) [-]
Well, I don't act like I'm playing GTA. Spider-Man said it best, and I won't repeat. I would love it if my brain were to get an upgrade; be able to learn to master my body and then some in record time. Three to four trained men? I'd be worth that and more, with the skill and power to use it all.

You know how you only win a chessmatch vs a COM because the computer let you win...? That's who I want to be like.

A thousand years wouldn't be much. I'd suggest 4000, and try to lead things subtly.
User avatar #41 to #40 - icameheretotroll ONLINE (11/26/2015) [-]
It would be so cool, you'd guide humans towards peace and acceptance, help the tribes/empires that were peaceful and basically engineer an evolution of a peaceful culture.

At first when humans start to develop, you'd teach them about the world, but not too much, just enough that they see you as a sort of a deity

every few years you'd ask them if they needed something and you'd help them as much as you can.

they'd start to trust you completely, see you as their ancient guardian.

You could also live among them, but I'd like to think that visiting them every year would be most interesting, since they'd have a celebration when you visited, they would always be happy having you around and you wouldn't go power hungry.

Wearing a symbolic mask would also be my suggestion, since eventually you'd want to live among them for a while, to experience a little bit of normality.

Still though, wishing to go in a reality that is exactly the same as this one where you are omnipotent is highly superior to immortality.
User avatar #54 to #41 - comicexplain (11/27/2015) [-]
And boring. I have forever, after all - wouldn't be fun if I already knew it all.

I'd rather have a superior mind, comparable to several supercomputers, a body gifted from what happens when a healing factor which grants true immortality sets in, and... I suppose being a omniglot would also work in my favor, though I'm sure my brain would be able to do what's needed there.

Yes but you could sleep for a really long time.
User avatar #25 to #24 - comicexplain (11/26/2015) [-]
I would love that. I wonder what would happen, if I were to close my eyes, and sleep for a very, very long time. Let the world become the stars around us, and then awaken much later.

Then again, I fear the opportunities I would miss.

User avatar #27 to #26 - comicexplain (11/26/2015) [-]

what if you get aids and your body is just in a constant state of fighting aids.
User avatar #29 to #28 - comicexplain (11/26/2015) [-]
That's not how it works; if I got any disease, it would be like a streaker trying to go a whole 500 meters through a field, followed and surrounded by football players who really, really, really don't like people who streak.

Even if they get far, they'd be wiped out - And It'll be harder to get sick as time goes on!
