I have an advanced diploma in advertising (making logos and brand identities for companies is literally my job). Reading this, then reading the **** storm in the comments, is ******* hilarious.

Coca Cola is literally the ******* thing that you say not to do, right next to it. And it's in the "good" column

Red bulls aren't cliches in and of themselves, though. I'd never even heard of a red bull before the drink came out. It's just making the point that you want to catch people's attention, not give them something they expect.

Coca-Cola doesn't have a brush font because brush fonts were popular.
Brush fonts are popular in logos because Coca-Cola used one. It's the most recognizable logo on the face of the planet, bar none. Besides, the Coca-Cola logo is an example of calligraphy, not some computer-generated font.
#100 to #84 - anon (12/08/2015) [-]
Fonts aren't computer generated. Someone personally made each font you use.

You're right about the rest though.
User avatar #101 to #100 - thepizzadevourer ONLINE (12/08/2015) [-]
What I meant was "someone typed it out on a computer for the logo rather than coming up with an original logo themselves"
Obviously fonts are originally made by someone, but generally it's not a company looking for a new logo

User avatar #17 to #5 - novaphyer (12/08/2015) [-]
It's more along the lines of, everybody does the airplane or globe for their respective business, if you're part of the same business, do something else.

Burger King gets away with it since it's the first and most recognizable, if another burger place did something along the same lines, it wouldn't be unique to them.

Use vector based editing software such as Illustrator when making logos because vectors can be resized to any size and it won't look like ****

Raster editing programs such as Photoshop use pixels, and cannot be resized without looking like **** .

Never use more than 3 colors.
Use a pantone color book to determine the true color of your logo once it's printed, and you can always write down the pantone, and have the exact same color you used previously in your logo to use in new designs.

The recipe for the perfect logo is to have a company that actually has money and **** .

Apple's logo is a ******* silhouette of a bitten apple, **** kind of logo is that? I guarantee if apple tried to start up today with no money and no fame, everyone would think their logo is stupid. But because they have money and fame, people worship the logo.
