can you imagine though a turret mounted brrrrt? that pretty much putting a phalanx ciws on a aircraft, truly a weapon to surpass metal gear.

battletechmech (21 hours ago) [-] F-22 and F-35 get their hate from armchair generals, they were made in accordance with what congress wanted, and fufill the role they were asked to fill. The F-22 is an air superiority fighter with 5th generation technology, the F-35 is a versatile multi-role aircraft that understandably has a lot of compromises to be a jack of all trades.

Yeah it pretty much is considered the best combat fighter ever built. I also recall an Israeli F-15 loosing a wing and yet it was still able to land.

I do believe it's great due to the specific role it was built for. Unlike the F-22, and F-35 that were built for Multi Role. The F-15 was a true Fighter air frame that was later adapted for Multi Role.
