In a free market, the fewer trees there are, the more interest each person has in protecting their trees.
User avatar #29 to #23 - ThatFuckingGuy (05/19/2014) [-]
If you don't like Free Market, you could always dig a hole in the ground and live there.
Go ahead and enjoy your nothing. Well, I guess you have dirt. And it'll be your dirt, too.
All the dirt in your hole.
Now don't you feel special?
User avatar #27 to #23 - lazorman (05/19/2014) [-]
I like thinking about stuff like this. Basically what that means is the the number of trees is above equilibrium in the eyes of the market (which is, in this case, humanity as a whole), so their loss means little

I wonder what would happen to America if a good president dropped capitalism for a while and used a different type of government.

Everything would go the **** , there is a reason other systems go straight to **** all the time, they are too easy to abuse by terrible people, and even the worst corruption doesn't effect everybody in this system the same as it does in others
#30 to #28 - simbawarrior (05/19/2014) [-]
you do realize capitalism is incredibly stupid and not even USA can maintain such system, at least not for much long. The fact other systems have not work has much to do with the fact that the US has done everything possible to either corrupt or destroy other systems and then claim your "freedoms" are better.
Capitalism is based on greed and deception, the whole theory is simply stupid and your monetary system is a lie, as well as everything said by your politians who are basicly the same group working with two different names (btw, only 2 parties?? that isnt even democracy)
The world´s actual ****** condition has everything to do with your unplanned, greedy and expanding capitalism and the fact that you guys rather give a kid a gun than a book for education.
#37 to #30 - John Cena (05/19/2014) [-]
Capitalism is based on non-aggression and the respect for property rights. Whereas all forms of government are based on violence and and the infringement of rights. The question you have to ask yourself is: Are for or against violence?

"Capitalism Is the worst way to run a country, until you've tried everything else"

Winston Churchill

Just saiyan but uhhh, I meant capitalism as democracy. Like, the government system.

dude... capitalism is an economic system

I blame Obama
#42 to #39 - simbawarrior (05/19/2014) [-]
so, you want a dictator to run the country?
wouldnt make much difference since both parties are the same **** with different name and equally corrupted
User avatar #43 to #42 - thememegod ONLINE (05/19/2014) [-]
Not a dictator
Consider this,
>(insert race of choice here) President
>This president says, Hey, Im a git some **** done
>this president then ignores the exsistance of congress and anyother loud mouth telling him want to say and do
>Said president then decides to drop funding into so much military hardware and football stadiums, and instead let it flow into more helpful things like sciences and research
In other words i just want a USA were we can actually brag about something other then dropping the only nukes in history and invading a heavily armored beach.
Take Japan for example (im gonna embarrass myself here) it would seem that after WW2 japan seemed to just sit in a corner and worry about itself instead of trying to dominate the world through fear and money. AND LOOK AT EM. They have robots already!!! And were just researching on how to make a two legged robot walk?!

Long story short, I want a president who will actually get something done.
User avatar #48 to #43 - officechair (05/19/2014) [-]
So...a dictator. Maybe you should go back to high school.
#49 to #48 - krizzzzz (05/19/2014) [-]
a dictator dont have to be bad u can be a dictator and do good **** , but most of them is just greedy
#32 to #30 - Dadhhg ONLINE (05/19/2014) [-]
First, most of the **** doesn't have to do directly with capitalism, capitalism is simply an idea that anybody who can make money is allowed and should be able to make said money, other systems make such things illegal or otherwise restricted.

America has problems, but they are not capitalism. Another thing is that the democratic process has nothing to do with capitalism, and it's not inherently bad. America has problems, but they have nothing to do with the underlying systems and how they are supposed to work, they have to do with the culture and understanding of the people.
#34 to #32 - simbawarrior (05/19/2014) [-]
Capitalism is the believe that by letting a certain group of people get rich eventually this "money" will "fill the cup" and when it exceeds this "cup" capacity it will reach everyone, making an equal society, which of course it has achieved hasnt it?
Capitalism's main characteristic is that greed gets the whole wheel spinning, and it may be funny, but it is also human greed what brought down every other system ever tried. Also, your system does not think about "tomorrow" and uses as much it has around to get money without even considering the fact **** may not be there tomorrow, which is also basicly what the US is doing with oil, water, forests and every other ******* resource on the ************* world.
#40 to #34 - John Cena (05/19/2014) [-]
Replace capitalism with corporatism or statism and your post is correct.

easter island was once a rich populous island.
Until they cut down all the trees and destroyed the soil of their island, creating a cataclysm that pretty much wiped out their civilization.
not the only historical example either.
Humans have destroyed their own lad in rush for resources before. And now we can do it on global scale.
And every time someone says that what we are doing is unsustainable and will create huge problems in the long run, all you hear is. "Nu-uh, we aren't doing anything bad. Here, this people I am paying huge amounts of money say that its perfectly fine."
User avatar #31 to #11 - ryderjbudde (05/19/2014) [-]
No one is going to recognize the problem only when but one tree is left. We are already beginning to fix things and the problem has just become known. We have time for many generations to be born and to die before the planet dies. And we know how to revive planets. Several methods have already been formulated for the rejuvenation of Mars. As long as we can survive, there is no point of no return. We can fix things, but it's not going to happen tomorrow. So maybe instead of acting like you're the only human alive who cares you should chill out and lose the cynicism. Things will get better because humans are smart and they want to live, but things will only get better when the sum of all our efforts reach the requirement. You probably won't live to see the day, but it will come.

If humans were as hopeless as misanthropes would want to believe, we would still be living and dying in caves.

I hate doomsaying posts like this. Why are people nowadays so obsessed with the world ending? I don't think they'd be able to cope if we actually built ourselves into a great utopia or something. We're still a relatively young species and the only one on earth we've discovered that has our level of intellect, things will get better you cunts.
#45 - John Cena (05/19/2014) [-]
but at that point money will have motivated people to invent something to replace all that **** and if that didnt happen then money will have managed to get people on other planets we can infect like a virus.

We know you can't eat money, we use money to buy things that we can eat.

Also by then money would have lost all value and trade via currency will be replaced with bartering.
