I think it is because ****** magic and ****. Why didn't Voldemort just send out an owl to find Harry in Book Seven? Why wouldn't the Ministry just look for a big ******* hippogriff? MAGIC N ****.

Why did Voldemort feel the need to use the killing curse on Harry? He was a ******* baby; you could pick him up wrong and kill him.

Well, He knew the prophecy, that their son (and technically one other) would be the only one who could stand against him and kill him. So he decided to go with the old favorite "There's no better kill then overkill."

Dropping him down that flight of stairs would have been overkill...

He got caught in the moment, but either way he couldn't kill Harry no matter what he did, so he could have thrown Harry into rush hour traffic and he still would have survived because of the charm his mother cast.

Dead Alive AKA Braindead (1992) FULL MOVIE

Go to 57:30 if it doesn't start there.

You've just made me think of Voldemort going full on RAW vs Smackdown on the little ****, throwing him down the stairs, stomping on him throwing him into the wall and ****, just wrecking the entire house trying to beat the crap out of the baby Harry.

I'm pretty sure the charm protected him from magic...

Yeah, he could have just picked him up wrong to kill him. I still think part of his psychosis is not to get his hands dirty though. He thinks he is "above it all" and a muggle would kill a baby that way.

Actually it protected him from dying through direct intervention from the same person that killed his mother. At least, that's how my girlfriend described it I believe, I never actually read the series.

I only read the last book, and it's been months since I've seen the movies. Oh well.

I know this is a rhetorical plot-hole question, but I like to psycho-analyze literary characters, and it seems that Voldemort had Narcissistic Personality Disorder and even Histrionic Personality Disorder, which may account for why he tried to kill Harry the way he did, and why he would not kill him in the future when given so many opportunities.

(Talking about in the first movie when Harry was a baby, if anyone missed that)
