The new Star Wars movie needs a female Jedi. The more I thought about it, the more I realized it's weird they never had one.

User avatar #106 to #62 - Mr Ronok (11/12/2013) [-]
there were quite a few female jedi in the first 3 movies, they were all background characters though. the expanded universe novels and other media have quite a few female jedi that are main characters
#65 to #62 - baitdoesnttalkback (11/12/2013) [-]
they did in the prequels. she dead
User avatar #66 to #65 - rocksteady (11/12/2013) [-]
I mean like a main character. A female Jedi who takes up as much screen time as any of the main characters.
#71 to #62 - bluzzerstream (11/12/2013) [-]
There's alot of fanwritten thing with female jedis and there's some written stories where Leia becomes a Jedi. And don't forget Jaina (Han and Leia's daughter). She has a main role and is a jedi.

I do agree that there needs to be more fimale Jedis in the movies!
User avatar #90 to #71 - calawesome (11/12/2013) [-]
Jaina solo is worst solo.
User avatar #91 to #90 - bluzzerstream (11/12/2013) [-]
Haven't read the book so I can't disagree... And the other solos all end up like siths, they might be more badass though
User avatar #92 to #91 - calawesome (11/12/2013) [-]
SPOILERS

one goes sith, one dies saving the galaxy, and jaina becomes a self righteous bitch who think's she superior because of a prophecy.

I don't think that movie should count as part of the starwars movies. It's kind of like counting Halo Wars when you add up the total of games in the Halo franchise. You can leave that one out.

I'm not saying it's really bad!
#63 to #62 - verycoolcat (11/12/2013) [-]
On that note... I think the first female jedi ever to have a speaking role was in Kotor.... which was a surprisingly decent game.

User avatar #83 to #67 - slumberdonkey (11/12/2013) [-]
Can you tell me the plot of it? I'll admit, the special effects were very good, but the best part about the old series was that the special effects weren't that good, but the story was very, very, very good.
User avatar #105 to #83 - discipl (11/12/2013) [-]
The plot to Phantom Menace? Well, there was much hostility between the human population of Naboo and the Trade Federation because the Federation were boycotting all trade from Naboo in attempts to sway them into a bargain. However this hostility eventually lead to the Federation's invasion of Naboo after ambassadors were not recieved. The two Jedi help the Queen of Naboo escape to Courescant where she pleads her case to the galactic Senate, but after the Supreme Chancellor is booted she gets fed up with waiting idely by while her people on her home planet are being massacred. So they go back and kick some ass and defeat the invasion. The end.. Oh yea and somewhere in there they pick up that Anakin guy.
User avatar #108 to #105 - slumberdonkey (11/12/2013) [-]
I'm going to assume you read the books or some **** . How bout this? Who was the protagonist?
User avatar #112 to #108 - discipl (11/12/2013) [-]
I did read the books, but all that I said was explained in the movie itself. The protagonist is probably technically Anakin Skywalker for Episodes I, II and III, and then Luke for IV, V and VI. Now I'm not saying that Phantom Menace had an amazing storyline, but George Lucas did do a good job of having everything work its way together through the 6 movies.
User avatar #116 to #112 - slumberdonkey (11/13/2013) [-]
Anakin skywalker, who, in the phantom menace, didn't show up until halfway through the movie and had no power over the events that were unfolding around him. Yes. What a fantastic character to relate to. What a superb demonstration of literary genius.
User avatar #110 to #108 - mrevitcartta (11/12/2013) [-]
Does a story have to have any one protagonist?
User avatar #117 to #110 - slumberdonkey (11/13/2013) [-]
If you can give me an example of a movie that is very highly revered that doesn't have a clear protagonist I will give you this point.
User avatar #121 to #117 - discipl (11/13/2013) [-]
Also.. movies that don't have just one clear protagonist can include: Pulp Fiction, all three lotr movies (I would definitely debate Frodo being the only protagonist), Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Snatch, The Avengers, and I'm sure there's more..
User avatar #122 to #121 - slumberdonkey (11/13/2013) [-]
Pulp fiction is unique in that it has several protagonists at each others' throats (brilliant Tarantino), i won't even debate that frodo isn't the protagonist. It's a classic underdog story. He takes the responsibility. He holds the ring the whole time. He throws it.
User avatar #118 to #117 - mrevitcartta (11/13/2013) [-]
Gummo. Highly revered among the indie crowd. Stop trying to pick apart Episode 1. If you don't like it you don't like it. Leave it alone.
User avatar #119 to #118 - slumberdonkey (11/13/2013) [-]
my problem isnt that it was a bad movie. its that the original trilogy is a masterpiece and the new one is a monstrosity that will never go away.
User avatar #120 to #119 - discipl (11/13/2013) [-]
I think once Disney puts out the next trilogy you might not think so poorly of the new trilogy ;)
User avatar #123 to #120 - slumberdonkey (11/13/2013) [-]
Disney has made fantastic movies. They made avengers better than the iron man movies, thor, and the first hulk movie.

Am I the only one certain that they'd be quite good with a lightsaber? Especially since you don't need power in the strikes, just speed and coordination.
User avatar #19 to #17 - clonedcommando (11/12/2013) [-]
Disregarding the prequels Lightsabers were supposed to be extremely hard to wield without hurting ones self. Almost always requiring 2 hands on the hilt for proper combat, Then Lucas dropped acid and decided slow deliberate combat with every swing having meaning was for pussies and everyone needs to start swinging lightsabers like they are glowsticks.
User avatar #40 to #19 - commontroll (11/12/2013) [-]
Also, I have no idea why you were thumbed down so much.
User avatar #39 to #19 - commontroll (11/12/2013) [-]
Well, I certainly wouldn't use it like it was a glowstick. Just one inch off and I could severely damage an arm. I was a fencer, specifically sabre, so I never was taught to be flourishing and all, just be quick and get it done. Kendo practitioners would be great with them as well. Nobody would use them the way they do in the movies, unless they were retarded.
User avatar #10 - zomaru (11/12/2013) [-]
I would end up the one who gets stuck as a library assistant or something like that. Because they wouldn't be able to let me near the weapons or I might somehow hurt someone.
