I feel like Heimdall needs to know where to look, though. Otherwise in Avengers (or any story ever) why bother searching for the bad guy? Just call up Heimdall and ask him where they're at.
and also, how would he knows who to look for if he doesn't know how the person looks like? like, "hey find jeff for me, would ya?" i mean, there are 245674 jeffs out there. how would he know which jeff he's supposed to look for? and it's not like cap has a picture of bucky he'd be carrying in his wallet all the time either.
bucky was just hiding by normal means though, and in the comics heimdall could find anyone who wasn't hiding using really powerful magic just by thinking of them, so bucky should not have been any trouble at all.
Thor's in the REAL Civil War, not this wash-out crap of a movie series they're doing where apparently Cap is the real antagonist and Tony's Mr. Perfect. Which is totally opposite, as Cap was the rebellious shining hero and Tony was the puppetmaster supervillain behind the Civil War.
Thor's in that Civil War because Tony Stark cloned the dead Thor and turned his clones into super-soldiers capable of wielding Mjolnir. Killed long-time Avenger Black Goliath in one shot, who was a friend of Tony and Cap both.
So, the movie's going to be more nuanced and ambiguous and grapple with the duality of security versus freedom, just as Winter Soldier did, while the comics had an obvious good guy and bad guy and Tony was clearly being a megalomaniacal twat?
So, the movie's going to be superior, in other words?
Nick Fury be like: we can kill every bad guy in the world with these 3 carriers
Captain: How do you find them?
Nick Fury: Computer ********
Captain: Hey does that mean, that we can find my friend Bucky?
Nick Fury: eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehm, no
The Helicarrers that could do that were never made operational if I remember the events of the movie correct. And until that movie everyone assumed Bucky was dead, so there was no reason for Cap to ask. Also Hydra had taken over.
I take that the Carriers weren't operational before the movie.
Bucky seems to have taken the serum (he has taken in the comics) in the movie as well, since he is rather young and strong and obviously the same Bucky from the first movie. So Hydra has this guy in its basement for 70 years and doesn't use him during the cold war? Answer is simple, he worked for the Soviet Union and has had the same training as black widow, Hydra lais it's hand later on Bucky You can't tell me that neither Nick Fury the old nor the Samuel L. Jackson one knew about him. Maybe he just did not want the captain to know that bucky was still alive, because the captain could react exactly how he does in the end of the movie...
Bucky wouldn't have any modern personal information to track with the algorithm. He's a ******* assassin ghost cyborg. Also, until Winter Soldier appeared in the movie, Cap had no idea he was Bucky.
" He's a ******* assassin ghost cyborg"
he certainly is in the comics, but he didn't seem that awesome in the movie Although - he had that awesome sceene where he just cached the vibranium shield . I mean he got his arse handed over by the captain rather fast for a guy who drank a copy of the "Why women went to the Movie" serum. On the other hand it was just a copy, so that's that...
"Also, until Winter Soldier appeared in the movie, Cap had no idea he was Bucky."
The captain did not, but as I said in #48 there is no way that Nick Fury doesn't! Also these carriers appear very stupid if they couldn't even identify the "threats" like the Winter Soldier or the Hydra Agents:
Officer: Mr Fury! The carrier attackes our Headquater
Nick Fury: Maybe we are the threat to mankind
Officer: Oooooooooooooooor, >whispers< Heil Hydra
Winter Soldier was actually keeping Cap on the ropes in most of their early encounters. Bucky got more of his licks than Cap did until the final showdown.
It seems unlikely the Winter Soldier would still be around if Fury knew anything about him other than what Widow knew. The algorithm was created by Hydra, and Winter Soldier was under their mind control, so why would it detect and eliminate their own guys? Nobody but Hydra even knew Hydra still existed within Shield.
