Would you rather hate your job and make millions of dollars or love your job and make a crappy salary? Rob chose the option that made him millions of dollars
User avatar #38 to #10 - iridium (10/24/2013) [-]
There's a difference between hating your job or your craft and hating what you make.

Perhaps he hates the roles and film itself, but doesn't actually hate doing the films.
User avatar #51 to #10 - secretmouse (10/24/2013) [-]
It would depend on what kind of job it was, to be honest.

But, I'd probably take the job long enough to get a house and some other important things for my family, put aside some cash for any rough times ahead, and then probably quit.
User avatar #53 to #10 - ninjaspartan (10/24/2013) [-]
Good question. I would probably do the latter because **** being rich, I don't need to hate my job AND have those kinds of problems. The only exception would be if I had a family to support.

Well, he probably didn't completely hate it. He's an actor and it's his job to portray the character that's written in the script. Sometimes you get characters you don't like at all, whether or not they're god-awful like Edward Cullen. If anything, this has had made him much more famous and he's going to get more offers for roles in the future.

I'm no twilight fan, but am I the only one who gets tired of things like this?

I know this one isn't that bad, but I just get tired of anything twilight-related. It's was targeted towards teenage girls, not the whole world.
#74 to #49 - Underground ONLINE (10/24/2013) [-]
A lot of people hate it because to be perfectly honest the books had no substance to them and did not deserve even half the recognition they got. The idea wasn't a bad one but the author should have spent more time fleshing it out and making it more realistic. She could have said 'The virus that changed them into vampires also altered the cells in their blood, making them carry larger amounts of oxygen to keep the undead organs still somewhat alive. This causes a subtle, but still noticeable shimmer to their skin.' but instead it was like like 'They sparkle because **** you I'm Stephenie Meyer.'

It follows a 'bait and hook' writing style in which the author makes the main character, Bella in this case flat, plain, and boring. Little is known about her appearance and what it does include is very vague.

This is done on purpose so that any person (in this case teen girls and bored soccer moms) can imagine themselves as that character. And what teen girl/soccer mom doesn't want a cold stone perfect Adonis to sweep them off their feet and save them from their lives?

Books like these are less of an actual story being told and more like a 'Read your own adventure!' type thing and sadly are wildly popular but are forgettable trends and fade away with the years. Other examples include 50 Shades of Grey and almost the entire romance genera. The writing is lazy, it takes little imagination and also little effort to throw it together.
#88 to #74 - playerdous (10/24/2013) [-]
You're pretty much in the right on this one. My sister read the books involved and explained how they're both terrible writting styles and an 8th grader could come up with the content maybe not the content for 50 shades but you get the point.

#5 to #4 - anon (10/23/2013) [-]
It's not that he shouldn't hate on it, It's more like, at least keep it to yourself. I'd hate it too but he took the role, and played it. So, he had to, at the very least tolerate it.
Plus, he never stated anywhere that he hates it. It's just heavily implied.

User avatar #26 to #8 - hudis ONLINE (10/23/2013) [-]
But why is it rude? It wasn't even his debut role. He doesn't owe it to the film makers or Stephanie Mayer to like the films or the story. An actor's job is to portray a character in the film, not be the film.

True but I get awec's point of not taking roles you hate. In the arts it's not so much as doing a job you hate but doing a job you disagree with. It's like being pro-life and working at an abortion clinic, he's not going to starve if he doesn't take the role. So he kind of sold out. I'm not saying he has to love the series but why act in them you don't agree with the plot of the series.

But then again, I think it is rather shameful that he's adopted that sort of opinion. Look at it this way, the face of twilight, is him, if he were to quit and someone else had to be edward a lot of girls would get pissed, if he hates it or not, the fact that he so openly says that he hates the role scares the directors and writers and who ever else is in charge because if he were to quit they'd be ****** . So imagine how much money they're giving him as insurance to keep him there. Just think about that.
#40 to #34 - dontknowmeatall (10/24/2013) [-]
There's something you might not know about, it's called "contractual obligations". It basically means that if you already signed to make five movies and after shooting the first scene you decide to read the original book and realise it bloody sucks, you're screwed, and you have to make the movies anyway, whether you like it or not. If you don't, you get sued. By a humongous company. And then you really are ****** . I don't think the guy's a hero, but at least he has the balls to admit that he made a huge mistake instead of just insisting on how awesome the film is to try to cheat the audience and himself, as we've seen most hollywood people does (Mr. Cage, for example).

By assuming the final and only point you made was what you really meant while considering that the point you made wasn't a statement people would likely make when being sarcastic towards the target message and recognizing that you weren't addressing the fallacies made in the targeted statement like most sarcastic statements normally would to emphasis the sarcasm that was made, thus very easily coming to the conclusion that you were agreeing with the target statement since your average reply of agreement normally consists of the simple statement, "I agree," as your message had stated.

I apologize if I misconceived the intent of your message, but now you know how to make effective sarcastic replies to get the message across to autistic children such as myself.
